Itchy rash on belly

ive developed a seriously itchy rash overnight. I know it's pregnancy related because I got it with my son and I actually looked it up in the pregnancy videos I did with him and it started at 10 weeks too! Exactly where I'm at now. Anyone experiencing belly rashes? It's splotchy little red dots. I also remember developing eczema during my last pregnancy and don't know if that's related. What can I put on it to soothe? Last time coconut oil didn't, or any oil really.

  • I haven't had this but I do have eczema and very dry skin when the weather is the way it's been here. I use honest company healing balm. It's amazing and natural so it should be safe while pregnant. Otherwise you could ask your doc about hydrocortisone. Not sure about that during pregnancy.

  • I just came down with one yesterday. It's between my thighs on both legs and goes all the way down to my knees. I've never experienced this before. It's so bad.
  • Check with your Doc to see if its PUPPS.  Its basically an allergic reaction to your pregnancy.  I had it with my son.  Usually starts around the 2nd trimester. For me I had hives on my stomach and thighs.  They were able to treat it with cortisone cream.

  • Ugh, yeah I remember my dr telling me it could be pupps  but unlikely since it's so early but idk what else it could be. This is pregnancy number three, c'mon body you should be used to this by now!
  • It's horrible! Last pregnancy it lasted through to like 16 weeks or something. So itchy!!!!
  • I actually started to develop around 11-12 weeks.  So there is a possibility it is the beginning of it. Also an interesting fact is a majority of the cases of PUPPS happen in pregnancies of boys.  I found that interesting.  Everyone I know who've had it ended up having boys. Hmmmm....

  • I had PUPPS with my last pregnancy but it wasn't until I was 39 weeks. And yes I had a little boy  :)
It was so incredibly itchy and even clothing would irritate it. I used Benadryl Itch Stopping Cream and that's the ONLY thing that worked for me. It was pretty bad.
  • I can't relate to PUPPS since I've never had it but I do have super sensitive, easily irritated skin and I get hives/rashes regularly. If you're willing to try an allergy med obviously Benadryl will be the strongest but it will knock you out. Zyrtec is a "second generation" antihistamine meaning it won't knock you out and Zyrtec has more skin/dermatological action than Claritin or Allegra. Also FWIW your own Dr is the source of truth but Zyrtec and Claritin are considered safe in pregnancy but there is some emerging data that Allegra is not. Hope you get relief soon!
