Re: ** First Trimester Check In Week of October 3rd **

  • @ddvj79 I'm glad your appointment started off well and you got to see a viable baby! It can be challenging to see anything that early, especially dependant upon the ultrasound machine. I hope you get to really see it next time! And that more talk of OBs doesn't worry you. Just think if you were a regular fertile, you'd only see an OB, and not until between 8 and 10 weeks!

    2. Symptoms have really subsided, but I got a nasty cold last week so that's been fun...
    3. Oct 14 with my OB
    4. The cold his made m throw up a few times, so that's been weird.
QOTW:  not much has changed since I already have a LO, but I am so tired at the end of the day!

  • Welcome and congratulations to all our newcomers! Wishing you a H&H 9 mos!

    1. I am 9w5d today - EDD is 5/5/17.

    2. Nausea and exhaustion are my main symptoms currently. They gave me Diclegis to try for the cause. It worked really well for a couple of days, and then it was like I was back to my old nausea. I increased the dose today - hoping for relief! What's weird is that the nausea gets worse if I eat, so it makes me want to just not eat anything, which is bad for me AND the baby. I am miserable!!!

    3. Next appointment isn't until 10/20. We are seeing a MFM for a targeted first tri u/s that day (whatever that is...).

    4. I put my HCG levels into that website, and it said I had a "very high" chance of multiple, but I only ended up with one little muffin in there. So doubling time is not always an accurate predictor - you may just have a strong growing embryo!

QOTW: Like @AandDM2014, I am usually a big runner, but I have had to put that aside for IF and now pregnancy. I kept walking up until my transfer, but I haven't been able to exercise at all since then. I really miss it, as it's a great stress relief for me.

@Rachnan I'm coming down with a cold and dreading how it's going to make me throw up. Since becoming pg, coughing for any reason triggers my crazy enhanced gag reflex and often leads to puking. Not fun!

  • 1. I'm 9w1d, EDD 5/9.

    2. My symptoms have been confusingly inconsistent. Queasiness now and then, irritability sometimes, tiredness. I had a horrible headache starting Thursday night all the way to Monday night and thought I would never recover! And then it went away and all of Tuesday (yesterday) I was convinced something was wrong because I felt TOO good. Cue late-night googling "9 weeks disappearing symptoms HALP."

    3. But luckily I had my 2nd ultrasound appt today with my RE so we confirmed everything is fine. This was my graduation appointment and I have my first regular dr appt a week from today. Instead of one massive appointment, they had me do an hour-long phone consultation today for general history and pregnancy info, so next week's appt can be a little more streamlined. The nurse who did the phone appointment was totally clueless about IVF so I had to explain the whole process, LOL, and even then she kept asking irrelevant questions, like what my LMP was to determine the due date (so I had to explain the timeline of LMP, BC pills, stims, egg retrieval, etc). I sometimes forget other people get pregnant any other way!

QOTW: Like others above (@AandDM2014, @BlueEyedDreamer), being out of my normal exercise routine is really taking a toll. I'm not a runner but I hike(d) for an hour or two most days, and about a week into stims climbing uphill with enormous ovaries wasn't doable anymore. I'm slowly trying to get back into walking but the fatigue makes it hard.
  • @cato99 Um, an OB nurse knowing nothing about IVF would piss me the f&#@ off!!! Unacceptable!!! Honestly... But glad to hear everything is going well with your little one and that you are graduating!!!

  • Hi Ladies. Hope I can join in here. I was a long time lurker in the  general Infertility thread before getting my BFP. About me.

    1) Met with RE after 2 years of TTC. 12/2015 *Unexplained Infertility*
    2) Three IUI's, all BFN.
    3) Two separate surgeries to remove polyps.
    4) Start IVF. 07/2016
    5) Retrieval. Developed mild-to-moderate OHSS. No fresh transfer.
    6) FET, 09/26/16.
    7) Beta #1 on 10/03 (my RE test early IMO, that's 7dp5dt). Beta @107 !!!! BFP !!!!
    8) Beta #2 on 10/05 so 9dp5dt, Beta @ 261.

I woke up this morning, on the day of beta #2 to very light spotting, pink. An hour later *TMI ALERT* I had what looked to be one small clot, burgundy in color. Told a nurse during my blood draw. She didn't seem concerned. I've been fine the last few days (& today). No cramping or pain, or anything. I feel my usual self and want to hit the gym (I have't though for fear of doing damage). I'm thinking I should at least email my regular nurse and ER re spotting/clot. The nurse I spoke with today just draws blood. Google seems to give me 2 extremes, normal to miscarriage.

Anyone experience early bleeding? Nothing since early this morning so fingers crossed that was it and it was residual stuff, idk.

ER wants Beta #3 next week (16dp5dt) and wants the # over 1,000. Assuming all goes well our first U/S is @ 6wks Day 1. EDD 06/14/16.

After IF its inevitable that I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I'm caught between wanting to buy cute little clothes,  and telling myself that my third beta will drop and this won't end well. I hope this feeling goes away and I get to enjoy being pregnant and get a take home baby.

@cato99 I'm a big hiker too. I've found I can still do it, but I have to slow way down, take more water than I normally would, and break frequently for snacks. Some days I don't feel good enough to do anything, but this past week the hubs and I started on a gentle trail and I was feeling really good so we stated up a more difficult trail, and I managed to compete it! It was about 6.5 miles round trip. The husband had been really good about encouraging me to listen to my body and to quit when I am ready. When we got back to our campsite, I had a mini-meal and took a nice long nap in the hammock. I'm ten weeks and I'm not sure how much longer I can do this, but I'm going to keep at it while I can! Plus I am only twenty seven miles away from my year end goal!

JaneJane  Welcome!  I hope this helps - I had some little red spotting after beta and pink just before. I also had really bad cramping along with back cramps my Beta week. The cramping was so bad that I had nausea from it and couldn't even stand up. My first Beta was in the 70s (10dp5dt FET) and second in 180s. I remember my IVF coordinator saying they ideally like to see the first Beta > 100 but technically anything over 50 is considered good. My RE did more HcG draws to keep my anxiety low , ask yours if they will do that for you until you are ready for you first US. Keeping fingers crossed for you to have a beautifully doubling beta tomorrow.

DH :  36, has Chronic Kidney Disease, on dialysis & is waiting on the transplant list (average wait for B+ is 5 years)

Me:   36, Hypothyroidism, PCOS, BMI 32, need to be done with "child bearing" ASAP so that I can be a Kidney donor (was fun realizing we didn't as much time as we thought :-/ )

    We're TTC#1

    IUI #1 : 5mcg Letrozole (CD 3-7) + Ovidrel Trigger + Had the one follicle = BFN  (March 2014)

IUI #2 : 5mcg Letrozole (CD 3-7) + 150 iu Bravelle on CD9 (after much begging!) + Had the one follicle = BFN (April 2014)

7th May 2014 - changed REs, this one seems to care (we think....)

    IUI #3 : 7mcg Letrozole (CD 3- 7) + 75 iu Bravelle (CD 8-12) + CD12 Scan 5/16 + Had 3 follicles (2 under 15mm) = BFN(May 2014)

    IUI #4 : 7mcg Letrozole (CD 3- 7) + 75 iu Bravelle (CD 8-12) + CD12 Scan 5/16 + Had 1 follicle + DH gave best sample so far = BFN(June 2014)

IVF#1 -  ER Only Cycle Sept-Oct 2014, 17  eggs Retrieved, 14 mature, 10 fertilized, 6 made it to Blast & post PGS  5 were not viable due to chromosomal abnormalities
Not sure where we go from here...

We're parents to two very adorable, bratty, affectionate & goofy Bernese Mountain Dog pups who would very much like a 2 legged baby brother or sister of their own!

  • Welcome @JaneJane and congrats on your BFP! I understand those early anxieties all too well because I'm in the midst of it myself. I'm analyzing every symptom. Like this morning I had some mild but sharp pains in my uterus when I had to pee. It went away after I peed but of course I was like "omg what is that? Is my baby ok? Did something go wrong?" I want to just be happy and enjoy being pregnant! And I do, at times, but it's hard. Good luck to you and fingers crossed that all will be well with your next beta and your first ultrasound!

    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? Under arms are sore, some nausea, peeing in the middle of the night.

QOTW: How has your infertility journey and being newly pregnant affected your day to day activities? I just worry constantly that I will lose her or about the delivery. Infertility kept me in a constant state of worrying. I'm always on my toes. Otherwise, I don't find pregnancy too difficult yet. Maybe infertility prepared me to handle anything.

    1. How far along are you and what is your EDD? 5 weeks + 2 days
    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having?  I don't know if it's the pregnancy or the PIO but my breasts are very tender and swollen.  I'm definitely peeing a lot!
    3. When is your next appointment? October 18th fory first ultrasound
    4. Anything else you'd like to share? I'm wondering if anyone else started out with low beta... my 8dp5dt was 35 and my 12dpt5dt was 196.  It more than doubled but I'm still scared to death that it's too low for a viable pregnancy.
QOTW: How has your infertility journey and being newly pregnant affected your day to day activities?  So far I've been taking a nap every single day. I'm an adjunct professor so sometimes I'll even fall asleep in my car in between classes

  • @bpfeiff1984 Congrats and welcome! I didn't start with a low beta, but I know many ladies on here did. And it's hard to compare numbers with many others b/c most REs do first beta at 10dp5dt, but yours was 8dp5dt. So that may be why your first # seems low compared to others. If you are more than doubling, then that is great! Are they doing a third or fourth beta for you? If you are nervous, that may be something you want to ask for just to ease your mind until your first u/s. Wishing you lots of luck and a H&H 9 months!!

  • Thanks @BlueEyedDreamer!  They don't seem considered since I had a good doubling time.  They essentially considered it a third beta since my first was on a Thursday.  They're closed on the weekend so they had me test again 4 days later and mu numbers had doubled twice.  Normally, they would do a beta every other day for a total of 3.  I'm definitely thinking about calling them in the morning. I've been taking the CBD tests with the weeks estimator and it's still registering 2-3 weeks which is stressing me even more.  I'd feel much better if it would just register 3+ so that I could know that it's over 2000.
  • Hello Everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA.  I am still struggling with antepartum depression.  My mom came in for the weekend which was great!  I'm 14 weeks today, so I will be moving to the 2nd trimester board tomorrow.  I hope to see all of you there soon!

  • @bpfeiff1984  I agree with @BlueEyedDreamer  if you had tested at 10dpt, based on your numbers, you'd have been at least at 70. I would try not to worry! I did have a low starting beta, as I know a few others on here did too. I started at 22 10dpt. But everything doubled or more and I'm now almost 11 weeks. Fx for a great first u/s on the 18th! and Congrats! :)

  • Welcome @bpfeiff1984! Lots of girls on here start out with betas similar to yours and go on to have successful pregnancies! I had to take others' advice on here and stop POAS because all they do is stress you out, and really don't give you any definitive information. Good luck to you, just one more week until your ultrasound!!

@cmm012 I'm so sorry to hear you've been struggling  but glad your mom came to visit! Congrats on graduating to 2nd tri! :)

  • Thank you @halips and @wifeinraleigh28!  I ended up calling this morning and they ordered another beta right away.  I'm at 2935 now and feeling so much better.  I also officially hate CBD weeks estimator tests!
