Hi ladies! I haven't been active on this board for a while, but I was watching a video on You Tube from a fertility doctor (Marc Sklar) that I like to watch, and I would be remiss if I didn't share it here.
Dr. Sklar did a special this week with another fertility specialist, Christa Orecchio that popped up in my feed on You Tube. About half way through the video (starting at 10 minutes, 25 seconds) Christa shares a story about a patient that came to her for help after having 4 miscarriages while trying to conceive her second child. Christa told the patient to immediately get tested for MTHFR Genetic Mutation. The way I understood it is that, if you have this issue, your body can't process folic acid; you need "folate" which she said is the food-based form of folic acid. This patient was actually pregnant at the time that she came to Christa for treatment and was losing her baby. According to the video, the patient gave birth 4 months ago and the baby is doing great!
I know this sounds like a creepy advertisement or something, but I promise it's not. I put the link for the video below if you want to check it out. I honestly don't know anything about MTHFR, but I wanted to share it in the hopes that it might help someone. I know personally how hard even 1 loss can be, and I can't imagine having more than one. Hugs to all!
I found out I have the MTHFR gene mutation after my last loss. There are several forms of the mutation and a TON of information online. MTHFR.net is a great site for a starting point.
Re: MULTIPLE LOSSES? Maybe it's MTHFR Genetic Mutation
