Fit mommas!

Hi ladies,

I am not sure if any others moms need support regarding fitness during pregnancy. I feel like there is still a lot of bad information out there regarding fitness in pregnancy! I worked out doing Crossfit, running and hot yoga throughout my last pregnancy and feel it was so important for me during delivery and helped me get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Delivering a baby is one of the most physically challenging experiences of your life so being in the best shape possible is so helpful!

How are other moms staying fit during pregnancy? I am still doing Crossfit and yoga. I don't run as much now but I take my son on long walks in his stroller a few times a week!

One of my best friends stopped working out early in her last pregnancy and then was unable to pick it back up during the rest of her pregnancy. She gained more weight than she wanted and is still struggling almost a year post partum. She always says she wishes she pushed herself more to stay fit during pregnancy so that she didn't struggle so much afterwards.

I would love to hear about your fitness goals during your pregnancy so we can all motivate and support each other!

I aim to do Zumba three times a week.  I've toned the intensity down because when I asked about exercising when I called for my initial appointment the nurse advised again having my heart rate above 140 and not to do any ab work.  I usually shook my booty and made it pop pretty hard.  I don't anymore.
I have been exhausted and paired with work starting up again, motivation to get to gym during work week is hard.

I have always wanted to try Zumba @SP128! I won't start anything new during pregnancy but maybe I can give it a try afterwards!

I I know it's hard to find the motivation with the fatigue! I go at 6 AM during the week because I feel the best in the morning!

We are doing a weekly check-in on Thursdays for excercise/nutrition to help motivate each other!

I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow and have still been running! I also LOVE the rowing machine at the gym so I'm going to have to find a way to modify that once my belly is larger! I've cut back on my ab excerices but still do some side and back core excercises.

Theres a weekly fitness check-in, you can probably find it if you scroll down! Its a great way to hold each other accountable especially through the nausea and fatigue. =)

The weekly check in is on Thursdays so this week's is only a few days old, if you still want to participate in it for the week.

Hi there!  I am new to this May 2017 group

I am 6 weeks 2 days  and this is my first BFP! I am currently running about twice a week (usually intervals of running/walking for 30 minutes...ends up being just over 2 miles), and doing Cardio Barre once a week.  Ideally I'd like to sneak a yoga class in somewhere, but my SO and I cook meals from scratch almost every weeknight and it's hard because either A) I go to class first, we eat late and then cleanup digs into evening wind down time (no dishwasher), or B ) We eat first, I have to wait like 30-60 minutes to digest enough to feel ready for a run, but by then it's dark out and though our neighborhood is pretty safe, I prefer running with a little light outside!  Luckily when we found out I was already on a solid workout track after a couple years of being too sedentary due to an old Achilles injury so I'm trying to just keep it up and listen to my body (I'm not an extremist).  My main problem is I'm so tired all the time I feel tranquilized on my runs!!

Hi ladies, I try to run (treadmill, much safer) twice a week and then yoga once to twice too. My yoga teacher knows I'm pregnant. The problem I see coming is sports bra! I hardly fit mines! Any advice/idea about pregnancy sports bra?

Hi @auro_c during my last pregnancy I wore a few lululemon sports bra called Free to be Wild and it has criss cross bands across the back so it stretched during the pregnacy! I plan on wearing them this time too!

I've really not been good in this arena lately. I started dancing (hula & Tahitian) when I was 7 yo and continued professionally & competitively until I went off to college. Since then it's been sporadic because of moving to different cities and starting my career (RN on night shift for MANY years). During my first pregnancy, I walked and did squats and lunges and such (no more gym). After delivering, LO and I would go on 2-3 mile walks about 4 times a day. That brought me back to pre-pregnancy weight. Now... Ugh a sporadic walk maybe once a week.

My goal: continue walking with LO at least 4 times a week followed by squats and lunges and start dancing again!

    Thanks for the motivation ladies!

@lnds32  Zumba is super fun.  I enjoy it when the instructor does more top 40 stuff or something funky!  You should def try it.  If you don't like it the first time, give it a shot with another instructor.  They make a world of a difference in your experience.  PS  Just about every looks awkward and out of place the first few times.

I love my Zumba class!  Unfortunately my instructors DS is in the hospital with major complications so class has been cancelled indefinitely :(
I started with her 2 years ago so I know all the moves and a lot of the songs we use but I just don't have the motivation to get up and dance around by myself -.-
I bought a stationary bike a couple years ago so I just resolved to start using it again.
My goal is 30 mins 5 times a week and hopefully that'll be adequate exercise.
Anyone have a fitbit??  I used to do 10k steps a day for a goal but I lost my dang charger -.-
