Sleep Positions

Anyone else a belly sleeper?! ... I can still get away with it, but I keep reading that by week 20 you should be in your side to accommodate pressure on veins, etc. Last time around, I slept on my back if it was comfortable and trusted my body that if something was wrong, I'd turn in my sleep. Not sure if that's the right mindset or not (seeing now that this applied to my indulgence in a chicken salad bagel sandwich today).

Anyways, just looking for your feedback. I was so lucky last pregnancy with sleep and am hoping for the same.

Edit: Um.. it didn't post my whole thread.
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him.

Belly sleeper here too. I hit 20 weeks tomorrow and it's really uncomfortable to sleep on my stomach; in fact, I would say it's just not possible. Which has resulted in tossing and turning all night :/ I sleep with a pillow under my belly and between my legs and I find I can sleep more towards my belly than on my side so that helps! I lay on my back sometimes but it's true, your Aorta lies right behind babe and so I never stay in that position too long.

  • I'm a belly sleeper too! I've got a rotation of 8 different pillows of all sizes right now and can't get comfortable. I kind of do a 1/2 belly half side position right now but find that it puts so much pressure on my bladder I have to pee every 10 minutes. Sleeping on my side hurts my shoulder. I wish they had a mattress topper with a belly cut out like they have at the spa where I get prenatal massages
  • I wonder if Amazon sells massage foam pads for prenatal massages?

Seriously, the snoogle was such a good investment. :)

  • I also prefer to be on my belly (and sometimes my back), but I've heard it's best to lay on your left side for the blood flow (?) so I've been trying the last few months to make that my new norm. I still feel like I toss around quite a bit but the snoogle definitely helps, I keep it on my left side and wrap my arms/legs around it as I fall asleep.

  • I'm a belly sleeper too. I'm 19 weeks, and still sometimes sleep on my stomach, but it's getting uncomfortable, it feels like I'm laying on a ball. I find myself flipping positions all night long. I try to sleep on my left side, but it's just not comfy.

  • I'm a side belly sleeper. I have a million pillows plus my snoogle. I'm at 20 weeks and a few days now. If I sleep on my left side, I can't sleep worth a crap though. Weird how one side makes a difference lol.
  • I'm a side and belly sleeper too! I have a body pillow, the Boppy pregnancy wedge pillow, two regular pillows, and sometimes I steal one of my husband's pillows as well....and I am still sleeping terrible!
  • Belly sleeper here too! I haven't gotten myself any special pillows yet but I'm finding comfort laying on my side leaning more towards my belly with a comforter between my legs and under me like a body pillow. I try to fully sleep on my side but I move so much in my sleep it never lasts.

The Leacho back and belly chic body pillow helps if you're a belly sleeper because you can rest yourself halfway onto the pillow kind of like on your belly and side at the same time.

  • I haven't gotten any extra pillows yet either. I normally sleep side belly is on the side. I try to do my left but it's hard so I wind up tossing and turning all night as well.

  • I've been struggling with this as well. Im usually a belly sleeper and I can still sleep that way fairly comfortably. I've been trying to force myself into the habit of sleeping on my left side though because I know that is supposed to be best but I always wake up on my back. And I can't sleep on my back because just like my first pregnancy, laying on my back makes me feel lightheaded and nauseous.

  • I finally broke down and started using my Boppy pregnancy pillow, it made a huge difference in my hip pain as it forces me into a better side sleeping position. I'm sort of a side/belly pretzel sleeper.
  • My MFM told me slightly propped up the the left side is best for babies and blood flow. With that being said, I am kind of jelly of y'all that can still sleep on ur belly. I have not been months ago. Can't. Too round. Snoogle has been a life saver. But now I still use a wedge to support the belly weight. I sleep on side or slightly propped up to one side (so kinda like on my back) I do sleep on the right but not as much as to the left. I miss belly flopping hop onto my bed and sleeping.
