  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?
It's been a hard week. Feel less than ideal and toddler has decided that diapers aren't for wearing, yet wants nothing to do with the potty. And she takes off her clothes with regularity. I even ordered two pairs of escap-pee-jays... which so far have been working. But, I'm pooped (as in tired of this)!

What are you most looking forward to this week? (Open question):
I don't know. Maybe my parents coming for a visit and getting us some childcare so we can finally talk about names on a much needed date night!

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Well, despite my hoe-hum-ness our toddler is talking a lot and it's about as cute as can be! She just has the best smile and is a delight.

We are very low maintenance when it comes to Halloween... we basically twill our kids about and hour or two before trick o treating to go make or put together their own costume. We have a bin. I have a cute bumble bee costume or lady bug for toddlers we will decide that day... no stress.

  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?  Pretty good I think! Pregnancy has been super hard on my energy this week, and just trying to keep up with DS is hard sometimes! But luckily he likes couch time with DH so I get to sit down sometimes.

What are you most looking forward to this week? (Open question): Its a four day week! I have columbus day off and haven't gotten out of bed before 6:30 sat, sun, and today. DS is still sleeping.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Question: Sometimes I worry about DS's sleep schedule. Like something is wrong with him. On the weekdays, we are up at 5:40am and off to work/daycare, and he takes 1, 1.5 hour nap but I guess its usually not great according to them. Then he goes to bed at 7. Thats like, 11 hr 40 ish minutes of sleep, maybe 12 hr and 10 min if he has a great nap.

On the weekends he's in bed at 7, but doesn't get out of bed until 7, and take 2-2.5 hr naps that start IN THE MORNING. He can't even make it past 10 on weekends before he's temperfitting and trying to bite and smacking things in the face. So on the weekends, he gets like, 15 hours of sleep. Sometimes I worry that daycare sleep schedule is messing him up, I guess, and I feel guilty about it. Its my latest mom guilt fixation.

Bonus question: Have you decided what your toddler will be for Halloween??
Yes! I am still trying to get my ish together but we have four dogs, and they will each be one of the TMNT, and DS will be Splinter, and DH will be Casey Jones, and my dad will be Shredder, and I am going to be that dude with a brain in his stomach. I wanted to be April but it got nixed due to the cost of procuring a 1 time wear bright yellow trench coat, lol. This is the most elaborate I have ever gotten for Halloween, so we'll see if I can pull it off.
  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?
I feel good about this past week! My DS is becoming much more independent, being pregnant  has made me see this as a blessing rather then a thing to sob over which I would probably be doing if I didn't need to the rest while he plays alone in the evenings!

What are you most looking forward to this week? (Open question):
I have a two-day (in town) leadership conference I'm looking forward too.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Has anybody considered getting their toddler a baby doll to try to teach them about a baby? I still think my DS has NO idea what's going on...

    Anything you want to add/share?:
So happy it's finally cold enough for fleece one-piece jammies! Toddlers in them are even cuter then little babies!

Bonus question: Have you decided what your toddler will be for Halloween??
Ahhh, NO! Need to put this on the list.
  • @smashjam - you described our sleep schedule mess almost to a T. What's more is I feel toddler sleep is incredibly important. Sorry to not have a solution but just - we are exactly there too. We are trying to get him on a consistent schedule but it's not happening.

  • @slartybartfast thanks for the commiseration. Its nice to know someone else is struggling with it and its not me or DS alone!
  • @maamawaabangi Lol.  Your LO acts just like mine.  My son is always taking off his clothes.  It's even worse at bedtime.  He will take off his pajamas and pull up.  Then wet the bed during the night.  I'm going to have to look into the escape pee jays.

Could be better, but my husband is picking up a lot of my slack.

What are you most looking forward to this week? (Open question):

My sonogram that is on Thursday.  I love getting peek at my baby girl.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:

Probably the same as @maamawaabangi - My son is constantly taking off his clothes.  He is also being potty trained.  For the most part, he will pee in the toilet during the day.  However, he will not poop in the potty.  Also, he is always saying that he needs to go potty just so he can flush the toilet and then wash his hands.  He loves playing with water.   Because he is still being potty trained, we take him to the bathroom every time he says he needs to go.  But it's getting ridiculous!  He will say that he needs to potty 3 to 5 times in one hour and maybe only pees once.

    Anything you want to add/share?:

I'm loving the slight cool down into the 80's here in Texas.  I can wait until it actually turns cold.  I love the Fall and Winter seasons.

Bonus question: Have you decided what your toddler will be for Halloween??

Lincoln, my 2-year-old, loves PJ Masks so I'm thinking of going with one of the characters from the show.

  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?

Coasting at best. We just transformed the guest room into a playroom so I'm feeling pretty good about that, but my energy is overall zapped now that I'm regularly on Dramamine. Wah.

What are you most looking forward to this week? (Open question):

today was an ultra sound. We had a teen UP the road who goes to our church watch DD1 and I had 2 hours of quiet time while I went. It was glorious.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:

DD1 has decided to rage against naptime. She sings and talks in her crib for 1-2hrs before falling asleep. Our schedule is all wonky now. I'm not ready to be done with nap time. Hold me

rave- she really loves her baby sister. I was fooling around and put a pencil in my belly button and she yelped out, "no! Be careful of baby sister!"

Question- anyone doing anything to promote milk production before your EDD? I never did anything leading up to DD1 and had awful production. I'm wondering if there are ways to be proactive this time around.

she HATES costumes. So I had to get creative and order fox overalls and hopefully they will suffice as costume-y enough but also normal enough to make her think she's just in normal clothes.
