How far along are you? I'm 10 weeks. I remember this being a time I felt better in terms of nausea with #1 (later with #2, though), so I'm hoping for some relief soon!
How big is baby? ugh I never know! I need to see some other tickers.
Upcoming appointments? My next one is Halloween. I had a great first official appointment at which they scanned me a second time to make sure everything was ok and told me I had a SCH, which was the cause of my bleeding. I also got 5 vials of blood taken! Since then they told me I need to take antibiotics for being GBS positive. I hate taking antibiotics but I'll do as told.
Any new symptoms? I threw up for the first time this pregnancy. Until then it was "just" nausea without vomitting. I'm not looking forward to flying this weekend for a wedding.
Rants/Raves/Questions: I was impatient about the GBS thing, which was my question, so I already asked about it and women provided good advice. I was GBS positive for both of my prior pregnancies but we dealt with it at delivery, never before. So this is new to me. As for rants I also did that yesterday when I ranted about my friend's facebook experience with a guy who was willfully ignorant and rude about the challenges of pregnancy & birth. Then today a different guy (a friend of a male friend of mine) said the dumbest thing. This was in a thread about Trump's leaked tape about sexually assaulting women, in which this guy had defended Trump a bit and complained about Bill Clinton's infidelity (and how Bill's problem should make people less willing to vote for Hillary). After a bunch of us challenged him and we all went back and forth a bit, the dude said, "What
is the male version of "Feminist"? is it "Masculist"? I think I am
one, but I really don't know what to call myself. (I'm pushing for
equal rights for men)." My friend's response was "don't go there." My response was, "Pushing for equal rights for men = pushing for gender equality = feminist. That's what the word feminist means. If this describes you, you are a feminist." I hate this impression that feminists are pushing for women to have more and more and more. No, we just want the same. If you fight against feminism because you want "equality," you're doing it wrong.
Upcoming appointments this week or appointments made? I had one on Tuesday. I had an ultrasound scheduled, but since I'm 36 they cancelled it (it was only do the measurements to check for the potential of Down Syndrome). I was a little sad, because I wanted to see the munchkin. I got all of the NIPT testing, though. My arms are bruised up! I don't have another appointment until 16 weeks.
Any new symptoms or changes?
Nothing new, really - just exhausted and pretty much over it. I'm ready for the second trimester energy!!
Rants/Raves/Questions?
Ummmm....nothing major. Work has been crazy since last Tuesday. I worked through the weekend (5am-11pm both nights, fielding calls and emails). The big problem we were dealing with seems be resolved though, so I'm hoping things calm down. It's my 9/80 week, and I would really like to have my 3 days off!
GTKY: What is your favorite topping to put on ice cream? Hot fudge. Nomnomnom
@kat81 - there's always gotta be one of those people, doesn't there? Completely oblivious to the world around them, and ignorant to basic equalities that ever human is entitled to.
eta: my correct timeline. I can't keep up with how far along i am!
How far along are you? 8 weeks, actually kind of excited
How big is baby? raspberry, thanks PP
Upcoming appointments this week or appointments made? Monday is my first "real" OB appointment. Never been to this practice so I'm excited. I had DD 1000 miles away in IL so I am starting from scratch this time.
Any new symptoms or changes? Nausea is getting worse, not better. And I am wiped out, way worse than my last pregnancy. Hour-long naps every day and DH is even getting up with DD so I can sleep in a little. I am so grateful to work from home. BUT no matter all the extra sleep, I still am feeling exhausted.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant: I won a ski weekend in Maine this winter a few months ago. I haven't skiied in years since we lived in the Midwest for a while, and I was so psyched for this. But guess who can't ski? DH doesn't ski and DD has never been up (but I was looking forward to this being her first time). Pretty disappointed.
GTKY: What is your favorite topping to put on ice cream? Best sundae ever is a banana split from Friendly's, or at least it used to be until they got all cheap.
Upcoming appointments this week or appointments made? November 14th IPS1
Any new symptoms or changes?
Extreme Fatigue.......Nausea if I don't keep full........Peeing constantly.......Thirsty......Aches & Pains and all that jazz
Rants/Raves/Questions? Husband landed his dream job which will require us to move. Gave my notice at work - very excited to be at home with my DD and Baby #2.
GTKY: What is your favorite topping to put on ice cream? hot fudgeeee
How big is baby? A lime according to the bump app. But it must be the world's smallest lime because the one in my kitchen looks awfully big...
Upcoming appointments this week or appointments made? 12 wk u/s appt next Friday.
Any new symptoms or changes? Fatigue has been the worst yet this past week! I took the day off work today and slept, which is very unlike me. Other 1st tri symptoms are starting to subside except my jeans are starting to fit a little more snug these days. But I guess that's just par for the course...
Rants/Raves/Questions? Question: When am I supposed to stop laying on my back??
2nd Question: Anyone doing genetic screening (like getting an NT scan)? Why or why not? My husband and I were going to do the NT scan with the non-invasive blood draw, but then we decided not to based on my age (30) and absence of family history of genetic defects. Anyway, this just has me curious what other people are thinking/doing...
GTKY: What is your favorite topping to put on ice cream? I don't eat enough ice cream to have a favorite topping.
How far along are you? 10 weeks How big is baby? strawberry Upcoming Appointments November 15th is my next one. Had my first this week. All looked good and routine. Symptoms/Changes still the same gripes. Fatigue has been really bad. Occasional nausea. Round ligament pain and pain in my belly button (I have scar tissue from a previous surgery. It hurts with every pregnancy)
Upcoming appointments this week or appointments made? Nothing until 12 weeks
Any new symptoms or changes? Exhaustion. I can't bring myself to do anything after work except sit on the couch and mindlessly watch tv. Also, my sciatica is bothering me this week.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Work was the worst today. I had to break up a really bad dog fight (worst I've seen here), which ended up in dismissing one of the dogs from our daycare. And it really got me thinking about the changes I'm going to have to make to be safe once I'm further along.
GTKY: What is your favorite topping to put on ice cream? Love a combo of fudge sauce, chocolate chips, and pecans if it's vanilla ice cream.
@ScientistShesus I've been debating the tests as well. Part of me wants to get both the prenatal screen and carrier screen, just because I generally like to have all the info. Plus it'd be neat to find out the sex a couple weeks earlier. I think I'm honestly just a little scared to find out if something was wrong. But realistically, I think it would be good for me to be able to prepare for that. I'll probably get them.
@ScientistShesus And now, 20 minutes after my last post, I'm leaning towards not having the tests. Clearly, I have no clue yet! They probably wouldn't change anything other than me being able to mentally prepare. But the stress may not be worth it for me.
Upcoming appointments this week or appointments made? Oct 17th to meet with OB, 18th to discuss going on anxiety meds, Nov 8th for next ultrasound.
Any new symptoms or changes?
Tired even more, restlessness, nausea worsening, my entire body is sore
Rants/Raves/Questions? Someone suggested to me that I get a pregnancy pillow for my aches and pains.... is it too soon to consider that? lol
GTKY: What is your favorite topping to put on ice cream? mmmmmm, depends on the type of ice cream. Right now I could go for a peanut buster parfait though.
2 angel babies Jan 2015 and Nov 2015 BFP Sept 2016 Fingers crossed for a sticky rainbow baby!
Upcoming appointments this week or appointments made? I was supposed to have an appointment Monday but my Doctor had a family emergency and canceled. So they were able to schedule me with another Doctor but not until next Friday! Pretty bummed but I love my Doctor and feel bad that he has an ill family member.
Any new symptoms or changes? VERY MINOR nauseous, it really isn't bad but it still stinks!
Rants/Raves/Questions? Got nothing!
GTKY: What is your favorite topping to put on ice cream- yum chocolate!!
Those on the fence about genetic screening. We did not for our first two! We believe our babies are blessing and testing "wouldn't change anything." I have had two healthy girls. My first daughter I have had minor concerns since birth. She has always had lower muscle tone and is huper flexible. After years pushing the doctors they finally gave referrals. So far, one doctor has pushed for her to get braces for her feet and we have a neurologist appointment soon to discuss a potential genetic disorder. I don't know if this would have come up on any test but now wish we had a potential diagnosis early on so we could have gotten her help earlier on. We will test for this baby.
@starphish18 and @MamaMiller thanks for the input! It's a really interesting topic (albeit a very personal choice with no "right" answer) that I never had much thought about until recently (this is my first baby). None of my friends or family did the testing, and most said they opted out due to costs and lack of insurance coverage for the tests. But that got me thinking too.. wouldn't the $500-$1,000 be worth it if it means being better prepared in the delivery room? ...so much to think about...
How far along are you? 10w1d (since I didn't make it on here to post yesterday!)
How big is baby? Prune
Upcoming appointments this week or appointments made? I had my intake appointment with my new OBGYN on Monday. Since I'd already had 3 good ultrasounds with the RE, they didn't do another regular one but the doctor did have a handheld ultrasound machine (like the size of a cell phone!) and so we took a quick peak at the baby and saw the heart beating. I don't think that handheld one was capable of accurate measurements so we didn't get any of that done, but it was fun to see the baby again.
My next appointment will be 10/21 for a blood draw for the Harmony Test and other than that, I'm on an every 4 week schedule now for regular follow-ups and the next one will be 11/8.
Any new symptoms or changes? I'm still battling all day nausea, but recently it's gotten far worse in the evenings between 7 and bedtime. I'm not quite as tired as I was the first few weeks, so that's a good thing.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Only 2 more weeks and we can finally spill the beans to our 5 year old! I cannot wait because I've hated keeping this news from her. She is going to be ECSTATIC!!!
GTKY: What is your favorite topping to put on ice cream? I love sundaes with hot fudge, wet walnuts, and whipped cream. Yum!
DH: 34/Me: 35 Married: Feb 2008 DD: June 2011 TTC# 2: April 2014 BFP!! 8/29/16 --> EDD: 5/11/17....it's a GIRL!!!

How big is baby? A raspberry
Upcoming appointments this week or appointments made? I had my first appointment this week which included an ultrasound and a meeting with the nurse. I have an appointment with my OB on November 21st but won't have another ultrasound until I'm 20 weeks. Bummer!
Any new symptoms or changes? Just tired and always hungry. Trying to keep my eating under control!
Rants/Raves/Questions? We told my parents yesterday after the ultrasound and they were so excited. I tried to remind them it is still early so anything can happen but I wanted them to be able to share this time with us. Question: Has anyone bought an at home Doppler to listen to baby's heart beat? I know it's still too early for me but I would like to order one to have at home.
GTKY: What is your favorite topping to put on ice cream? I am partial to cookie dough, Reese's peanut butter cups, and hot fudge
@SKZW, I am not sure exactly how the ice cream shop makes it that we frequent (they make EVERYTHING there homemade and so delicious) but I Googled to see if there are any recipes online and here is what I found as an example recipe:
@ScientistShesus So husband and I made our final decision...just thought I'd pass it on. We're going to get the prenatal screen. I called my obgyn and asked if having a baby with a chromosomal abnormality would change anything about the pregnancy or birthing process. They said if there was an abnormality, I'd see one of the specialists to determine if any complications were likely so we could act accordingly to prevent problems. Because of that, we decided to get the test. We're skipping the carrier screen for now because we feel like it would add unnecessary stress. However, we would strongly consider getting it before our next pregnancy.
