I know I'm not the only one who wants to know. When were you given the ok to have intercourse again? My RE originally said after I see the heartbeat but I totally forgot to ask when I had my u/s last week.
This really depends on your own experience. Our doc gave us the okay after about week 8 or so. At week 20 we had an issue and are now celibate again, probably until after baby comes. It's going to be a loong 18 more weeks. But I'll do anything for this baby! Before you wing it, I would call your doctor's office and ask.

I was also told after the heartbeat I think . But I ended up having two subchorionic hematomas so I was told not to until my bleeding had resolved for a few days . I'm honestly still afraid to because I don't want to bleed !

We were give the ok after our 7 week apt. I'm on crinone and my re told us there's a chance of bleeding after and if that happens to stop so we're not taking the chance until I'm off the crinone at the end of the first trimester.
I was never told to not have intercourse. Only like a day or two after putting the embryo back, but that was it. They told me to live life like I normally would. So definitely check with your doctors as they all say something different, and go with what you feel comfortable with.
After FET our instructions were to abstain for about 5 days, I think we had intercourse once after that, then I was worried because I saw that a lot of other women were told to wait much longer, and also DH was sort of scared. Right after we heard the heartbeat at week 6 I had bleeding due to a SCH and was put on pelvic rest. The SCH was gone at week 10 but we forgot to ask and I also started feeling horrible with nausea or exhausted almost every night. My following appointment was week 15 and we were officially cleared but sadly haven't gotten to it. I honestly never thought we would go so long without doing it because 1. I always felt that we should continue our normal activities and 2. I never imagined I would feel so crappy, but here we are, we would do anything to make sure our baby is ok but not going to lie, it's difficult!

We were told a few weeks after transfer, so we waited until week 6. Then I had spotting, most likely as a result of irritation from progesterone suppositories, so my RE said to wait until he gave us the OK. Then we got the ok from RE and OB once I got discharged, but then had another case of bleeding at week 15. I'm honestly terrified to bleed again, so I keep holding off still. Since my placenta is low right now anything can cause bleeding, including intercourse, so I'm trying to refrain from having another panic attack.

HA! I just posted about this in the Random posts for this week. So, let me get this straight. Some of you are choosing not to have SEX until after the first trimester or at a certain week gestation BUT are you still doing other stuff? I mean, what is it about sex that is the concern here? Is it the trusting or the penis or orgasiming..I guess im confused. I mean, I would really love to get freaky but if it's going to compromise things then NO WAY.
Different doctors have different opinions @frustrated and ttc I only got a 'no-go' a few days after egg transfer due to risk of infection. After that I was allowed to get freaky again, as they didn't consider me high risk and treated my pregnancy as if I got pregnant naturally. You could have some bleeding due to sex, as blood flow has increased, progesterone may have soften tissue, which causes bleeding, and as the uterus grows orgasm might be uncomfortable (and due to extra blood and sensitive come fast and hard!) My libido was very low first trimester as I was in and out of the hospital. My second trimester it got back, but I was very concerned about my body that changed, the different feeling of it all, and now in my third I have a very exhausted bf...
Was told not to have sex 48 hours before or after transfer, but that's all the restrictions we had. Had sex before and right after our BFP and all good over here! DH wears protection bc of the zika fear (we live in TX, so ya never know). I've heard no concrete evidence as to why we shouldn't have sex, so we are continuing to live our lives normally. Of course everyone's situation is different - I would see what doc says and question if she says no or gives you a wait until date (doctors LOVE me lol).

Thank you all for your responses. I should have updated you all. My RE said sex is ok as long as my spotting has stopped which it has but we still havent had sex. I'm having another u/s tomorrow because she wants to see me before I leave on vacation so I'll ask again just to reconfirm.
@Steff_99 I understand your hesitation. I too feel a tiny bit concerned about having sex, though I haven't had any bleeding in over a month. At this point, I'm most worried if it's going to hurt because it's been so long since we've done it! Hopefully you guys will be able to relax and have fun on vacation and lots of wonderful sex!

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread as I was lurking around this forum because I have really been wondering about this! I am SO paranoid about messing anything up, but all my RE said was "nothing in your vagina for 5 days after transfer." That's it, that's all the instruction I was given. I am way too scared to have sex right now, especially since we only JUST got our BFP. I'm worried about when it will be okay because I do want to live my life normally... I guess I'll ask my RE when I see him at our 7 week ultrasound.

@wifeinraleigh28 I will say this: both time we've gotten bfps, we went ahead and DTD, even though we were told to wait until after the first ultrasound. DH and I have a hard time NOT having sex, so waiting like 3 weeks was not really a thing for us. We were careful, and I was on top to I could control everything, in case something started to hurt or feel weird. We were fine, babies were fine, babies are still fine. We sort of looked at it like this: if we were a normal, fertile couple, we'd definitely be having sex during the TWW, and after getting a BFP, so if we're careful now, it should all be fine. Trust what your guy says.

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!
@AandDM2014 You're right, regular fertile couples have sex all the time and often don't even find out they are pregnant until way after we do. But we also have a lot more to lose... with all the money we spend and the treatments we go through. I will just follow my RE's instructions with whatever he says. I'm sure it will be fine, and I just need to relax! Which is what I keep telling myself through everything... such a worry wart!

I'm so glad to see this conversation. I don't remember that being part of our instructions but then I was SOOOO not in the mood anyway--I had a rough ER and at my 7-week ultrasound my ovaries were STILL inflamed and angry. I did get the formal ok at my 7 week ultrasound though.
I am chiming in late. But we were told no intercourse until we got the good to go at my first ultrasound at 7 weeks. I think this is because I did a fresh transfer and my ovaries are still big.
