  • We made casual plans with friends for tonight and I checked with them yesterday and the wife goes well husbands dad is coming in and now I have to ask him I was like no no we will just reschedule. Honestly I am doing my happy dance. No inclination to go out to a friends house and be out super late with DS DH and then no matter what DS will still wake up around 7.

I don't think this is too bad but I have been drinking more diet coke then I should be. I have been letting myself have 1 can on Saturdays but today my stomach was so upset that I got a 20oz. I feel really bad for drinking it but my stomach does feel better.
  • I've all of a sudden become terrified about having this baby.  I'm scared I'm going to be a terrible mother to two since I feel like sometimes I'm terrible at being a mother of one (we had a rough day yesterday lol).  Even though me and my husband fully believe in family raising our kids, I'm sort of considering going back to work full-time and sending both to daycare so I can't screw them up too badly!
  • @renee6465 a friend told me there is a thing called a "mouse jiggler" that will keep your computer looking active. He's pretty lazy and swears by it.

@wombthereitis I am going to have to look into this... sounds like he knows what he's talking about. Thanks!

ETA: I just looked it up and it is an actual USB that you purchase for approximately $20. I don't think I am that committed.

  • @renee6465 what instant messenger service do you use? If it's skype for business, I gotchu. ;)
  • @renee6465 I learned a trick from a coworker - open up a Note window, then place something heavy (like a stapler) on top of your \ key... Your computer won't lock and you will end up with a Note full of a million \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s after a few hours lol. I'm not sure if this works for a full day as I've only tried it for a couple of hours at a time, but you would just need to check on your computer every few hours and readjust as necessary. :)
  • I plan on going on a trip next year when the baby will be like 5 or 6 months and leaving my mom with it. I had to use my airmiles before they expire and I have so many that I could go to Japan or South America. I didn't want to waste them.

Also, I'm happy to be starting a family but I am actually terrified of babies. I'm afraid of even simply holding them. I keep hoping I will grow out of this fear. I'm 29 in a couple months but I still feel so young.

  • @renee6465 if you don't care about leaving it unlocked just go to settings and tell it to not go to sleep if you're not active. And there's a Skype setting about setting  "away" if there's no action for x period of time, so you could change that too. The only caveat is if he messages you and you don't respond he'll know. Lol.
  • @CamiSelene I totally feel you on the terrified of babies front and I'm 32.
  • I let DD watch a good hour of YouTube videos this afternoon while I rested next to her on the couch. I am so freakin tired today...

You can program one ... or download one someone else wrote. We did it at Geek squad to keep our computers logged in to our chat

  • My friends are heavy drinkers and I've been avoiding them all week because as soon as they notice im not drinking they WILL know. However I am running out of lies to tell them lol.

I took a few of those zinc tablets to try to stave off getting DH's disease without checking if it's safe for pregnancy. Still haven't checked.

We are trying to get babysitters to come in to help us this weekend and on some weekday nights (but to be fair, DH will be gone most weekday nights this week). I always feel weird having a sitter when I'm not actually leaving the house, but if I feel like crap and/or I have a ton of work to do, it's justified, right? I also feel bad for my kids.

  • @kat81 +1 for preferring to be a working mom. DD has been in daycare since 4 months olds and I've always worked FT. I love the structure/learning she gets at a center and I love my job. It's pretty flexible, which I think is part of the reason it's works so well. That's not easy to find in the legal profession. I always say that I look forward to going to work each day and I look forward to going home to my kid each night.

  • You all are genius @blueskies17 @contrarationem @allowachick. I seriously would have never thought of any of theses and Google was not very helpful. I should have asked here earlier in the day! @cheryle418 it is Skype for business.

  • @jessbruxanovaa I had the same concern when I was pregnant with my first.  A couple of things you can try: if you're out with people at a bar or restaurant, try ordering at the bar and order something that looks like an alcoholic drink but isn't - I would get soda water with a splash of cranberry.  Alternatively, if you're with your partner, you can order the same drink and he can drink both (you hold your drink and pretend to drink it and then after a few minutes you switch and he drinks from the other one).  This works best at house parties but can work at bars or even restaurants.  It was the most effective for us, although your partner needs to be careful as he will be drinking double.  One thing I will also say is that this time around (second pregnancy) no one has said a word to me and I've been in a few situations where I wasn't drinking and there was no way to hide it.  I think a) a lot of people don't pay that close attention to other people's drinking, at least not as much as our paranoid pregnant selves think they do and b) plenty of people realize that if someone isn't announcing their pregnancy, there's a reason for it.  I have been impressed with my friends this time around as I think at least a few of them suspect but haven't said a word.

@kat81 I don't think there's anything wrong with getting some extra help when you need it.  I've considered that as well this trimester.

My prenatal has zinc in it. Probably safe? Idk in what quantity though
