  • @mcdonald-bailey I'm glad you've been able to overcome the fear!

@jenny0228 it IS such a hard stage of pregnancy! Stuck In-between the awful first tri-symptoms and before the later second tri with lots of movements! So hard to trust all is okay--but you'll get there again real soon!
  • 1: How far along are you? 21 weeks this week!
2: What are your goals for the week ahead?
5 days of weekday morning workouts during DDs nap. Elevating heart rate and getting some tired muscles--but not pushing myself as I take it easy with my hip joint. Monday is all done! 4more to go.
3: How was last week? snuck in 3 mini very modified morning workouts despite saying I was going to take one more rest week to fully recoup my hip. It felt so good to get off the couch and get moving a little bit.  Went to the fair this weekend and walked around a ton which made it a little achy. And indulged in lots of fair food treats.
4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
Going to continue to give-in to little cravings throughout the week and let myself indulge instead of being so tough on myself.
5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? RANT: I'm just so so so excited to be participating here again "for real" this week. I was genuinely nervous that I was done working out for the remainder of my pregnancy. I may have to take it a bit easy on my joints for the remainder... but that's better than nothing! Random: I am finally feeling like this baby is actually happening.  Organizing DD1 closet and pulling out her old baby clothes ((not very old because she's only 14mo)) was the switch that finally turned on to make me feel like this is actually happening again!? Baby #2!? Most days I still can't believe I have baby #1. Does this feeling ever go away?
6: GTKY: What State are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there?
I'm from Maine-I love it up here. The 4 full changing seasons, the scenic beauty and all the outdoor activities-the ocean + the mountains, the wildlife, the people, the local food.  But I am not a fan of the sub-zero temperatures/long winters, or crazy tourist seasons.
  • @mcdonald-bailey glad to hear you are feeling better about working out now! PGAL is so hard.

@kjd291 great to hear your hip is feeling so much better! What a relief that you can get back to your routine, I know it was so frustrating to have to wait. Sounds like the rest did you well, even if you did sneak in a few workouts!! ;)

I LOVE Maine - we go to Portland every year, planning a trip up there in Nov for a little get-away before I get too big to enjoy a road trip. What a great state to be from, and to raise kids in! I left CT as soon as I could, I appreciate it so much more now as a visitor though. But I'll never leave New England, we live in MA now.
  • 1: How far along are you? 18 weeks & 4 days
2: What are your goals for the week ahead?
4 workouts! Maybe 5 if I'm motivated enough after work to get a workout in. I skipped this morning's workout due to a terrible night's sleep :(
    TUES: Cardio + Lifting
    WED: CrossFit + Cardio
    THURS: Cardio + Lifting
    FRI: CrossFit + Cardio
3: How was last week? It was ok. Worked out 4 days which included 2 days of CrossFit, 3 days of Running, and 1 day of Weights
4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments?

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Having trouble with people coming up to me and saying "Ooooooh,  I can see that baby bump" or "You're really starting to show now." It's such a strange thing for me to hear. On the one hand, I'm so grateful to be progressing in this pregnancy after multiple losses, but when people say those things to me my mind registers it "Ooooooh, look at how fat you're getting." I know it's silly and dumb but it's a struggle for sure :(
6: GTKY: What State are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there?
I grew up in southeastern Massachusetts. Love the Fall foliage and the large Portuguese community (I'm 100% Portuguese) but hated the winters. Now I live in Southern California, been here for almost 2.5 years. I love/hate the weather. Some days I'm just over the heat. And the traffic is just terrible. Takes forever to get anywhere!
  • 1: How far along are you? 15w6d

2: What are your goals for the week ahead?
get 4 workouts in, hopefully 5!

3: How was last week? overall pretty good, I did 4 workouts (but I'm counting the afternoon I spent cleaning every room in the house as one of them because I was exhausted & sweaty by the end haha)

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
I've been cooking a lot of different things recently, so I'll continue to indulge in some good healthy food. Even though during the week DH & I don't get to eat together because I get home from work too late, it's so nice to have "real food" to come home to and to take to work instead of the crackers/granola bars/belvita's I used to always subsist on when I was at work. Throughout my pregnancy so far I've only really been craving "real" food, especially things like roasted veggies.

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I also feel like my mind twists the comments people say about my belly showing/weight gain, and takes my thoughts to an unhealthy place that I thought I'd never go back to. It's been a few years since I got out of the cycle of living with an eating disorder and I've since been able to develop a really healthy body image/relationship with food, but I'm not gonna lie...there have been a couple days over the last few weeks that I've felt triggered (esp. after a comment my FIL made last weekend) and I have to consciously pull myself away from falling back into that old mindset.

6: GTKY: What State are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there?
PA - I love it here and can't imagine ever moving. We live only 20 minutes from our parents/where we grew up, and are in a very central place where everything is just a short drive away, including our jobs thankfully. I feel like the ease of access & the seasons/weather are the best things about where we live. I hate snow/ice so even though we don't get nearly as much as some places I could do without that aspect of winter.

  • @kjd291 Welcome back!

@jenny0228 I agree that this is a weird time in pregnancy. Hoping the 27th comes quickly for you!

    1
: How far along are you? 19 weeks tomorrow!

2: What are your goals for the week ahead?
I want to get on at least two cardio workouts and two long walks

3: How was last week? It was ok, I could've done a little better with eating but certainly not my worst week

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
I'd like to get a manicure and pedicure if I have time

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? none right now

6: GTKY: What State are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there?
I'm from NJ. One of the best things about living here is the close proximity to both the beach and the mountains/country, there is definitely something here for everyone. The worst things about living here are the traffic and the misconception that life here is like an episode of The Jersey Shore (it's really not like that!)

Yay Maine! Portland is a great little city! I hope you have a blast when you come up to visit!
So true that you just never appreciate home until you leave. I never saw Maine for all that it offered till I left for my college years - now i definitely appreciate the chance to raise a family here.

  • 1: How far along are you?
    17 weeks 3 days

2: What are your goals for the week ahead?
I would to get at least four workouts in this week. I am just getting back into the workout groove.
    3: How was last week?
DH and I went on a 4 mile run last Monday and that was pretty much my only workout. We received our flu shots last week and I felt icky and tired the rest of the week so I decided to take it easy.
4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
DH and I are in our friends' wedding this Friday. I am going to indulge in some treats but will try not to go overboard. I figure since I am saving calories because I'm not drinking, I have room for some extra sweets.
5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms?
I need Netflix recommendations. When does GOT premiere? Having withdrawals. Lol
6: GTKY: What State are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there?
California. Best: weather, beautiful beaches, wine country, Tahoe, SoCal, Disneyland, San Francisco list goes on.
Worst: Traffic and cost of living
  • @triwellnessgirl @serenity13 I am also struggling with people commenting on my body. It's very strange, I thought I'd be happy for people to comment about the fact that I'm starting to look pregnant. And I've stopped wearing baggy everything (how many swingy tops can one woman have, honestly) so I am actually displaying the fact that I am indeed pregnant, but it's still weird to have people looking at my bellly and say it. We went out to dinner with a few close friends the other night, and these are people that have known about my whole IVF journey and have known from the beginning that I was pregnant, but I hadn't seen them in a while. When they saw me they said, "WOW! you really popped! Look at that baby belly!" which is just strange to hear. Hopefully I'll get used to it - but I totally get where you both are coming from.

1: How far along are you? 17 weeks tomorrow!

    2. What are your goals for the week ahead? 3 CF workouts and 2 days of walking and/or biking

    3. How was your last week? Not too bad. Did 2 CF workouts. It rained our entire getaway weekend so we did not do any hiking. I did a lot of sleeping instead and it felt amazing!

    4. How are you going to treat yo self this week? I would love to get a pedicure at some point. But for this week I may settle for soaking in my tub with Epsom salts.

    5. Questions? Concerns? Rants? Raves? Randoms? Workouts are starting to feel more difficult. I can tell my body is shifting around and sometimes I feel woobly when I'm doing squats or lunges. Yesterday we only had an 8 min AMRAP and a minute and a half in I was like, "when is this going to be over?" lol

I've had some strange comments. The ones about my belly don't bother me as much as a friend who said, "you aren't fat yet" and my MIL who said, "you don't look that big".... I don't understand if these are back handed compliments or what? Like I'm supposed to be bigger at this point?! So strange.

    6. GTKY: What state are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there? Pennsylvania. I've lived here most of my life but still spend a few years in Maryland, which I adore. Best thing is probably the scenery and having four seasons of weather. I like to see the seasons change. Worst thing is probably our outdated laws which include not being able to purchase wine at a gas station. Of course this law just went away during my pregnancy. Go Figure!

1: How far along are you? 17 Weeks 6 Days

2: What are your goals for the week ahead? PRENATAL YOGA!!!! :)

3: How was last week? I have so much energy, I walked to an from work about a 20 min walk everyday, I also went swimming with my sons.

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments?  I plan on going for a Prenatal Massage this weekend.

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Random Rant: My last Well baby appointment was on 10/6, I met with a different physician in my doctors office, the office requests patients to rotate who they see through the duration of their pregnancy. My appointment was made more than 30 days ago, he listened to the baby's heartbeat (Best Sound in the World), and that was it, no questions asked, no suggestions, nothing. Why are doctors not as attentive to patients and give us 5 mins? I know the heartbeat is an important part of the visit, but what about everything else they should ask and inquire about. I really wish I can find a doula or a midwife.

6: GTKY: What State are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there? I live in Northern NJ. The best part about it is how close it is to NYC having access to different prenatal classes, workshops, events, and hospitals is very good! The down side is how overly priced the costs of everything is

  • 1: How far along are you? 16+1

2: What are your goals for the week ahead?
Walk at least 30-40 minutes every day, start my prenatal yoga video and work on my arms and legs while watching TV.

3: How was last week? I was on my feet walking a lot for work and family activities, so I gave myself a break from formal workouts.

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
I have been enjoying a small bit of ice cream each night. I eat pretty well the rest of the day and haven't gained anything yet.

6: GTKY: What State are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there?
Originally from the coast of Massachusetts - I love it there and wish we could move back, but we visit our families a lot. It's so beautiful and relaxing and great being near Boston and the ocean and enjoying all the seasons. Now we live in Central CT and we still get all the seasons. We're putting down roots here and making it home. It's a good place for us.

  • @jenny0228 I totally relate to everything you've said. While I'm excited to be pregnant, I'm surprised at how uncomfortable I am getting attention for it now.

@kjd291 I've also been struggling with reminding myself it's okay that I'm getting bigger. That this is what is supposed to happen. I've definitely decided to stop weighing myself after seeing how much weight I gained when I weighed myself at the gym today.

  • Ok, so I'm super late to the checkin, but here I am!!

1: How far along are you? 17 weeks +3

    2. What are your goals for the week ahead? I would like to get in 4, but would be happy with 3 because this week is getting so busy

    3. How was your last week? Not Bad! Was able to get all 4 workouts in, but could've done better with eating

    4. How are you going to treat yo self this week? I just signed myself up for pregnancy yoga today!!!

    5. Questions? Concerns? Rants? Raves? Randoms? Like I said earlier, I'm struggling a bit with the attention I'm gagging and comments from people. I don't like being the center of attention anyway. Also getting super bored with my recipes. I think I need to raid Pinterest for new ideas

Overall, glad I've been able to stick to my workouts though!

    6. GTKY: What state are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there? So I'm from Kansas originally. I hated living there growing up because I always thought it was so boring and there was nothing to do. But I realized my last trip home that KC is really actually kind of a fun and cool place. There's great BBQ, cost of living is low, and loads to do downtown. It's just a bit more boring if you're out in the suburbs.

  • Happy Hump Day.  Ive been genuinely debating napping instead of working out... so to keep myself accountable I'm checking in to say I AM going to do a modified HIT workout. Going to go press play!  Hope you all have a good day!
  • So I was running yesterday, doing my usual slow jogging on the road, and my RLP was really bothering me. I also had some very slight tingling near the lower front of my uterus. So I stopped, and walked the rest of the way. It went away as soon as I started walking. I was hyper aware of all the feels down there for the rest of the day. I was lying in bed last night and I SWORE I felt something. Felt like really subtle popcorn-y feeling. Fluttery. I have not been looking to try to detect movement because I'm only 16w and I feel like its really early. But this was VERY different than anything else I have felt.  <3
  • 1: How far along are you? 17 weeks +6

    2. What are your goals for the week ahead? Not put on anymore weight. I'm severely annoyed. Despite my efforts I am packing on the pounds with the pregnancy.

    3. How was your last week? Terrible. I was out of town and staying with family. No time for workouts.

    4. How are you going to treat yourself this week? Last night I visited the chiropractor

    5. Questions? Concerns? Rants? Raves? Randoms? I am trying desperately to slow the weight gain. I have an appointment Friday with the OB and I am hoping all looks well.

    6. GTKY: What state are you from? What are the best and worst things about living there? Florida I hate the traffic, the rude people and the heat. Also I hate the hurricanes.....

The man I love has lived here his entire life. He will never leave.

  • @rw3190 Dont be discouraged and dont focus too much on the weight.  Every body is different and is just doing what it needs to take care of baby. Obviously we can control how healthy we eat and how much we exercise-but you have no control over the amount of weight you'll gain. Your body is gonna do what your body needs to do.  I had one friend who ate very portioned amounts of only clean foods, worked out every day and still gained 50lbs by the end of her pregnancy.  50lbs = healthy!!  Another woman I know didn't exercise once and mainly ate pure junk food and she barely gained a pound = unhealthy!

What matters is that you and baby are healthy! Not that number on the scale!
  • 1. 18.3 weeks
    2. Next week 2 yoga classes, 2 bike days.
    3. This week I've already done yoga twice & want to do 1/2 days on the bike.
    4. I'd love a facial or a massage.  Maybe.
    5. The weight gain is annoying but I'm finally
coming to terms with it.  I've gained a whopping 27lbs.  I'm a size 8 in normal pants now (normally buttoned), borrowed my mothers for work the other day lol.  Have DD boobs up from Bs.  Most of the weight gain has been in the first 2 months, I'm now only gaining a lb a week.  My OB is very strict with weight gain but said I was a little underweight beforehand and not to worry about the first 8 weeks of weight gain (15lbs).
    6. NH.  I loved the winters and snow
  • So can I vent?
we had our anatomy scan today and it was such a downer.... Barely got to see the Baby and didn't learn much at all. I'm so confused. I know the tech isn't supposed to say anything and I know it's protocol for the Doc to review the results with me, but my next appt is Nov 1!!!!!! I thought we were going to see the lips and the nose and count the fingers and toes, and get an updated due date. Nothing. The tech just said everything seemed fine,  which I'm grateful for, but I really thought today was going to be special. So bummed :(
Oh, and she stopped halfway thru my appt to hop on her computer and type away, after flipping the lights on..... I asked her if everything was ok.... she said it had nothing to do with me...

Anyhow, heres.  a pic from today .... <3
  • I'm sorry you had such a bummer of an anatomy scan @triwellnessgirl, but you baby is absolutely adorable!

  • Ughhhh! @triwellnessgirl I am SO sorry that your anatomy scan wasn't everything it should have been/you expected it to be, and your tech wasn't talkative or helpful.  Makes me so mad for you!!

And you do have a perfect looking little bean <3 love the little hand waving!
  • Ugh what a bummer!  I'm sorry but look how perfect the little one is  :)
  • @triwellnessgirl that tech sounds like they weren't really considering you at all! I'm sorry to hear it wasn't the experience you imagined. But the good news is everything sounds fine and your little baby looks SO perfect! Did you find out the sex? Or do you have to wait til Nov?
  • @triwellnessgirl that tech sounds so rude! I'm sorry you had a bad experience but your LO is looking amazing! Hopefully you can talk with your dr before your Nov appt to just confirm everything is good & wasn't overlooked by that tech.

  • How is everyone's week going? I'm falling a little short of my original plan since I got stuck at work late 2 nights this week! I was feeling very stabby yesterday since I was at a meeting all day where we had to walk around a room and look at designs pinned up on a wall and make comments. Day started with a 7a conf call and ended at 7p with me walking around giving my boss my feedback from the pinned designs while he SAT in a chair and typed my comments into a feedback document. WTF!! And he ate all my almonds I brought to the meeting! Add to that a long commute on either side. I was happy I was able to drag myself out for a short run today followed by some sets of garage lifting (hang power clean+jerk then back squats). And voila - my crappy day yesterday is totally erased by getting a good sweat on! Cheers to the weekend!
  • Ready for the weekend over here! My hip has been sore again the past few days --BOO! -- but I've still gotten little mini strength training sessions in the past couple mornings. I miss my high intensity cardio... but it's much better than nothing. Already looking forward to my first post baby workout. Hahah.
  • @jenny0228 that stinks about your day yesterday, I'm glad today sounds much better & hope you can enjoy the weekend ahead!!

@kjd291 I'm so sorry your hip has been hurting again, your determination is inspiring though! Keep doing what you can without overdoing it, it sounds like you're still doing a great job fitting in some exercise!

I got 4 workouts in so far this week & am gonna try to squeeze one more in Sunday, fingers crossed! (hopefully posting this will encourage me to stick to that plan)

Anyone have any plans for the weekend ahead, fitness or otherwise?

My SIL just told us she & her husband will be in town tomorrow so we may try to get together with them at DH's parents house tomorrow night for dinner, even though I don't think either he or I really want to...Sat was supposed to be our date night to pick pumpkins & go out to dinner. Every year we get pumpkins & then carve them together the week before Halloween, but this year my work schedule won't allow us to go to the farm anytime except Saturday evening, so hopefully we can still make it work. :)
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @serenity13 I hope you're still able to make the pumpkin patch today!

Ive only had 2 workouts this week, because work has been so mad. I'm really hoping that I can get a workout in today and tomorrow to make up for it. My stupid gym closes at 5pm though, so I need to try to convince my hubby to want to go in earlier. Otherwise I'm going to have to just go on my own.
