Had my 34 week appointment today. Said I've gained 30 lbs which was "great". I was really surprised because I thought it was a bit less. I am pretty sure half of that was the first trimester back when I refused to look haha. I think I've gained maybe 1-1.5 every 2 weeks this last trimester.
Was able to clear some stuff up and some things I've asked or seen on here so I thought I'd share what my Dr said:
GBS test, they swab vagina - and I go "do they swab your butt too" and she laughed and said just the outside not the inside as it produces the same result. She said that the most technical compliance is internal but their office does outside because it gives the same result. I'm sure I gave her a good laugh
Braxton hicks - said it is possible for them just to occur on one side or in a smaller area. Said it could also be baby pushing on one area really hard but in my case it lasted on and off for 2 hours so she said it probably was BH.
Had a checkup this morning. I'm on weekly at this point. Not feeling so great(emotionally) after this one. The Dr said she wants to do an ultrasound next week to check on baby's growth because my fundal height didn't show much growth since last week. I've felt really good about my weight since I've been measuring on track despite not gaining a lot. Now I'm scared. It's not like I haven't been eating enough. I'm hoping it's just that baby may have dropped lower. The heart rate was good and baby moves around plenty so it's just that there doesn't seem to be much growth this week that isn't completely normal. My mom (a maternity nurse) said that if they were REALLY concerned and not just doing the scan as a precaution then they wouldn't be waiting till next week so that's slightly reassuring but I'm really feeling stressed and confused now. To add even more stress, I've been crampy and I've been getting sharp stabbing pains in my crotch which had me hopeful that things might be progressing. Nope! Still not dilated at all. I've been in pain the last couple days and I feel like I have nothing to show for it.
Next week on Tuesday I'll be having a growth scan and another checkup. In the meantime I'll probably be stressed out and emotional all freaking week.
No worries about the fundal growth... My doctor doesn't even measure my belly. She says it isn't an accurate measurement. I thought it was strange because my previous dr with my other 2 kids measured my belly. Try not to stress!! I'm sure all is ok!!

I would tend to agree with your mom on this one. Don't borrow trouble if you can avoid it. In the meantime, you need to do something that makes you happy and helps you relax! Go get a pedicure, walk on the beach, buy a new book. Something to get your mind off of your aches and pains! You can do this mama!
@tigerfish227 try to relax. I lost 7 lbs between week 27-30. I went from measuring 2 weeks ahead to having basically no belly at all. I was then really slow with putting on weight. I had a growth scan at 30 weeks. He was measuring perfectly!!!! And 3lbs 9oz!! My body then compensated and gained a lot of weight from 31-35. J was measuring perfect again. Another growth scan to ensure thinfs still were on track and they were again perfect with him being 6lbs. So despite my belly size and weight fluctuations he did exactly what he should have done the whole time!! Use this as time to get excited because you'll get to see your little one on a screen again before you meet him/her! (FYI extreme weight loss and losing all fundal height was due to 3 days of being super sick followed by emergency surgery and then recovery time. I am still off work (10 weeks now) because my OB is watching me and my weight so closely).
My 34 week appt went really well. Everything is on track and looks good. The braxton hicks are a huge bummer and I was basically told this is how I'll feel til the end (yay!). I have an appt in 2 weeks then I start going every week. I'm constantly reminding myself "i think I can, I think I can"
I had my 35 week appointment on Monday. Same old same old, weight, bp, fundal height, and heart rate. Found out that next week we will begin the cervical checks and also urine tests. I'm still measuring small, so we'll schedule another growth ultrasound at this next appointment. Crazy how close we're getting!
At my 36w appt now and have gained 11lbs in 2weeks plus my blood pressure was a little high and now I getting to do my strep b test and an ultrasound so hoping everything is good when she comes in!
I had my 36 week check up today along with my growth and position ultrasound! Thankfully baby is head down and weighing in at about 6.9 , although tech says it tends to weigh high so may be closer to 6. After the doc checked me said cervix is closed , but outer part is open about 2 cm. Still on track to make it full term with this one. Of course we all know mother nature has a mind of her own!! I will continue with my weekly appointments until this little one decides to come out!! I am so ready, but so not ready for it to come ! I have an 8 year old so even though I have been through this before it has been awhile and I sometimes feel like its my forst all over again!
No appt this week, but I go to the birthing center to pre-register tomorrow. I got scolded last week at my 34 week appt for not doing it yet. Have an appt on Tuesday for my 36 week check. They should do a quick growth ultrasound because C was in the 94% last week and they mentioned csection/early induction.

Finally home after my appt my doctor sent me to L&D to be monitored was admitted because baby's heart rate dropped but pre e blood work came back good and he managed to maintain his heart rate so thankfully I was released with a 24hr urine collection (gross but I will take it). Happy to be home in my bed still pregnant to say the least!
So this is crazy! Went to my appointment last night and she said I'm 1 cm still but my cervix is super soft. She took me off bed rest!! 10 weeks I've been on that couch!!! With the induction coming Monday night she said there's a chance at my appointment Monday morning if I'm 2 cm that I won't have to do the foley bulb so she said take a few walks this weekend, have sex, and walk around the store. The store! Haha I haven't been to the store in so long. I couldn't be more excited to go to the last farmers market of the year in Saturday. This sure is getting real, by this time next week I'll have a baby!
Had my 35 weeks appointment yesterday, got my GBS done, and received news that baby is head down and ready... I tried not to get too excited because my first was head down and then at 36 weeks he flipped and would not go back, so the scheduled a version at 38 weeks because of his size..... which he ended up only being 6lbs and everyone was a little shocked. so hopefully little bug will not give me anymore trouble with the rest of this pregnancy and stay head down. im really worried about having a newborn and getting my gallbladder removed all within 72 hours, its been giving me bad anxiety.
Had my 37 week today. Usual stuff. Measuring good, up about half a point. Baby is still breech and doctor doesn't seem hopeful he will turn at this point. Next appointment is next Saturday and that will be my last before my section if he doesn't flip!!
I was supposed to have my 36 week apt yesterday, but the MW was sick. The scheduler wanted me to just wait until my next one, at 38 weeks. I was recently admitted per-term labor and no one from the MW office even called to check on me, now they want me to go a full 6 weeks between appointments (my last was at 32 weeks)?!? I was super irritated and felt. really neglected. They gave me an apt with a new MW for Monday, which makes me feel better, but I'm just glad this is my second pregnancy because I'd feel so alone and unsupported if it was my first.
Most of the appointments are uneventful, but there is a reason we are supposed to be checked out, right??
@kristah2 Have you asked about a VERSION its a non invasive alternative to a c- section... its not always successful but it is definitely worth a shot. My first was breech and they scheduled a VERSION and just told me that if it didnt work i would go down for a section. They pretty much bring you in, give you an epidural so your muscles dont contract then a shot to stop contractions and use a ultrasound machine while doctor manipulates baby from the outside to flip him, if successful they will most likely start ctocine and get the ball rolling. i was extremely grateful my doctor offered that for me and it was successful,
@jessicarae614 my OB mentioned it to us a few weeks ago but he said he doesn't recommend it and that he wouldn't even perform it and rather would refer us if need be. He said in first time pregnancies they have a lower success rate (because your uterus hasn't been previously stretched) and the risks are super high with needing to do an emergency section while performing the version. He said if this was my second child it's something he would consider but with it being my first that he doesn't recommend it but left the decision up to us. We like to avoid unnecessary risk so decided against it. However im strongly considering acupuncture!!
