Re: Weekly Appointments 10/9 - 10/15 (pre & post baby!)
How did your appointment go overall? Fine. Baby is fine...mama is miserable. Only 1 cm. dilated, 50% effaced. Apparently I have a super comfy womb.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Just doppler, strong fast heartbeat!
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Doctor says they'll only let me go as far as 41 weeks. So, I got that going for me.
Also, doctor said they'd sign me out of work whenever I wanted. I've been working from home, but I'm just so done. Was going to work through Friday - but decided to say screw it and make tomorrow my last day. So handed in the paper work and just need to get through one more day!
How did your appointment go overall? Just fine. My doctor is out of town (yes the week of my due date) so I saw a nurse instead. I never met her before but she was nice.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Both. They did a biophysical profile and baby is fine (although she was reluctant to move - she does not perform on demand!) They estimate 8 lbs. now.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? No dilation at all. Planning to induce beginning Sunday night - but I'm still hoping to have her on her due date the 13th.
For Fun: I give up on fun for now...I can't feel my hands. I'm sorry =( I have a cold. My mom was over today and I was pretty grumpy. On the plus side, tomorrow is my last day of work!

How did your appointment go overall?
Good. Made a little progress toward labor- 60% effaced and maybe 1/2 cm. Scheduled induction for Monday at 41 weeks.
Any ultrasound or doppler?
Doppler 136 BPM and a surprise ultrasound since she couldn't feel his head for sure since I wasn't dilated. Doctor was "92% sure he's head down" but I wasn't going to complain for a sneak peek! I think he has DH's lips (I sure don't have full lips to pass down!).
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
Didn't really have any questions.
For Fun: I give up on fun for now...I can't feel my hands.
I can't feel my right hand either.

How far along are you?
Robert Lee is 1 week old today
How did your appointment go overall?
Yesterday was his 1st appointment. Only down 5oz from his birth weight. He is happy and healthy. Go back next week for weight check
Any ultrasound or doppler?
Those days are over
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
Doctor answered all my questions about Robert.
For Fun: I give up on fun for now...I can't feel my hands.
Lets see, for fun, i like to breastfeed and change diapers.
How did your appointment go overall?
went ok. Kinzley is lga and I have a borderline pelvis so we have our c section scheduled for Tuesday pending the results of our 24 hr urine. Although she is lga my ob doesn't think she'll have problems after birth because I was not a diabetic or had a problem with weight gain.
Any ultrasound or doppler?
ultrasound. Kinzleys hb was 158.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
We are not going to go 40 weeks with this baby. She answered my questions about delivering a LGA baby with a borderline pelvis and the questions I had about c-section. Kinzley is measuring at 42 weeks and I lost 2 lbs since last app, although i feel huge and I'm over all this tummy pain i'm having. I'm just so ready to meet my chubby bunny.

How did your appointment go overall?
Painful, worst cervical check ever .. I literally was clenching the table and grasping for the wall.
Any ultrasound or doppler?
Doppler, baby sounded good.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
I just felt so rushed, I asked about a membrane sweep & he side eyed me and said no because I couldn't even handle the cervical check .. I felt shot down and didn't ask about induction ... he said to take off of work and lay down in the AC all day ... I have 3 kids and that's not going to happen lol. Another see ya next week thing, and saying that he will try to remember that the cervical checks aren't that fun for me. I wasn't even reclined all the way when he started poking around.
For Fun: I give up on fun for now...I can't feel my hands.
I wish I couldn't feel my hemorrhoids, ugh.
How did your appointment go overall? Fine, I guess. I asked my midwife about getting an induction at 41 weeks because I worry about it being so late (I work in healthcare) and she made it sound like it was really early to do an induction then. Plus initially it was just her student visiting me who can't answer my questions because they're specific to the policies of this practice, so somewhat annoying. Got my first cervical check, am 1.5cm dilated with a "soft cervix." I wanted to ask about effacement but felt that I was already being too annoying with my induction talk. I know, stupid, because they are there to help me, not the other way around.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Had a non-stress test today. Baby had to get buzzed because he's never really moved in the morning, moreso in the afternoon and evening. Otherwise, no problems.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I guess see above. Now I feel like I should just keep on waiting on baby instead of scheduling an induction. They are going to schedule it "early" on 41w0d in the evening because people tend to get bumped if L&D is busy.
For Fun: I give up on fun for now...I can't feel my hands. I totally feel you on the hands thing. I've gotten carpal tunnel, but mine usually goes away by late morning for the most part. Hurts so badly in the night though when I'm getting up to go pee for the umpteenth time.
WORF: I did not come here to admire the scenery.
DAX: If you say so. I guess we should just go home.
WORF: Well maybe. I would not be so hasty.
DAX: I take it the scenery has improved?
WORF: A few months ago, when I was commanding the Defiant on a scouting mission in the Gamma Quadrant, we encountered a protostar cluster, a swirling mass of colour set against a background of glowing clouds and burning sky. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, until now.
DAX: I've got to take you on vacation more often.
How did your appointment go overall? Good! I was an emotional wreck last week but I was more myself today. We are measuring 41 weeks so I really hope he decides to come soon.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler, baby is always tricky and makes them work to find and track his heartbeat. It's always perfect once they do get it though.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I didn't have many questions this week.
For Fun: I give up on fun for now...I can't feel my hands. This is my last week of work!!
How did your appointment go overall? Fine. No real progress since last week. Softer cervix but nothing crazy. *sigh*
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler --- still strong!
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Good news I won't go past 40 weeks if LO doesn't come on his due date then I'll be induced right away. I won't have to wait till week 41... thank god!

38 weeks
How did your appointment go overall?
Okay, it was fast. I've lost weight since last week but I feel like I'd gained a lot at the previous appointment since I was retaining so much water so I think this was more normal.
Any ultrasound or doppler?
Doppler, heart rate still marching along in the high 130s
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
Appointment was quick, no change in cervix which doesn't look good for induction at 39 weeks, but since baby is measuring very large for gestational age I don't think my doctor will let me go past my due date either. I think I'd rather deliver after 41 weeks if it meant I had a normal size baby though.

How did your appointment go overall? Good, it was fast. I am measuring small again this week. I was measuring right on at every appt until last week. Since they did an ultrasound last week to check her size when I measured small and everything was fine the Dr wasn't concerned this week. I guess I would rather her be measuring small at this point than measuring ahead.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler, hb was good.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I was a little concerned that baby had flipped around, she has been moving like crazy all week and I am feeling her kicks in a different area, but the Dr felt an was confident that she is still head down. Other than that I didn't really have any questions.

How did your appointment go overall? Nothing too crazy. Weight, bp, etc was all good. A little more progress- 1.75 dilated (he must like to be very specific lol), but still pretty thick. Baby's head is down but not super low. He does not anticipate baby arriving before next week's appointment.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Just doppler this week- heart beat sounded as beautiful as ever!
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I really didnt have any questions this week. I don't know what the induction policy is, but at this point I'm not ready to think about it! I'll just hold out that LO will come on her own in the next two weeks

How did your appointment go overall?
Good - 1 CM dilated but cervix is still thick and no other real progress. My doctor doesn't want me to go much past 40 weeks since there is apparently an increased risk of stillbirth past 39 weeks in mothers over 35? So...if nothing happens this week next week, I am scheduled to be admitted the afternoon 10/24 to start the process of thinning my cervix, and then proceed with induction the next morning, 10/25. I will be 40+2. I posted this on FB yesterday, but that date is super sentimental to me because my mom passed away on 10/25 eleven years ago. It used to be a sad day for me, but I'm thinking of this as a blessing, kind of coming full circle, you know? (Of course anything could change between now & then).
Any ultrasound or doppler?
Doppler & NST, everything looked good.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
No real questions.
For Fun: I give up on fun for now...I can't feel my hands.
I'm just so tired of being an emotional wreck all the time. I know it's going to get worse before it gets better...but it's got to get better eventually...right??

How did your appointment go overall?
First NST. Baby didn't want to wake up, but I managed to convince her to get to 2 accelerations and she seemed fine. Fluid levels looked good. I'll now be checked 2x/week.
OB appt after and I asked about induction for curiosity's sake. They don't induce til 41+6. It could be a long October. I declined the cervical check after last week's disappointment. I've had no contractions, so I'm pretty sure I'm still at a zero. ETA - the med student had the dates wrong and apparently I will be induced next Saturday at 41 weeks if I don't go into labor before then.
Any ultrasound or doppler?
Both. See above.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
Just the basic question about induction. Baby seems pretty comfy, so it's waiting time.
