@babylonghorn16 Here I am! Instead of waiting for my first u/s I decided to go ahead and join and be excited each day I am pregnant and try not to worry about things too much! And congrats on making it through the PIO!!!!! I can’t wait to get there too!

So, about me briefly. TTC since Jan 2013, unexplained, multiple failed medicated/IUI cycles, IVF, 1st FET in May ended in a m/c around 8 weeks, 2nd FET was on 9/21 and I have a BFP! First beta 10dp5dfet was 495, second beta 12dp5dfet was 1155. My first u/s will be Monday the 17th! @babylonghorn16 & @wifeinraleigh28 were my first friends on these threads and I am so excited to be preg with both of them and all the rest of you!
My projected due date for a singleton is June 9th. I think my RE will hold onto me until I am 10 weeks along.

@flanners1 Twins! Congrats. How wonderful to see those heartbeats! How many embryos did you transfer? How many dpfet were your betas? Just being nosy because I haven’t had my 1st u/s yet and RE said he was wondering if my one embryo had spilt.

@kelrauh I told my mom and that’s it so far. We might tell our other parents and siblings after our first ultrasound. But we’re undecided.

@PNW12RN Your story amazes me! Congrats!

@BlueEyedDreamer If the testing is available for me I would like to do it. We didn't do PGS testing.

@BlueEyedDreamer Congrats on being finished with PIO! I was just telling DH last night that while I'm glad to have a reason right now to continue the PIO, my butt is SOOOOO ready to no longer be stabbed every day!!!

I suppose the waiting is going by faster than I expected it to. Only about a week and a half to go now... and I remember when it was 3 weeks away. I am so excited to hear a heartbeat, but of course the alternative is scaring me too!

  • Had my first ultrasound today (5 weeks 4 days) and they saw a sac AND a heartbeat! I couldn’t believe it – totally broke down in an ugly cry – ha….. she said the heartbeat was around 122 (said a little hard to measure that early plus hard because I was shaking so much)

@kelrauh Congrats on twins – how exciting!

AFM - had my 13 wk appt yesterday and no u/s!!!!! WTF?! She found the heartbeat very easily with the doppler, and heart sounded strong. I REALLY wanted to see my little bebe yesterday! So bummed. Next appt is in FIVE WEEKS. Ugh! Oh well, glad everything is progressing smoothly!

Random rant - I'm abt to lose it on this older lady in my office. Every time someone comes and talks to me about my pregnancy, she just HAS to chime in and tell her stories OVER and OVER again... I'm so annoyed! Let me talk about MY pregnancy, please! I was talking about how we didn't get an u/s yesterday, and she was like "oh well you can't really see anything at this point anyway... it's just like a dot with a tail".... REALLY?! Maybe bc you had a baby in stone age when technology wasn't great, but nowadays things are different. I snapped that we could see baby very clearly @ 9 weeks and that they lose their tails at 5 or 6 weeks. UGH. And she keeps talking over me and not listening. She's seriously the WORST. *rant over*

  • I had an u/s yesterday because I had a super scary night the night before where I had really intense cramping and then some actual bleeding a couple hours later. I thought for sure that I was having a mc. But turns out that everything looks totally fine and RE couldn't find any cause for those symptoms! So, I just won't think about that scariness again. So here's what I know about tiny bean... There is one little one in there with an estimated heart rate of 130. !! Since Monday I have been feeling a little queasy and it seems worse today. I bought some protein shakes because I'm worried all foods are going to be icky to me at certain times of the day.

I've been so nauseous and exhausted the last few days. And it's worse the first half of the day. I haven't been able to eat breakfast and that's my favorite meal! DH and I are on vacation in Asheville, NC right now and we're staying at the most amazing/beautiful historic inn with a kickass breakfast buffet and I can't enjoy it!

  • @clt2pwm11 Don't want to scare you, but Listeria can be in lots of things... BUT it's super rare, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I did read, however, that you should avoid turkey deli meat at all cost because it has the highest number of listeria cases. Although, you can heat it in microwave until bubbling to ensure all bacteria is killed. But I don't see why chicken salad is an issue... I've eaten it several times. Unless it's been sitting out all day, should be fine.

  • Anybody gotten a flu shot yet?I got mine yesterday, and I know she said it's a dead virus, but I'm telling you I have been sick as a dog. Terrible terrible headache, low grade fever, chills, vomiting. It was mostly last night and early this morning. I'm starting to feel a little better. I guess it could be a tiny virus, but I don't know. Kinda weird that I got the shot and then started feeling that way.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 good news with raw egg yolk is you have the same risk of getting sick as a non-prego. And I think if you fall ill, it doesn't directly harm the fetus. Just you :). I understand not wanting to risk anything at all, but I think some stuff is a little far fetched. Read an interesting book: Expecting Better. Economist/mother gathers data behind all of the pregnancy no-nos. I like data and numbers, so I found it very enlightening to see the statistics on what is actually okay and what is not. I also like that she doesn't shove the result down your throat... rather, she gives you the results and lets you form your own conclusions/actions. Made me feel like I have a little more freedom in what I eat by knowing the cold hard facts.

@clt2pwm11 I got the flu shot a couple weekends ago. No symptoms for me. Sorry you are feeling that way! Maybe your immune system was compromised and a nasty virus took hold? Not sure. Hope you feel better soon though!!

  • I will warn you @wifeinraleigh28, she does go into alcohol during pregnancy and is very liberal with her findings. But again, she allows the reader to form their own opinions/actions without making you feel pressured one way or the other. I took that section with a grain of salt, as I will not be indulging in alcohol at all during my pregnancy.

  • I'm with you @babylonghorn16. Alcohol is not something I need so badly that I'm willing to take any risk at all with it, and I'll be honest in that I kind of judge any expectant mama who would. The truth of the matter is that there are babies born in the world who have been damaged by their mother's alcohol use. If you're willing to risk it, I think you seriously need to ask yourself why you're putting your own needs (scratch that, desires) ahead of your baby's needs.

@babylonghorn16 and @wifeinraleigh28 I'm with you guys on the no alcohol. I saw a woman recently who was clearly 6 or 7 months pregnant drinking wine at a restaurant. I couldn't believe it, but to each her own I guess. I took a quick look around, and she was getting all the judgement eyes from the other restaurant patrons! That said, I've heard some people say a glass of wine once and awhile while pregnant isn't a big deal, but I paid too much money to eff this baby up with alcohol!

Yeah, I don't think I would judge someone for a glass of wine... but I certainly have no interest in drinking one myself. Just doesn't appeal to me at all. My prego friends have had a glass during small get-togethers (not at a public restaurant), but I just don't get it. I want to wait until after baby is born so I can enjoy myself fully and have several glasses :):). Also there is no research stating any benefits, but we all know the harm it can do. So yeah, no thanks.

  • Hey all, just wanted to check in and see how our aug/sept ladies are doing?

For those no longer in the first tri check-in, we had our graduation appointment at the RE this past Tuesday, and our little girl was measuring perfectly at 8+2! Seeing the OB on Wednesday and hoping to get an actual heart rate (something my RE doesn't do which is completely weird).

I'm very symptomatic at the moment but so far still no vomiting (which I'm thankful for, I have a phobia). I hope that those of you in 2nd tri are feeling much better, like they say you will!

  • Hi all, it's my first time posting in the "success forum". I had egg retrieval in September, did a freeze all and then a single FET in October.
It's super early to be saying anything is successful, tomorrow is only my second beta, but I feel bad talking about my worries in the IF forum when they have much worse things to deal with.
I'm freaking out about tomorrow. I was feeling really sick with sore boobs already on the weekend and on Monday and then today I feel normal. If this one sticks it's going to take a long time to learn how to relax!

  • Oh and the alcohol front I'm a beer drinker and I'm in love with alcohol free beer.
It's been a life saver through IF treatments!
I have a local brand that just says low alcohol but the fine print says it's less than 0.5% which is actually the same as lots of soda.
  • Welcome @Nellin - happy to hear your transfer went well.
There is also a thread on this board called "1st Trimester Check-in" that has all of us newbie pregnant ladies discussing 1st trimester scares/worries/symptoms. It helps to chat with others who are in the same place... One thing that helped me get over my first few weeks was a saying from a lady on this board (not sure who it was anymore, sorry!), but she said she kept telling herself: "I am pregnant and I love my baby" every day. I started doing that too, and it helped me calm my nerves too.
I hope your second beta goes well tomorrow. Keep us posted.
