Anyone have experience catching a cold in the first tri? I caught a cold from my husband on Tuesday and have been drinking a ton of liquids to try to get better quickly. Since I was already so tired from the pregnancy this cold feels really challenging. One thing that's odd is that my appetite has disappeared and with it, the nausea I've had since week 5. I'm 11 weeks now. It makes me nervous, but I'm telling myself it's just the cold that's interfering with the symptoms of pregnancy. Thoughts?

Hi @Tulumina! I had a cold about a month ago, around week 8 or 9. It was pretty bad: sore throat, running nose, sneezing, coughing, etc. I worked from home a couple of days and took some Tylenol when the headaches got too bad, but toughed it out! Can't remember if I had any appetite changes, but I wouldn't worry too much... my symptoms tend to vary day to day. Some days I feel GREAT (and worry), and others I feel miserable (and am happy again lol). The one thing to look out for is fever. I took my temperature every couple of hours to make sure I didn't have a fever - could overheat baby and cause some problems. So if you're not running a fever, I wouldn't worry too much. Hope you feel better soon!

3. When is your next appointment? um it's in FOREVER. Nov 14th to be exact. Didn't get to see baby on Monday's appt - they only did doppler (heartbeat was strong and PERFECT ), so I'm dying to see baby!!!

@Tulumina Like @babylonghorn16 said, the biggest thing you need to watch out for is fever. I got one during my previous pregnancy, and it freaked me the heck out! If you do start to get one, the thing I would recommend (other than tylenol of course) is a bath that is about 98-99 degrees. If you have a meat thermometer you can use that to get the water temp before filling the tub. Your babe is well protected, so a few days of off eating will be fine.
@babylonghorn16 Oh my gosh, your next appointment is soooooooo far away! Why do you have 5 weeks inbetween appointments? Ick! As for heartburn, I've found that if I get it while doing anything other than sitting upright, sitting helps. It sucks because DH love to snuggle, and seems to always want to right after I've eaten. I have to tell him I'll only do it if he wants me to have heartburn then barf!

@Tulumina I have been pretty sick for the last couple of weeks with a cold. I didn't throw up at all during my first tri (but was nauseous) until I got sick, then I could barely eat. Just keep pushing the fluids, drink tea, etc. I'm seeing my OB tomorrow so hopefully she has some more hints of how to help get rid of this cough!

It'll be worth the wait though - they are doing anatomy scan at my next appt!!! We will see A LOT of baby then. Will have to shield our eyes when they look for genitalia - we are keeping as a surprise! Can't wait. Thanks for the tips on heartburn!

Its been a bit hard to be positive and not sick with worry after our vanishing twin, but we are definitely in a better spot and moving forward with a healthy singleton. @AandDM2014 would you mind editing the list above -thanks.
1.) How far along are you and EDD: 11 weeks and 3 days. EDD 05/03 although this has changed twice and the baby is now consistently measuring ahead. Confusing! 2.) symptoms: Almost none. I have had a couple of episodes of ms but for maybe 5 minutes. Tired, but that's been manageable. I would like to think I'm lucky, but I couldn't really enjoy the symptom-free existence because I kept worrying it meant something is wrong (will we ever stop worrying?). 3.) next appointment: Sunday 23rd Oct. Hope I get to see the lil one dance around again. Just amazing! 4.) anything else you want to share: I still can't believe this is happening and I cannot shake off the worry. Really hope that once the first trimester is over I can start enjoying this amazing journey. Taking a break and trying acupuncture before continuing another 3 IUI/clomid cycles. I also went back to my original RE; because of my age and normal tests, RE wants to try another 3 IUI and Clomid cycles before considering injectables or IVF.
