GTKY: Your taste in music

What kind of music does everyone listen to?

We had this GTKY topic the last BMB I was a part of and it was fun to see how different peoples preference on the type of music that the listened to can be. It also segued into listening to music while in labor!

Re: GTKY: Your taste in music

  • I love most genres; classical, rap, pop, country, indie, 80's hair bands.

I'm not a huge fan of grunge or Rob Zombie type rock.

I couldn't pick one genre or one artist.

  • I listen to a lot of country and classic rock. I love Mirnada Lambert, Jon Pardi, Led Zepplin, and Tom Petty. Plus I listen to the top fourty or all genre stations. I travel for work so I'm constantly listening to music.
  • Mostly top forty type stuff.

  • I listen to everything!! To be fair, a lot of pop stuff and some country really gets on my nerves. Since I'm a musician, I just try not to be too much of a music snob. Its an easy trap to fall in to!! Lately, when I take the bus as I sometimes do, I listen to radiohead or the new Wilco. Sometimes my ears just need to relax a bit.

  • I listen to a wide variety of music but mostly country and classic rock.

EDM makes me want to stab myself in the ears.

  • I'm also a big fan of country music and classic rock
  • Any Broadway show tunes fans? That's what you'll mostly hear in our house, especially when hubby is home. Otherwise, I like country and some pop.
  • Country and Classical Rock 70/80/90's
  • I mostly like "indie" or maybe what one used to call "college radio" which encompasses tons of sub genres. I don't really like "bar rock" or current country and I don't really listen to top 40 beyond what has made it into Alvin & the Chipmunks albums. Basically I'm no fun at all, especially at karaoke.
  • "Indie rock" or alternative --> NPR - Open Air

  • Classic rock and 90s grunge/alternative

My favorite Pandora station is Rolling Stones "Wild Horses", and my favorite song overall is Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here"

I have a bit of an aversion to country music but a lot of my friends love it so I'm trying to widen my scope and see if I can get into it

  • There aren't many genres of music I don't like, but my radio (when I'm not listening to podcasts or audiobooks) is usually on top 40 or country.

  • Gosh, just about everything.

My dad was a musician and taught music so I love classical and opera. Country music is a favorite (especially 90's country). I love Harry Connick, Jr, 311, and Bob Marley. I think the only thing I'm not a huge fan of is top 40.

  • Give me great lyrics and an amazing voice and I'm in the zone. I love all music. Some of my faves are Jason Mraz, Mumford & Sons, Zac Brown Band, Adele, and the Lumineers.

  • I love everything from Willie Nelson to George Strait to TOOL and Moby.  I occasionally find something in the top 40 that I really like, but I can get a tad selective.  90s would probably be my favorite XM station.  Our house always has something streaming in the background.

Side note: Going to go see Willie Nelson next month and I am beyond excited!
  • I love everything, but mostly listen to country.
  •  I listen to so so much !  From Metallica to George Strait to Ludacris to Frank Sinatra. I definitely get sucked into Disney/kid show songs (think bubble guppies) when the littles are in the car.

Gah! It's 1am and now you've got a Bubble Guppies song running through my head!

  • Haha, sorry friend.  The current fave in our house is the Halloween episode  and I constantly get "it's spooky" stuck in my head, lol.

I don't know how you feel about his radio stuff but he was one of those artists whom I just sort of liked on the radio but was never that excited about. Then, somehow a few years back, I was introduced to his other music that isn't on the radio and I was blown away. It's soooo much better than his radio stuff! He's freaking amazing!

Yes, his radio stuff seems catchy enough but not really in to it. The elmo song was just so sweet though. Hehe!! Will definitely check it out.

  • My modern playlist consists of Future, the Weeknd, and Major Lazer. However I love the slow R&B grooves from the 70s, 80s and 90s that get me in the GROOVE
