BTDT C-Section Moms

Just wondering how everyone is doing this time around and what future plans are. Do any of you have tenderness around your incision? How long has it been since your c-section? Are you hoping for a vbac this time around?

Re: BTDT C-Section Moms

  • No incision pain here but my son is 23 months so it has been a while and things are all healed up and happy.

I an very pro TOLAC but haven't had an appointment yet so we will see. I'm not about to go out and hunt for some kind of TOLAC fanatic doctor but it will be good to get an idea of what his criteria are for a good candidate. I had to be induced last time for high blood pressure so seeing how that may or may not play into things is probably the biggest part.

  • My daughter is 3, but I'm still getting some pain. I've been told I have a lot of scar tissue, so maybe that's part of it?

DD was a csection because she was breech, so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to end up with a vbac. Who knows though? I'm not stuck on the idea.

  • It's been about 3 years since my c-section. I am anticipating a repeat c-section. Although, not completely ruling out VBAC if it is even an option. I have already worked through all of my negative feelings toward c-sections when my daughter was born, so I'll be happy either way. So far, no weird issues with my incision.

  • It's been 21 months since my c-section and it's healed great, I had a Hysteroscopy to check at the beginning of the year.  I would love to try for a VBAC this time if the OB allows it (should find out tomorrow) but with the blood thinners I'm on I don't find it promising.  I opted into my CS last time because of a twin pregnancy, I didn't want to risk healing in 2 places.

  • It's been 2 years and a couple months since my last CS. It'll be 2 years and about 8 months when this baby arrives! No tenderness around incision but it still gets a tad itchy here and there... my dr brought up doing a VBAC as long as this baby is not breech and no signs of preeclampsia. I definitely would love to try for a VBAC!!

  • C-Section here for sure. My oldest (20 yrs) had shoulder dystocia with a vaginal delivery, and ended up with a broken collar bone to get her out. My son (2.5) never crowned after 3 hrs of pushing had an emergency c. Won't risk it this time around. I am doing a gentle C and specifically looked for a hospital that is an advocate for it.

I have a very bizarre sensation around my C Scar since being pregnant. Like a tenderness to it. Not painful just odd.
  • Repeat csection here. Haven't even seen my doctor yet (first appointment is in 4 hours) but I've already decided. No incision pain at all (youngest is 27 months old). My doctor is an amazing surgeon, so I'm completely comfortable with the idea of another csection. That and both my kids have MASSIVE heads, and I have no desire to push that out. (I was induced with my oldest due to GD and another issue, but she never dropped into the birth canal. After the surgery, the doctor said her head was so massive, there's no way she ever would have.)
  • My second child was an emergency csection. My third child was born VBAC with no complications. I was terrified of something going wrong or the need to have a csection again.. and she ended up being 5 days overdue, which increased my anxiety about it as my hospital does not induce labor for those who have had a previous csection. When I did go into labor, I made my anxiety about a repeat csection very clear and they were willing to let me labor until it was no longer safe to do so.. thankfully everything worked out great and it was my best delivery of all 3. :o)

  • DS was born via emergency csection 21 months ago.  I have no incision pain at this stage of pregnancy.  My hope is for a repeat csection, although I hear that my OB is very pro VBAC.  We'll see how that conversation goes.  Csection recovery for me was incredibly easy, so I'd rather stick to what I know.  My hospital let's you apply for a family centered csection which I may consider but it's not important to me.

  • No incision pain, but I don't have a lot of feeling around that area either.  I had DD 3 years ago and I'm not really sure what I want to do this time around! DD was breach so that made my decision for me last time as well.  I haven't talked about it yet with my OB.

  • I am definitely going to try a VBAC unless my doctor gives me good reason not to. It will be over 5 years since my original CS so there's no issue there. I believe I may have been able to do a regular delivery back then had I not had an epidural way too early and had my doctor break my water on me (when I told him specifically not to).

My CS went great and my recovery was great, but I felt I missed out on the full experience of birth. I was completely out of it on the table, basically just looked at DD and went back to sleep, then maybe an hour later they handed her to me for nursing, and I really felt like I met her then. It was almost like they magically found a baby and gave it to me, there was no physical sensation that the baby I was holding was the one I had been carrying for 9 months.

  • I had DS 13 months ago via C section. I feel no pain in my incision, it's actually pretty numb still. However it does itch a lot. I'm really hoping for a vbac this time. There will be 20-21 months between deliveries and I know that some practices require you to have 24 months in between deliveries to even attempt a vbac. Still searching for a doctor that I feel won't be pushy into a repeat CS. I feel like my first CS was not necessary, I was just dealing with a very impatient doctor.
  • My Csection was almost three years ago. DS was really big and facing my spine, so I never progressed past 8 cm because he couldn't drop. My OB has already said multiple times that I would be a great candidate for a VBAC. I'm willing to try, but I can't help being really nervous about going through labor again only to end up with another unplanned Csection. So I guess we'll see as we get closer to the end.
  • My last csection was 4 years ago and no incision pain. This will be my third csection. First one I had pre-e and HELLP and my second was a planned repeat. So I think my third should be a repeat again. But I'm 100% ok with it!

  • My c-section was August 2015 (breach babe) and this baby will be one as well. I am experiencing some itchiness off and on but no tenderness. I had 2 tears in my incision about 3 weeks after my DD was born but my scar even with the surface tears has healed up really nicely. I am hoping that this time around no tears and to heal up just as well. I decided early on when we started trying for baby #2 that this would be a c-section as well.

My incision will sometimes have little pains here and there but not often. I plan on talking to my doctor about what he thinks about vbac. I'm nervous that he will say we should do it. My c section went really well and I healed quickly. Nervous to do something else.
  • Both my boys were born via C-section and I'll have a repeat this time as well. I had very easy recovery with both. My doctor does not offer vbac and I'm ok with that. They have a very family friendly policy and I was able to see DS2 right away and nursed about 30 minutes later.

  • As soon as I spoke to my Dr. after my first CS she said that I was not a candidate for a vbac...I just saw her for my 8 week appt and she remains firm on that LOL...so CS it is!  It will have been 23 months since my last cs when I deliver this time around.  My scar is super itchy and feels sort of weird, but that is all.

  • My CS was 2.5 years ago (it will be over 3 years when this babe arrives). Like a PP said, I felt like I missed out on the whole birth experience with DD. We ended up with a CS for failure to progress and her heart rate dropping with each contraction. I would love to try for a VBAC but my doctor kind of scared me at my first appointment. He is a "give you all of the facts" kind of guy, but won't tell you what to do. He is also not the same doctor that delivered DD. I guess I have some research to do, but ultimately will make the best decision for baby.
  • Just saw my doctor. He said 100% repeat CS, since I've already had two. Perfectly fine with that, since it's what I know
  • I'll also be having a repeat cs. For those of you who already know your hospital offers family friendly/gentile cs, how did you find out? From your OB? I'm really hoping for a better experience this time and think this approach would be better, but don't know if it's offered at our hospital.
