Had my second ultrasound yesterday. Both babies are doing great and measuring 8 weeks, which is exactly where they should be. Nice strong heartbeats for both, A's -170, B's - 165. Was given Zofran because my morning sickness has been so bad I've lost weight. So far it seems to be helping a lot. Besides that, all is good. ad

Not much going on here. I think our next US is 10/5. Heartbeats were good last time, but I was only 7 weeks. I'll be almost 10 on our next US apt. I have nausea, but luckily it's not too bad. I'm still trying to wrap my head around having twins, and 4 kids all together.
@Luckyu317 I feel the same way. Twins was a huge shock! DH and I have a 3 year old son and my husband has a 19 year old son and 14 year old daughter from his first marriage. We still can't believe we'll have 5 in total.

I just found out a few hours ago that I get to join you ladies! We are so excited... We have a 15 month old daughter and two little nuggets set to arrive around the 1 of may now! I was shocked that there were really two but I had had a feeling (and dreamed about it). We were around 7 weeks today (one measured 6w6d and one was 7w2d). Based on my LMP I should have been 7w2d but I know I ovulate late.. so they kept my due date based off LMP as May 15th, but said they'd do a csection at 38 weeks. they were very happy with the measurements and heartbeats (150 and 152) and we have another ultrasound scheduled for exactly two weeks from now!
I'd appreciate any advice on twins.. there are none in my family! I'm such a planner so I'm trying to figure out what items I will need!
Since you're a planner I'll give you the best planning advice I was given. Have everything ready by the time you are 28 weeks, you will thank yourself a ton.
@Jkp7749 Welcome to the twin club! I'll probably wind up being an April mom since I don't see making it till May. My OB also wants to do a c/s and I'm not 100% on board yet. I had a vaginal birth with my son and think I'm going to push for it if they're both head down. Of course they're safety comes first, but the thought of a c/s is kind of scares me!

@chickyclg I am so glad to have an excuse to get it done early! @mia1116 Thanks! I had a csection with my daughter, I progressed quickly, fulled dilated and engaged but after pushing for almost three hours they determined my pelvis was too small to deliver naturally. my daughter became distressed and they had to do an emergency csection. I've heard that this diagnosis isn't normally accurate and I'm not super small or anything so I was kinda doubtful but then again I'm not a dr and my daughter certainly wasn't coming out. After talking to my OB about this pregnancy, I guess we'll just go for the csection instead of going through all that again. Honestly, it wasn't that bad- obviously natural would be better- but it was quick and the recovery wasn't terrible.
@Jkp7749 I'm glad to hear that the recovery isn't too terrible. That was what really scared me. It's so early still, so I guess I'll cross that bridge later on.

@Jkp7749 I felt them move around 15-16 weeks, it felt like little tickles. I could give you all the encouragement you need to breastfeed twins, I made it to their first birthday. We started out on feeding tubes in NICU, graduated to bottles with 1 "practice latch" a day (they were too slow growing to latch full time at first), I exclusively pumped for the first 4 months and then started being able to latch them both.
I'm so glad to hear it! we went through a lot with DD's tummy so I was only able to nurse for 4 months and was really looking forward to nursing this time.
I just found out today that I am joining you all. After over a year of trying, which included a loss and 7 infertility treatment cycles, we saw two strong heartbeats today! The first happy u/s I have had in a long time. I also have a daughter who will be 3 in October.
I am really nervous, because I know I have a long way to go. I can't help thinking that twins mean twice as much can go wrong, but I'm also trying to stay positive! So happy to join you all.
Joining the twin club (late) as well, though I'm really nervous because they looked discordant already (at 10 wks by LMP - my first u/s) especially with respect to amniotic fluid volume. I have a sinking feeling it's TTTS and I'll lose one or both.
@mdlorenz Did they tell you the type of twins you were having? Also I have a good friend thats twins had TTTS and once they got a little further along she was able to have laser surgery to separate. They were 29 weekers but now they are both over a year old. Take one day at a time hun.
@mdlorenz Also just my personal story, my baby A measured 12 days behind at my 12 week appointment and his heart rate was slower than it should have been. We were brought in and counseled about vanishing twin syndrome, the scariest day of me pregnancy. He slowly started growing a little quicker but was always my smaller baby until the very end when my daughter was diagnosed with IUGR. I wish you nothing but the best.
@chickyclg I don't know what type they are yet. I'm hopeful that they are at least dichorionic but I won't hear for at least another day. Thanks for the kind words.
I've been lurking for awhile and finally am able to comment. I know you ladies already have an additional check in but I wanted to share. @mia1116 I took Zofran with my son and he ended up having a minor heart murmur. My pediatrician asked if I took Zofran and said there are studies saying it can cause that. I took Zofran all 9 months and therefore have serious mom guilt. I would do a little research on it and maybe consider switching.
@kaley04 My son's neurosurgeon told me that yes while there are a risk of birth defects (as with all medications in pregnancy) doctors have to out way the risks, but it is also still remains a class b drug. If a pregnant mother is extremely dehydrated and unable to absorb nutrients from food it can lead to the loss of the pregnancy. Not trying to say that what you are saying isn't valid because I had the same concerns, we were just told that do the risks out way the reward and thats how a lot of doctors make their decisions. I took several other drugs and Zofran was the only thing that worked for me.
@kaley04 I appreciate the advice. I'm only taking 1 in the morning unless the afternoon is particularly awful. I also take diclegis at night, and while it helps then it does nothing in the morning. I'm really hoping that once the first trimester is over I won't have to take anything.

Just lurking too. @mia1116 I wouldn't worry either. My doc doesn't prescribe Zofran now til about 9 wks, but I took it starting at 5 weeks with my son. I had HG and was hospitalized a few times and was given a Zofran drip. He's perfectly fine. All drugs have risks however it is still considered a class B so theres that too.
@mdlorenz my BF had mono-di twins with ttts. It was found late and she ended up having them at 28 wks. The girls are 2 1/2 now and the cutest little things. Completely caught up with the kids the rest of their age as well. They were in the NICU until their due date just to grow. Hoping its not that, but if found early they can due the laser surgery too that I've heard is very successful the earlier you do it. Good Luck!
Thanks @schnitz9 - so far no one except DH and I seem worried about the discrepancy. But then again, not much to do about anything now ... Now *another* challenge is keeping the twins part of this pregnancy under wraps. Way harder than expected! I want to tell all the people.
Re: Mom's of Multiples Check In
@mia1116 Zofran saved my sanity with my twins, but make sure to also take colace or miralax to avoid zofran constipation.

How early did you feel your twins moving? Is breastfeeding twins realistic??
