Re: High Risk Check-in (10/4)
My first pregnancy (A15) I had a 10 cm placental abruption at 27 weeks. No cause, rhyme or reason for my abruption. It just happened when I was at work making copies, massive bleeding and ambulance ride to hospital. Because of the serverity of the abruption and preterm labor with progression, I was in the hospital on bed rest until DS was born. By seriously the miracles of the world, we made it to 37 weeks on the dot. Multiple bleeds in between 27-37 weeks but he always looked strong on the monitors and ultrasounds so we rode the pregnancy out as long as possible! My perinatologist and OB said they've never had anyone with my severity make it past 32.
2. How far along are you? 5wks 5days
3. Treatment? Meds? Precautions? What does your doctor have planned out (if anything yet)
Nothing so far. The chances of it happening again is 10% (up from .07%) I'll just be monitored closely, many extra ultrasounds to check out my placenta. Watch for preterm labor signs.
4. How are you doing?
Some days I'm terrified, other days I feel peaceful. Overall, literally everything is out of my control. There is nothing I could have done to prevented my abruption, and whatever happens with this one is in the hands of the universe. However, I'm not sure I can do bedrest again or ANY time in the hospital, especially with a toddler.
5. GTKY: What are some of your "hobbies"?
Biking, gardening, LOVE to cook, being with family and friends. We live in MI so we also love spending time at our cabin on the lake boating, fishing, swimming.

1. Why are you high-risk? I was born with a heart defect (surgically repaired when I was 5), so my babies will be closely screened for an defects. And I also get an echo to make sure my heart can handle pregnancy.
2. How far along are you? 5 weeks
3. Treatment? Meds? Precautions? What does your doctor have planned out (if anything yet):
Just monitoring. *If* a defect is detected they can't do anything until baby is here unfortunately. And that's a big if because my babies only have a 10% of having it.
4. How are you doing?
I'm doing well. Anxious to see that heartbeat and know things are coming along well. Just want to get out of the first tri.
5. GTKY: What are some of your "hobbies"?
I enjoy working out, running mostly.
1. Why are you high-risk? A few reasons...
- my age as well as DH's
- I was on pain management during my first pregnancy due to a back injury which led to 6 months of inactivity and emergency spinal surgery right after birth. I just finished a year of hardcore rehab and so far I'm holding up...
- high BP and a history of pre-eclampsia (induced at 36 weeks)
- on medication for depression
2. How far along are you? 5.5, maybe??
3. Treatment? Meds? Precautions? What does your doctor have planned out (if anything yet)
-we already switched to the safest antidepressant. Will closely monitor BP. As far as the back goes, we'all play that by ear. So far I've been able to make due with just Tylenol. Scared to death that another collapse will happen when DH is out of town.
4. How are you doing?
Totally anxious just to hear that heartbeat and get through genetic testing. The weeks go by so slowly.
5. GTKY: What are some of your "hobbies"?
Cooking, photography, traveling, reading, comedy, hiking, camping.

far along- 5 weeks
meds- aspirin, metropropal, Zoloft
precaution treatment: fetal echocardiogram to check for heart defects on the baby after week 28
After birth I have to stay at our hospital's heart center away from my baby at the maternity ward.
How I'm doing- so far the normal worries- will I carry to full term, etc. but I am trying to pray and trust God with my family.
hobbies- taking care of my children, reading, walking.
How far: somewhere around 5 weeks.
Treatment: So far I am taking a baby aspirin to help with my blood pressure. This is what I was instructed to do during the last few weeks of my pregnancy. Also, I am really trying to eat clean. I have not seen my OB yet.
How am I doing?: I am sooo excited and nervous because I have a ten month old son and I am the bread winner. I cannot get put on bedrest again... haha
hobbies: playing with my baby! And anything outdoors!
1. Why are you high-risk? Cervical Incompetence; 3 pregnancies and no live births
2. How far along are you? 4+2, but actually I feel like I ovulated early and I'm in week 5. Time will tell!
3. Treatment? Meds? Precautions? What does your doctor have planned out (if anything yet)
Nothing so far. My last pregnancy I had progesterone right away, but that didn't seem to make much difference. Around 13 weeks I will get a cerclage to stitch my cervix close. I will probably also need bedrest some point after that
4. How are you doing?
Fine but nervous. Anxious for first appointment, which is 4 weeks away!
5. GTKY: What are some of your "hobbies"?
Reading, watching tv (especially documentaries!), trying to be crafty . Haha
2. How far along are you? 5w5d
3. Treatment? Meds? Precautions? What does your doctor have planned out (if anything yet) There will be more checkups near the end, but since nothing showed up physically or genetically, there's no way of knowing how to prevent it from happening again.
4. How are you doing? Nervous. Looking at Doppler machines. Excited for our daughter to have a living sibling.
5. GTKY: What are some of your "hobbies"? I do hair, read, write, get angry about politics, and enjoy cooking and baking.
2. How far along are you? 4 weeks, 5 days
3. Treatment? Meds? Precautions? What does your doctor have planned out (if anything yet) I take a baby aspirin daily and give myself an injection of Lovenox (blood thinner) every night.
4. How are you doing? Im doing well. Lots of nausea and the exhaustion has hit, I love it!
5. GTKY: What are some of your "hobbies"? I have two small kids and work full time, so there isn't much spare time for hobbies, but I love fitness and being outdoors.

They took me off of one med and I am monitoring 3 times a day. My numbers have been bad. I will likely go to insulin when I go into my appointment next Thursday.
