Have any one else experienced this! Please READ

Okay ladies so my levels have doubled since thursday. They are now at 8420. However in the ultrasound they only see a yolk sac and gestational sac. Has anyone else experienced something like this and had a healthy pregnancy? Seem like my levels are pretty high for just a yolk sac and gestational sac but idk. I NEED ANSWERS!!!

  • I'm sorry you're dealing with this! How far along are you? HCG levels can vary wildly. If they've doubled in two days time I would take that as a good sign. What did the doctor say?

  • I'm mobile so I can't see your ticker if you have one. How far along are you/do you think you are? If I used my beta numbers I would have been about 5.5 weeks and most likely would only see what you saw.

  • Based on my LMP I should be 6 weeks 4 days but maybe I ovulated a week late idk

  • Less than 7w could still be too early to see the heartbeat, but your doctor would have the most valuable feedback.  Your HCG levels aren't a perfect representation this early of what the U/S should show.  My first pregnancy my levels were half of what they were with my second during he same timeframe and both were healthy pregnancies.  I also recommend checking out the ultrasound thread.  Those ladies just had monitoring and probably spoke with their doctors about what they expected to see at what stage. Especially if you ovulated late though, a week makes a huge difference at this point.
  • This early on it is totally normal to find out you are a little behind or further along. If your HCG is doubling I wouldn't worry. Early ultrasounds can cause a lot of unnecessary worry. You can always request another one in a week or so to track growth.
  • I took this off americanpregnancy.org

Between 5 ½ to 6 ½ weeks, a fetal pole or even a fetal heartbeat may be detected by vaginal ultrasound.  The fetal pole is the first visible sign of a developing embryo. This pole structure actually has some curve to it with the embryo’s head at one end and what looks like a tail at the other end.

If a vaginal ultrasound is done and no fetal pole or cardiac activity is seen, another ultrasound scan should be done in 3-7 days. Due to the fact that pregnancy dating can be wrong, it would be much too early at this point to make a clear diagnosis on the outcome of the pregnancy.

Hopefully that offers you a little reassurance and some hope.

  • Very true @Elyse1384 your information was very helpful and I surely will check the ultrasound thread out more
  • @doodleoodle thank you. I will not worry no longer. Its just probably too early and I am a week behind or so.
  • @NamelessAria that definitely is helpful and useful to me. Thank you. Now I see it clearer. So since my appointment is in 3 days I am going to wait it out and see what my OBGYN says. I will keep you all updated. Thanks alot.
