Symptoms Thread 10/12

How are you feeling this week? For those of us kicking the first trimester still, are things getting better?

Re: Symptoms Thread 10/12

  • For myself, I had three blessed days of relief from nausea. Then last night it came back and brought back with it the nasty taste in my mouth. Bleh.

Also switched to a new prenatal with iron since I thought it was high time I got some iron going, and as expected, constipation has come back.

Otherwise, I have to say some of the exhaustion is faded and while I still feel desperate for a nap, I'm at least better able to keep up with chores and work than I was.

Today I'm feeling my once a week nausea. And I have to go in for the preliminary diabetes test and drink that nasty concoction, so I'm sure it's going to be even worse.

Also I begrudgingly got a flu shot at my appt on Monday and I feel like crap from that too.

Oh, and yesterday I had some acid reflux.

I just overall feel like a hot mess today.

  • @KirstinH88 I'm sorry you've been feeling bad. I'm also sorry you have to take an early glucose test. I saw you talking about that on another thread. My doc merely said "hmm" to my mother's diabetes and nothing else. BUT it was adult onset diabetes so I suspect that has something to do with it. But grandparents on both sides are diabetic so I'm crossing my fingers I don't run into any trouble myself.
  • @HGRich I went to the labs to have all my blood work done and they didn't have the order for the glucose test. I'm not gonna push it! I'll just wait and see what my doc says at my next appt. I honestly think it's a bit silly to do a preliminary one..

I've been throwing up today every single time I eat, hasn't happened in the 13 weeks I've been pregnant. I pulled through a big meeting, ran to the bathroom after and there went my lunch! Morning sickness you are a bitch!

  • My food aversions are calming down, I feel like i have more options that I can stomach which is nice.  I do have a residual queasiness that causes me to throw up every now and then, but I do feel like it's getting better.

I feel like I am MORE exhausted these past 2 weeks, I've been spending some of my lunch breaks napping in my car just to make it through the rest of my day :(  On top of this, I've started experiencing insomnia these past few days where I wake up at 3:30am on the dot wide awake and don't get sleepy again until 6am (just about when i need to get up for work, yay.)

Here's to hoping that some relief is just around the corner in the 2nd tri!

  • I thought that my fatigue was getting a little less extreme for about a week and a half. It's back and I am also battling the insomnia. I have to wake up every 2-3 hours to pee at night and usually around 2-3 I can't fall back asleep. I just keep thinking of all of the things that I need to do that I was too tired to do the day before.
  • When will my uterus quit feeling like its on fire? I know it's RLP and my ute expanding, but geez! I don't remember it being this bad with DS.

  • Anyone else experiencing "shooting" pains in their boobs? It is only my right one but it woke me up in the middle of the night and felt like a dagger being shoved through the middle of it if that makes any sense. It is doing it off and on today and it makes me want to hold my boob it hurts so much at the moment but that'd be a little awkward at work! :)

  • I didn't throw up my entire first trimester. Yesterday at 15 weeks? I choked on cranberry juice and had to vomit uncontrollably into the kitchen sink while my husband panicked about whether or not I was actually dying and my son hugged my leg. Of all the luck!
  • Yesterday I had this very odd feeling in my vaginal canal.  It was like a shooting pain that lasted for a couple seconds stopped and happened a few more times.  I haven't had it since.  Anyone else?

  • I've been getting that too @mylittleirvz

The headaches! Worst headaches ever and they are every single day. Any suggestions?
  • @lovelongdog06 that sounds truly terrible.

@SDSwenson maybe you need to get better hydrated?  Sometimes even water doesn't cut it.  I put a dash of sea salt in my water (can't taste it) and that helps absorb the water.

I'm still nauseous at 13 weeks.  It's gotta get better soon, right?  DH and I just had a blow up about it because I'm so tired of him being unsympathetic and not understanding how bad it is.

  • @aboxofchocolates yes. I've had that off and on for a few weeks. It lasts a segcond or two and then goes away. It happens to me every few days.
  • @cafedisco thanks for the suggestion but I drink SO much water. I'll try the salt thing though.  A long hot shower helped this morning but I can feel it comingback.

Oh!  I've been having nightmares. Straight up,  murder nightmares. It's terrifying.
  • @SDSwenson me too! I had a nice serial killer chasing you through the house with the power out dream a couple of nights ago. Fortunately I seemed to retain an awareness that I was dreaming while I was dreaming it. Kept telling myself it wasn't real. But more vivid than I usually have and probably not helped by episodes of Criminal Minds. Haha.
  • @sdswenson, my ob suggested magnesium (500mg) and riboflavin (400mg) everyday for the headaches. I haven't been able to find the riboflavin but have been doing the magnesium and it's helped tremendously (or it's a fluke and I got past that stage?! ;) ). I was getting horrible horrible ones every day for the week or so leading up to my last ob appt (3weeks ago) and since starting that I've had maybe two or 3 minor ones. I do struggle with water intake though so I know that's a big part of it but thankful this is working for the most part!

  • @aboxofchocolates Yes - I had it periodically around 8-10 weeks, it went away for a while and I just felt it again yesterday.  I asked my OB about it and she said it's normal!  There was some discussion about it on a symptoms thread a while back too - Google "lightning crotch"

  • Ugh. Leakage when I sneeze has begun. And being pregnant makes me sneeze a lot!

  • Having a couple of weird ones this week.

The sneezing won't stop. I don't understand that at all.
On Sunday we went apple picking and I guess I've learned the LO doesn't like raw apples. We barely made it home before I lost all the apple I had ate and breakfast and then some. Haven't thrown up like that in weeks.
  • Oh man the headaches!!! Day two of one that won't let up. Nothing seems to help. I don't know what to do but lay here and moan while DD entertainers herself.

Oh oh and the achy uterus. Always aching. Blah!!

  • So I recently had a sinus infection which required a 5-day course of antibiotics to clear up.  I'm feeling a TON better, but my right ear has been blocked for about a week straight now.  I assume it's probably due to the sinus infection, but I've never had an ear blockage last this long before..... anyone else experience this?  I tried hydrogen peroxide drops to see if it was excess wax but those did nothing.  I have an OB appt Thursday so hopefully she can provide some insight if it's at all pregnancy related, because it's getting really annoying.  :/

  • @jdupree15 I read that raw food in general (except for bananas) is bad for nausea.

  • @Mama5181 I have been able to get some relief with a combo of hot showers, neck massages (even if to myself), tylenol and caffeine (doctor recommended actually). I at least get a couple of hours of relief... it always comes back though. My doc said I might keep getting them until week 22 or so
