First movement

edited October 2016 in May 2017 Moms
I know I know it's insanely early. But this is baby#3 and I know the feeling of the first flutters. I just had some m&ms and I'm watching the office while my boys nap and I swear I've felt a TON of flutters over the last 5 minutes. No I don't have gas and no I don't have to poop. Haha. Any other 2+ moms feel early movement last time or even this time? I felt DS last time around 12 weeks.

  • I don't know how far along you are, but it's probably gas, whether you feel like you have it or not, or it could be everything stretching.  My uterus has been twitchy since I gave birth to DD.

  • Like PP said, I don't know how far along you are, but it's probably gas. The babies are so small right now, it'd be pretty much impossible to feel movement already.
  • 11 weeks. I know it's very early. But I remember the first flutters and this was definitely the same. Never had gas like that. Tmi... gas for me is almost always painful.

  • Well from what I've read supposedly the earliest a second time or more mom might feel movement would be 13 weeks, and that's still pretty early. You can feel little gas bubbles that feel like flutters, it doesn't have to be painful, large quantities of gas. I've had the occasional feeling of what flutters feel like at a time when I was not pregnant. Just because it feels a certain way doesn't confirm what's actually going on. But hey, if it continues fairly regularly then maybe? Still a long shot I would think at this point...

  • Have to admit it made me really happy. So if it is hasn't then it brightened my day hahahaha

  • I'm gonna say your lunch is coming back to haunt you. Aka it's gas. With my second, I still didn't feel anything until at least 15-16 weeks. And even then I had to be laying really still. I'm 10 weeks (tomorrow) and I'm feeling a ton of gas that feels like something is bouncing around in my uterus.

I had something that felt like flutters too today (11w2d) so I had to stop for a second to analyze it and it definitely wasn't flutters, it was gas or something in my stomach but definitely not flutters. Something to remember is that not until 12 weeks does the uterus start lifting out of the pelvic bone so right now it's still tucked in down below.

  • I've been pregnant 6 times.  I've gone past 13 weeks with all but one.  I've never felt anything as early as 11 weeks.  13 is the earliest I've felt anything and that was with my 4th pregnancy.  Do you know if you are posterior or anterior?

I don't know posterior or anterior.

  • I'm not trying to deny what you felt.  I'm just saying from my own perspective.  I know when my placenta was posterior I always felt movement much earlier than anterior.

  • I could have sworn the same thing a couple of days ago. This is baby #3 for me too. Probably gas, but felt so identical to flutters that I've subconsciously assumed that is where baby is in my uterus.

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34
  • My uterus is sometimes twitchy (just like flutters!) ever since my first baby...like this happens sometimes when not pregnant. It's not gas, but it is the uterus doing something weird.

You might be a week or two early but I do remember feeling movement at 14 weeks with #1 and everyone said that was impossible for #1. I dismissed it, but when it intensified I knew I was right all along. So I guess I'm saying sometimes you do feel before conventional wisdom would say you do. When we got a US for #1 at 10 weeks he was moving all over the place! So I could imagine someone feeling movement at 11 weeks, especially if your dates are a bit off.

  • At our 10+1 ultrasound it was so cool to see crazy movement! Who knows, even told DH I might be crazy but I swear it was baby. Either way it's a reminder that I freakin love feeling them move!!!

  • I'm 8w4d today and I have felt flutters a few times in the middle of the night when I'm deep in sleep and when I change positions. It kind of freaks me out too. I assume it couldn't be the baby because they say you can't feel movement this early, but it's always in the back of my mind that what if it is some kind of movement. Who really knows for sure if it is gas or not or if it might be possible for some of us to feel movement very early. I'm just saying...

I swear I felt flutters the other day, too. (My 2nd pregnancy-10w1d.)

Either way, it made me smile too @mamatowildones

  • I also feel 'flutters' but really I think I just have a twitchy uterus.... After DS was born I would still feel 'flutters' all the time, to the point that I took a pregnancy test once to confirm that I was in fact not pregnant and just attributing a lot more twitches to the baby than he actually caused... But it was always a reassuring feeling and it makes me smile even though I know it's still too early  :)
  • Ah, if you can feel it, that's so exciting!  I had my first us today and baby was just flailing around in there, but I couldn't feel anything but the probe.

Looking forward to the flutters, but I think it's a bit too soon yet for me!
