Cramps

Anyone else suffering with this? Ugh! Started day before period and is still going on. It's stressing me out, dont know what to do besides keep going and watch for bleeding. I would describe the pain as constant and pressure or tightness, not quite painful like menstrual cramps. Anyways just looking for anyone else that is or has had this. Don't remember it from my first... TIA

Re: Cramps

  • I've never been pregnant before, but I've had cramping for about 5 days now (similar to the ones that usually start up before AF, not painful). I keep reading it's fairly common, so as hard as it is (trust me, I'm just now 4 weeks today) try not to worry and enjoy the ride!

  • I'm 6w3d today and I have had pretty regular cramping since a few days before my BFP. More like the pressure you are describing but it occasionally is a little bit more intense. No bleeding though. I keep reading that this is a normal symptom in early pregnancy!

  • Me too... not super painful, and they don't last long, but it is definitely annoying! I keep reading that it's normal, though.

  • Same here. It's subsiding a bit, so now I get worried that I don't feel pregnant enough. I'm 5 weeks 2days

I feel this way too whenever my symptoms subside! So far they keep coming back eventually though. But I feel you. I think it's also normal NOT to feel pregnant early on... hah.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 my baby just gave me some good ol cramps to remind me she's there. But I still stopped at the dollar store for hpts. I'm gonna go nuts waiting for my Halloween ultrasound
  • I experience cramping as well been experiencing it since September 28th but didn't get a BFP until October 3rd. But it is definitely normal. I have spotting with mines though and have been seen in the ER and everything is normal and fine and my HCG levels have been rising so you all shouldn't have anything to worry about. I will have my first initial appointment for the actual ultrasound tuesday Oct. 18. I am soo ready to see what's going on in there. LOL.
  • I'm 5 weeks today. I had some constant cramping in my back for the last two days. Plus, some occasional ones up front. Again like you they weren't painful, just pressure/ache. I usually always get that before my period. Thankfully it has subsided a bit. Still scary though!  But, as everyone else has said totally normal. My first appt isn't until 11/3 and I don't even think I get an ultrasound until 3 weeks after that! Nerve wracking wait.
  • My last pregnancy I had a couple of sharp pains and the ultrasound showed I had a benign cist on my ovary. My gyn said it would slowly disappear and it did.

I'm cramping now, and even though Its a little alarming (it feels like menstrual to me) as long as I'm not bleeding, I'm not minding too much.
  • @Knottie42089123 Be careful with the HPTs... once your HCG gets too high they won't really pick it up as well and this could freak you out. Halloween is a long wait for ultrasound!! I'm sure your baby is doing just fine though :)

  • Cramping is normal. Had it for the first few weeks after BFP with last one and experiencing the same thing this time.

Im jealous of all you ladies getting ultrasounds so soon. My OB doesn't see patient until 10 weeks unless there's problems or you are high risk so I have to wait until November 21st! Insane!
  • @wifeinraleigh28 good to know, I guess I need to stay away from those hpts! I did take one last night and it helped me feel better :-)

Halloween is so close yet so far away!
  • I know! Mine is not until Nov 24th! Hope it flies
  • I'm four weeks.   I've been getting pressure but not really cramps.   My AF cramps feel like someone put a hand-mixer in my intestines and set it to the highest setting, so these are actually rather nice.   Like I know something positive is happening in there.

I don't want to cause you any uncomfortable feelings but honestly, after 3 and a half years of infertility, 2 losses and 10,000 dollars to have a baby an early ultrasound doesn't seem like a perk just another opportunity for pain and disappointment. But I'm also a special snowflake

I'm so sorry for your losses and all you've been through. I can definitely see why you wouldn't consider that a perk. I dealt with 3 years of infertility with my first and somehow miraculously got pregnant naturally which was tough but I can't imagine dealing with losses too. Hope this pregnancy is a happy, healthy and successful one for you!

I am having sharp pains this time, and have a feeling it's probably caused by a cyst. Hoping it goes away soon! My appointment is not until Nov. 16th so I have a pretty long wait  :/

Well you learn something new every day! Lol
I've been having light cramping as well- which I never had with my 1st pregnancy, but that ended in a m/c so maybe this is a good thing? I google things lol bad habit but everyone says it's normal!

  • My doctors have always told me the cramping is due to the uterus stretching.
  • Not much cramping but I do have a lot of "growing pains."  My back and sides ache like they are stretching.  It does let me get endless back rubs from DH  B)
  • My lower back is in a lot of pain as well, and I almost feel as if my bladder feels super uncomfortable and sore, does anyone else feel like? Maybe its my uterus not my bladder, but it sure feels like bladder urge. I have never had a UTI or bladder infection so maybe it could be that. Whatever is going on is making it very uncomfortable most of the day and laying down is even not comfortable. I hate to be a complainer, but this honestly all has me concerned.

That sucks @Mport90 hopefully it's nothing. I start feeling pain if I hold off emptying my bladder. I used to be very camel-like and be able to hold for hours, but now it's a whole different story #peeallthetime
  • I have a sister in law as well as 2 friends that experienced constant mild cramping as u've described that lasted their entire 1st trimester. Every pregnancy is different and as long as there's no bleeding with any increase in cramping, there's usually no reason to worry. That being said, my sister in law did experience heavy bleeding for a couple of days when she was around 6 weeks (no increase in cramping) and had a healthy baby girl :) i had a previous miscarriage and i know my cramping got quite worse before the bleeding (keeled over in pain, then started mouth breathing from excruciating pain right before bleeding started). So although might be uncomfortable......minor, constant cramping is not usually a bad thing. It's your lil one making themself comfy. Also a lot of ppl i know and have read about, experience a lot more cramping and/or symptoms after their 1st. Wishing u a happy and healthy pregnancy! :)
  • I've been experiencing a dull ache in my lower back for a week now, started around 5 weeks.  I try to lay down with a heating pad.  I think it's pretty normal, but I know it's hard not to worry.
  • @Assiram42 make sure to be careful with those heating pads!! I've heard from few different people that you should only use heating pads around 15mins at a time (max) when pregnant. Been told you got to be careful that you don't raise your core temp more than a cpl degrees. I know I've been told by couple doctors/nurses no hot baths under any circumstances for that reason too. Dont want to worry anyone! Theres so many different limitations/restrictions for all these aches and pains associated with pregnancy!! Just want to make sure everyone's as careful as can be! :)
  • 8 weeks here and have mild period like cramps. Makes me worry but probably uterus expanding
