Re: Weekly Appointments 10/2 - 10/8 (pre & post baby!)
How far along are you? 38 weeks today!
How did your appointment go overall? Fine, just couldn't be more fine. Baby is sitting pretty and there's no concerns that would have doctor speeding this process up. *sigh* (sidenote: of course I am happy to be having a healthy pregnancy and baby is doing well - I'm just SO uncomfortable I can't hide the sarcasm!!)
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler - strong and steady heartbeat! About 150.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Other than saying there's nothing I can do about my swollen numb hands or my most recently developed sciatica that makes me walk like my hip is broken, no, no answers.
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!!
Totally random, but I know pretty much all the words to any song by Phil Collins or Genesis - thanks to a mega-fan mama who played him all the time growing up! Perhaps this means my baby will be a huge Madonna fan one day?
How far along are you? 39w6d
How did your appointment go overall? okay. She still couldn't reach my cervix, so no membrane sweep. Got my TDAP. Quick 2 minute US showed that baby is head down. We discussed an induction date of 10/12 if I don't go into labor before that.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Both! HR 138.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I mentioned the back pain that had started last night. She didn't seem concerned, but now I can time it, usually between 3.5-5.5 minutes. I'm not getting much of a break.
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! uhhhm....uhhhhmmm....I can't think of anything right now!
How far along are you?

How did your appointment go overall?
It was fine. Except the room was HOT. I am not sure what was up with the AC, but don't they know pregnant women are sweating anyway?!
Any ultrasound or doppler?
Doppler 140 BPM
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
Yes we discussed potential hurricane evacuation plans. And he also gave me more advice on how sex can hurry labor along. Thanks doc.

Peter Pan is my all-time favorite Disney movie. When I was a kid, I wanted a house just like the Darlings', so my dad built a similar looking dollhouse and my mom painted a map of Neverland. Definitely one of my favorite childhood toys that I hope one of my kids will play with one day too.

How did your appointment go overall?
Good- scheduled my c section and signed consent to get my tubes removed.
Any ultrasound or Doppler?
Doppler
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
We had a very long discussion about whether or not I should vbac with me having 2 c sections already or scheduling one and being able to tie my tubes. It was with a lot a lot of thought me and H decided on a RCS. Which was supposed to be Friday but is now not until the 12th cause the OR's are so booked at our local birthing centres. So I guess I'm bummed about not getting to go natural but I am happy to not have to worry about anymore condoms or birth control for the rest of my life. Also having your tubes removed reduces cancer, so who doesn't want that if possible. I can if I ever got a crazy wild idea use IVF to get pregnant still.

I am a total wake surfing fanatic. When our lake thaws off in the spring even if it is only 4 degree water I am out surfing behind our boat in a dry suit. I love love surfing, it's what we live for in the summers!
35 weeks
How did your appointment go overall?
my ultrasound with MFM was cancelled on Sunday- so I have to go back on Thursday for that.
So I just met with my OB and that went well.
Any ultrasound or doppler?
doppler- she didn't say the number but she said it was perfect.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
yes- I have a lot of concerns about my surgery and recovery. My MRI showed my uterus is extremely thin- so it puts me at risk of needing a blood transfusion and/or losing my uterus. I'm so happy we don't have to stress about baby's health as well as mine- but I am very nervous about this c section.

How did your appointment go overall?
Good, the doctor was busy at the hospital across the street with 2 patients in labor, so I had to wait a while, but I kind of took a nap on the exam table.
I'm strep B negative (yay) but still a little anemic (boo) and baby is measuring big but my bishop score is only 2 (same as last week) and no contractions so he still isn't ready yet.
Any ultrasound or doppler?
Doppler, and his heart sounds great.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
Yes, glad to be able to talk about all my test results, still nervous about this baby measuring big for gestational age. Doc really doesn't want me to go past my due date which I'm pretty much in agreement about.

We got a new car! Traded in the F-150 with engine trouble for a Subaru Outback.
How did your appointment go overall? Went great overall
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler only guess I wont be getting anymore sonos since I'm measuring fine and haven't had any issues
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Dr. answered all my questions.... was just kind of thinking I may go sooner than my RCS but I haven't made any progress so he'll more than likely stay put.
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! hmm.... I love baking and decorating cakes but my carpal tunnel has made that impossible
How did your appointment go overall? There were positive and negative aspects. I had to lay in ways that hurt my back twice. Next week I will see if they will let me lay in different ways maybe so I'm not so uncomfortable. Also, I apparently have a Cervix of Steel - not only is it completely shut like prison gates, I didn't have any spotting or anything after my exam.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler first but then she did a biophysical profile and used the ultrasound. Baby would not move - not even when shaken. Stubborn toot. So she decides to do an NST. While I'm waiting for the NST, of course, baby moves. She also moved enough during that it was cut short - luckily, because after lying for the first ultrasound which killed my back, the weird position the nurse put me in for the NST was just no.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Raised one - she said the fluid was measuring slightly low (7) but then she said that could be because of the baby's positioning. I have another biophysical profile next Monday and exam by a PA (my doctor is out of town the week of my due date, natch) and an appointment with my doctor the day after my due date (next Friday). However, I'm already scheduled for an induction beginning the night of the 16th for a birthday on the 17th should baby continue to be as stubborn as her daddy.
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! This is kind of depressing. My hobby is World of Warcraft but, although I got the collector's edition for the next expansion that came out in August and played through the Demon Hunter starting area, I haven't been able to see any other new content or level my characters because I've been sooo busy with work and baby and exhaustion. So @soinlovecj2011 I feel you on the hobby that can't currently be enjoyed =(

How did your appointment go overall? It went good, baby is head down in position still and I'm 1cm dilated and she said my cervix is shortening. I was just ecstatic to go from closed cervix to 1 cm. She even felt his head right away.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler, didnt ask his heart rate but she said it was perfect.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? With this hurricane coming towards us I asked about that and she said if they do evacuations to go, while our Governor just announced they are evacuating us. I would be 9 months pregnant with a hurricane coming at us lol
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! Umm lets see, I've had a poem published, I guess that's fun!
How did your appointment go overall? My doctor is on vacation so I had to see one of the other practitioners. The doctor seemed really concerned about my measurements and had me do another ultrasound to check fluids. She ended up scheduling me to be induced on Monday, hopefully baby will come before than.
Any ultrasound or doppler?
ultrasound 150
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
I wanted to know if I had advance any and I am 3cm compared to 1 cm last Thursday.

I always wanted to be a flight attendant growing up, but now that I have kids I don't think I could be far away from them for a long time.
How did your appointment go overall? It was good. Doctor was worried that I was measuring a little behind (have been right on every other appt), so they did a quick US. Everything was great, she is still in the 50th percentile, head down, and her fluid levels looked great. Also found out I am about 60% effaced, so I was glad to hear I am at least making some progress.
Any ultrasound or doppler? both, heart rate was around 120, which they said was good.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Didn't really have any questions or concerns this week.
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! My sister and I share the same birthday (not twins), and since my nephews birthday is 8 days after my due date I am secretly hoping that if I am late she is born on his birthday, since I think it would be fun for our kids to also share a birthday!
How did your appointment go overall? It was good. My OB had an emergency C-section so I met with her midwife today. She pulled me from work because of the increase of swelling, which has me a little worried about income but I think my SO and I will be fine. ( I had planned on working at least 1-2 more weeks for an extra bonus check) I also feel like I'm going to be miserable not working because there is nothing else I can think of doing. No change from last week we're still 1cm dilated, 50% effaced. I have another fluid/growth u/s next week and nst, both of which look fine today. Kinzley is still measuring big so I'm praying she comes soon.
Any ultrasound or doppler? both, heart rate was around 160 and Kinzley's fluids are looking great.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? She told me to have this baby if I want my snoring to go away and the swelling to stop. lol I told her i'm on the same page as her, but for some reason Kinzley isn't getting the memo.
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! I can't think of anything.
SO and I have been together: 5 Years+

How did your appointment go overall? Better than expected, EXCEPT my Strep B came back positive. I'm mortified and so upset. BUT my Dr reassured me and said it happens in 40% of women and it doesn't mean I'm dirty or anything, it simply means I'm a carrier. Good times. And all will be just fine with antibiotics and not to worry (still worried). So once my water breaks or I start labor, I'm not to hesitate and just get right to hospital so they can get my IV right away. *sigh* Go figure... I was having a great pregnancy till that.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I've been feeling lots of pressure and cramping since this weekend, so they decided to check my cervix , even though I'm not 38 weeks yet and come to find out, I'm 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated. Fingers crossed that things will keep progressing and my little man shows up sooner rather than later. I just don't want to get too excited. I don't have that kind of luck. Ha.
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! Hmmmm... I was on the Art National Honor Society when I was in high school and I had a drawing of mine hung in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City for a year. Sadly I haven't sketched or drawn in a LONG time. I used to have a really good portfolio, but it was more a hobby than anything. I definitely do miss it.
TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year.

I'm also GBS+. Definitely nothing to feel ashamed about. Our bodies have ~39 trillion bacteria on/in them. (These are everyday normal bacteria, just chilling on our skin, in our digestive system, etc., not the ones that cause sickness). GBS just happens to be one to watch out for, for baby's sake. But very easily treatable with antibiotics, as your doc said.

How did your appointment go overall? Well! Had my GBS test done and honestly I was expecting much worse.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler - heartbeat sounding good!
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? We talked about what to do if I think I'm in labor. Also found out that baby is measuring about a week and a half ahead - whoa. I have one last ultrasound scheduled in two weeks to be sure, but the thought that I might only have a couple weeks before baby has put me into a tailspin! So much left to do!
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! Hmm...I don't know if this is fun, but I rode horses competitively for about ten years of my life when I was in middle/high school. I don't get to ride much anymore but I miss it!
How did your appointment go overall? Good, he's healthy and that's all that matters. I'm feeling super negative today from being in so much pain.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler, heartbeat around 140
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? There's not really anything that can be done for my sciatic nerve pain but I will feel better when he comes out.
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! I have a brother that is 24 years younger than me. He's one of my favorite people in the world!
How did your appointment go overall? good, all is well and no signs of an early labor. I still think she'll be early though
Any ultrasound or doppler? NST today because I hadn't felt any movement this morning but she's fine, just sleepy. Not a single contraction
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? yup, my angry hemroids are normal and not going to get better any time soon. Ouch
For Fun: I'm plain tapped out of clever questions... Share something fun about yourself!! I have a BFA in theater, stage management, and I worked off Broadway for 10 years before we started our family. I miss it but it's just not a family friendly life style.

How did your appointment go overall?
Good. Fast. Cervical Check (nothing at all really happening). Flu shot. Doctor's note to not work anymore
Any ultrasound or doppler?
doppler. Heart-rate sounded good.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
Apparently my breast pump has been authorized, but I don't know what kind it is. The dr said they take care of that when I'm actually in the hospital? Hoping this doesn't fall through the cracks and is something that I have to stress about after I take the baby home.
I'll start NSTs next week at 39+6.

I used to be a scientist, and I made and worked with mutant fish with fluorescent blood that you could see circulating. I never realized this was perhaps interesting to people until my husband was bragging on me.
