Re: TW Tuesday 10/4

  • Time/aging. I feel old! Okay, I KNOW I'm not old....doesn't change the fact that I feel old.  In about two months I'll suddenly be a mother of two, and then about two weeks after that, I'll be 30. Yeah...I feel old lol.

  • I had an mtg with someone last week.  They cancelled the day of because "it's supposed to rain" and they didn't want to walk to my building.  I told them it would be tough to reschedule and reluctantly offered them a time today that wasn't really long enough to cover everything we needed to but was really all I had.  They confirmed yesterday that they were coming.  They are now 15 mins late to this mtg which we already didn't have enough time for with no word on whether they are on their way or not.
  • @penelope4612 Haha did you have a meeting with my mom? A couple of weeks ago she cancelled lunch with me because it was supposed to rain that day. People are strange.
  • The TW are the nurses at my OB's office, and myself too, for letting me go months into this pregnancy without checking my thyroid like I asked, and asked, and asked them to do over the phone. They made me feel like I was being so neurotic and unreasonable when I was trying to insist that I let the matter drop. Fast forward to two weeks ago when I mentioned in passing that I'd once been on thyroid meds to my doctor and she immediately ordered my thyroid be checked and now is saying it's imperative I start taking something. Regardless of who shares the bulk of the blame (I'll take a good portion for not pitching a bigger fit) it's nothing but frustrating and makes me worry about my baby.

  • @penelope4612 you're right, I never even thought of that, but men totally never get those comments! I get so tired of being told to smile...it doesn't make me want to smile...it makes me want to throat punch the person. I'm going to start carrying around this picture of me when I was like 2 that proves that RBF was something I was absolutely born with lol.

  • RBF is real!! I suffer from it as well. If I had a nickel for every time someone told me to 'smile'....
  • @brittnic86 I also hate when my boss tells me to smile...sometimes he winks at me when he says it and him and I have DEFINITELY had big, union documented fights before so its even more insulting. Men definitely don't get that same treatment and its unfair.

@dmontgo I was thinking to myself that someone else had a cancellation recently because of rain and was wondering, I wonder if those are related incidents....but I forgot it was your mom and lunch haha
  • I'm having issues with a new employee... new as in the person just started yesterday. The entire pre-boarding process has been problematic with the person and now this person has taken to complaining to my counterpart. She gave me a debrief this morning as to how this person's orientation went and also shared with me that she felt this person was being a bit hostile towards her. Between the issues that took place during pre-boarding, the problems that he apparently has with me, and the way in which he treated my counterpart yesterday I had to report everything to my boss. I know that I have done nothing wrong and neither has my counterpart, but am very frustrated with this new employee because it feels like he's deliberately trying to get me into trouble. My boss suspects this may be a cultural issue, that in his culture women are not often in my type of role at times can be threatened by a woman in a "power" role. I am choosing to believe that is false and that he is really just upset with me because I refused to break company policies for him. Either way the last two days have been long... feels like it should be Thursday!

  • My TW is a parent of two tudents I teach. At some point she decided that we let her kid get bullied at school and do NOTHING about it-so she told her kids not to tell us when thing happen to them anymore, that they should tell her and she will deal with it. So far she has:

1)Told her daughter to punch a kid in the face and kick him in the nuts next time he bothers her, and take the punishment.

    2) told her son that my coworker should be fired on the spot, which her son promptly came in and told us.

She also doesn't tell us when she has problems, she tells the school nurse, who totally relays the info to us, but still-not the nurses job! The worst is that the kid is not really bullied-the kids are mean to him sometimes because he can be an a**hole. He purposely tries to get other kids in trouble he is hands on all the time, and he's super whiny and is always trying to get an adult to fix his problems. So, newsflash lady-your kid is NOT PERFECT and is kind of bringing some of this on herself. I'm just a little sick of hearing that everything that happens at this school is my fault. When do the kids have to take ownership for their behavior?
  • My TW is this whole dang pregnancy. Thursday-Sunday I was not able to keep down any solids or liquids, so on Sunday I went to L&D for the third time this month for more IV fluids. My OB changed up my meds a little bit; I am now on pepcid, zofran, phenergan, a scopolamine patch, and reglan. I may be missing one but that's the gist of it. I've still been throwing up yesterday and today, so today I went to a walk-in clinic to get a referral for a GI specialist because in my area the specialists won't see you without a referral and our PCP is booked up til middle of November. At the clinic they told me that they couldn't do anything for me and they wouldn't give me a referral because they didn't think anyone would see me while I was pregnant. I just want to not be sick for the next 8 weeks. Of course I want Rhett to be healthy and not have anything wrong with him but at the same time I hope he comes sooner rather than later. :(
  • @ashleaf2018 I cannot imagine how much this sucks for you! Hang in there, and hugs to you!
  • @SmashJam It's pretty bad. On top of that when I told the doctor I go to school full time, she said, "Yeah, you should probably just drop your classes this semester and stay home and rest." Ummm, excuse me???? I have already paid for this semester plus my grades are really good! In three different classes I have gotten an 85, 92, and 91 on the tests, even with missing to go to the hospital. Plus I'll be sick at home, not much different from being sick at school. I was just like, really, I paid the co-pay to see you for you to tell me to drop out of school for the semester?? What a joke.
  • @SarahF8611
This is me today. I'm in a hell of a mood. OR everyone else really is a twat. Which I prefer to think. One of my coworkers tried to blame me today for something she forgot to do...it didn't work out for her because it was apparent she was just trying to finger point, but seriously? She's definitely a twat and a toddler. How do people get through the adult world like this?!

  • @ashleaf2018 that is so frustrating! My GI doc would totally see me while pregnant. I wonder if you could try calling around for a GI doc that will talk to you over the phone... maybe a hotline? Does your insurance provide anything like that? I wish I could be more helpful... thinking of you!
