My nails are bare. I paint them mostly for special occasions, and get them done professionally before I go on vacation. I have to "wash in, wash out" at work and the constant barrage of hand sanitizer and soap isn't very friendly to nail polish- I'd have to paint my nails every other day and I just can't be bothered to keep them up lol. Maybe after I move into a post graduate administrative role. When I do paint them, Oxblood is my favorite color, but when I have them done I always go for the French manicure.

R/R: *Dear Diary Post Ahead* I didn't post here on CD1 yesterday because yesterday was my hardest TTC day so far. I had another 8-day luteal phase and felt like a complete failure. Four full cycles and not a single one did I have a sufficient luteal phase. My husband and I really loved the idea of having a summer 2016 baby, because he will finish grad school in May and not start his job until August. What a perfect time to have an infant! But once again, no luck. We now have only one cycle left before we'll have to TTA for at least two cycles given his job start date and our move to another state. It feels so profoundly sad. We both spent yesterday emotionally drained. I took my PNVs with vodka.
I have only been here for four cycles, which is so much less time than many of you. The emotional fortitude that you ladies have is inspiring to me. The support you are able to provide to me and others while going through something so draining -- I am so grateful and so amazed. Thank you
If you made it through my word vomit, you are a kind bunny
CS/Q:
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done? Purple! I always do them myself. Only my toes -- I cook too much to sustain fingernail polish for more than two days at a time.
@lulu1180 I haven't seen research on honey, though there are a number of random "natural health" websites that recommend it for fertility. At least it doesn't seem to hurt! And I imagine it's a healthier option than refined sugar since it has less blood sugar impact. Honey is also believed to be an aphrodisiac in some cultures so... could help with FW
WAYDTGKU: pnvs, temping, going to try opks for the first time this month.
R/R: Ditto @lulu1180 except I did temp and now I'm mad at a .3 spike ruining my just started chart.
CS/Q: when do you start trying opks? 5 days past AF?
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done? They're completely bare. Pedicures for vacation (slave to fashion for the color)
WAYDTGKU: Charting, OPKs, prenatal gummies, seeing an endo next week to check on my subclinical hypothyroid, and waiting on the results of DH's SA
R/R: Was "supposed" to have CD1 two days ago - starting today puts FW/O in the middle of a work trip this month.
CS/Q: Nothing on it ATM! I don't worry about temping during AF
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done? Right now they are bare, but I'm planning to do my own gel today so they are fresh for a work trip/3 days of meetings. Normal nail polish doesn't even last 24 hours on me. I just bought a new gel called "merlot magic." My toenails are navy.

GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done? Natural currently. If they are done I do them myself and if I'm on vacation j get them done in French manicure gel so they last the whole trip.
R/R: Never confirmed O. Couldn't turn an opk, no EWCM and temping fell apart. Going to HIO today then move over to TWW tomorrow. Annoyed but still hopeful.
CS/Q: none, wishing I temped
GTKY: Purplish grey, I get them done professionally every 2 weeks or so. It's a bad habit but makes me feel put together when other things aren't, like bad hair or no makeup day.
@lulu1180 I hate setting my alarm on the weekend so I get nervous that I won't temp on time. "Thankfully" my dog's internal alarm prompts her to get up and lick my face at 5:15 every morning. I temped and fell back to sleep.
WAYDTGKU: pnv, temping, clomid (last dose last night), HIO and will start OPK's this week.
R/R: I'm really enjoying this relaxing fall weekend. We have been somewhat productive but really just spending a lot of time chillin'.

@GlitterFish I usually have a 26-28 day cycle, so based on my cycle history FF is guessing I already ovulated, but that is just based on cycle length. I guess I could stay, I'm not sure what to do! If you can't confirm O do you just stay and stay, even if it's until AF?
@CrystalPDX I ageee with @GlitterFish I wouldn't move without some kind of confirmation that you did indeed O. Otherwise, you will most likely get frustrated hanging out in the TWW for an extended time without turning a test. Most of the ladies here will be happy to do a CS if you would like some insight

GTKY: Fingernails are natural. I rarely paint them. Home paint chips off so fast and I'm usually too cheap to have them done. However I will get gel polish for vacation as a treat. Toenails are hot pink, are pretty much always painted, and I do them myself.
@adirat I would go ahead and call up your doctor on Monday. There may be something relatively simple they could do for these next two cycles. Especially if you have evidence that something isn't quite right, they don't make you try for the certain number of months before they'll look into it. Give it a shot, okay? And I hope you're mixing that vodka with delicious things!
@lulu1180 Yay for all that sleep, though! Next time, I would go ahead and temp and put whatever it is into FF. If it's way out of line, tell FF to discard it. Then you still have the data point saved but FF doesn't take it into consideration.

R/R: DH has 3 sisters. Two have bought houses in the last year. Another is renovating and her youngest is 9, so she has been giving away kid stuff. She asked sister 2 if she wanted a crib for her one year old. She said no because it's used and her in-laws would buy a new one, plus her 3 year old should be out of his when they move to the new house and they could use that if they don't get a new one. Then we were asked and DH said yes. Somehow MIL decides she wants it at her house for when the kids visit. Sister 2 said she doesn't plan on them staying over again since they have a new house and the kids go to daycare (they used to all stay once a week so MIL could babysit when SIL went to work). She still wants it even though everyone, including FIL, thinks it's dumb and will just be filling an empty room since SIL 3 moved out and bought a house. I'm betting it will come back to us, unused at her house...but it's an awkward situation.
CS/Q: Nope. I just hate when FF has an error and doesn't save temps, but you don't know until it's too late. Luckily I looked at the graph after inputting, so I remembered it hours later.
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done?
Right now I've got a gel French manicure that was professionally done... at least 3 weeks ago and it looks pretty bad now. I got them done for my wedding and then kept it up for another monthish. They have grown a lot since I'm taking PNV and hair, skin, and nails vitamins. I have trimmed them, but I need to get a stronger polish remover with more acetone in it since what I tried didn't work. I usually don't put anything on since I don't have time and they get wrecked in school. My toes are bright pink.
@adirat Chin up, lady! We are rooting for you! Has the doc put you on progesterone? That's a conversation worth having. @maebee87 Love the gif! @CrystalPDX The earliest I've ovulated since tracking was CD 19. You can start temping at any point in your cycle. Start tomorrow and you may be able to catch a shift along with OPKs and CM. @Kiki75 Well I know what friend I'd be spending more time with! That stinks.

My toenails are almost always hot pink and I usually get a pedicure once a month or so. My fingernails are almost always natural because nothing withstands my job. Not even gel color or jamberry wraps so it's not worth it to try.
@NYTino24@lulu1180@GlitterFish Thank you for the feedback. I'll temp the next few days and see what happens, and continue to hang out here. Still learning, clearly!

GTKY: This is probably going to make me sound fanatical after my question about food the other day, but I only do my nails at home because I'm afraid of the chemicals in nail polish and removers, which means I can never get them done professionally unless I bring my own polish (which is pointless because I'd be sitting there breathing in all the crap I'm trying to avoid). So I use a special brand that has an all organic remover and the polish isn't 100% organic but doesn't have a lot of the "bad" chemicals in it. This isn't something I started doing just for TTC --started getting concerned about chemicals in cosmetics and buying organic alternatives a few years ago. And I am kind of fanatical. Matching dark purple on nails and toes currently.
theweevee I don't know which you are using, but I use the CBA OPK and it has a chart in the package showing you when to start testing based the length of the shortest of your last few cycles. For me that meant CD 10 because I have longish cycles. But that OPK needs to get a "baseline" for you since it's digital, so if you're going Wondfo you could probably start later (though it is super cheap if you want to start earlier just for kicks).
@adirat, I'm so sorry that you're back in the WTO. It must be tough when you know you have to TTA soon. Hugs to you. I have everything crossed for you this coming cycle. Also I agree with others that if you think something might be wrong with your LP, worth mentioning to your doc. @lulu1180, I've never heard of honey making a difference either way. @adirat so sorry to hear that. Really rooting for you this cycle!!!
@lulu1180 I hear your frustration! You can still get solid CHs though make sure you're also documenting secondary signs!
@glitterfish hoping you're FW comes quicker or after your trip!
@CrystalPDX I would still note secondary signs, maybe this would also be a good time to get into the habit of temping even if it can't confirm O but it's still early in your cycle so ya never know!
@delujm0 I always try putting in temps ahead too to see when FF might be giving CHs if I know O is close!
I actually had my annual on Wednesday and told my gynecologist about my short luteal phases/low progesterone and my terrible ovulation pain. She agreed to get started on a fertility workup without waiting a full 6-12 months because of my likely endometriosis-related pain -- she said she wouldn't want me to develop scarring while waiting. I have a prescription for CD3 bloodwork and she told me to schedule an ultrasound to look for endometriomas on my ovaries around CD10. During our TTA time period, she suggested having an HSG. She also wrote a referral for my husband to get an SA. I feel good knowing I have a plan, at least. (She actually suggested having the HSG in the last cycle before we start trying again since some women with "partial" blockages have good luck getting KU the cycle after HSG. Wouldn't that be the life!)
Regarding progesterone, she told me that if I get a BFP, she would prescribe me a progesterone supplement, but that without a BFP, she thinks it isn't worth taking progesterone given the side effects until I know my uterus is healthy (ultrasound) and tubes are clear (HSG). What do you ladies think? I know some of you have done progesterone supplements. She described the side effects as "PMS on steroids for two full weeks" which does not sound appealing.
@adirat, so sorry you're back here. I know you haven't been "trying" for a year, but could you go and talk to your dr about the short LP? Hugs, friend! @Kiki75, Sorry your friend isn't really being there for you. I hope she realizes soon that friendship goes both ways and that she needs to start listening to your feelings too.

@theweevee if you don't know much about your cycle I believe the recommendation is CD 10, but the package should include instructions based on cycle length if you are pretty regular. @adirat I'm so sorry to see you here. I think with what you have learned about your LP, it's totally understandable how you feel even though it's "only" been four cycles. I hear you on that summer '17 baby - H is a teacher and man what perfect timing that would have been. But if it doesn't work out for us to get those summer babies, we are all here to support you and get you through this crappy process. I hope you are able to talk to your doctor and get some tangible steps to take to increase your LP and get you that baby!
ETA - duh you posted about talking to your doc (I'm on mobile, so that's my excuse!) I don't have experience with that, so I hope someone can chime in, but I'm really glad to hear you have a doctor who is willing to take you seriously. It seems like that's not always the case!
@adirat I'm sorry you're having a rough time. All the creepy internet hugs to you. @BertieMeetsGertie Ugh. Jean shopping is the WORST. R/R: It seems like my usual signs of O started to appear yesterday so I'm hopeful that it means O is imminent and just later than usual. What's really interesting (to me) is that my temp pattern is lining up to be identical to what the previous week's looked like before my originally anticipated O. Maybe work stress really did delay it and it's gearing up to have another go? Time will tell I suppose. On the other hand, our town had its annual pirate pub crawl last night. Basically all the adults dress up as pirates, are given a "map" where they have to get a stamp from all these specific bars to enter into a prize drawing, and get wasted along the way. I got to put eyeliner on DH and he looked like my own personal Hook. I wanted to jump him when he got home but he was a little too intoxicated for much.
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done? I never have my nails done. The few times I have, my little sister asks me of she can and it's usually a green color since it's my favorite.

@adirat I am so, so sorry for your rough ttc cycle. I totally understand how you feel . I feel like such a complete and utter failure right now. You would think that scheduling OB and RE appointments would help me feel better....nope, I feel worse. And, we have to TTA next cycle so that is also fun. Sooooooo many hugs sent your way. K
I will come back to comment later, but am at a football game now!
@adirat Sending hopefully-not-creepy Internet hugs your way, girl. Yesterday was CD1 for me, too, and I spent almost the entire day in bed crying. Some days are hard. I know exactly what it's like to imagine having a baby at a particular time and then having to let go of that -- we wanted a Summer 2016 baby, this time last year, and here we are a year later hoping for any baby at all, any time. But letting go of hopes for specific timing is just sooooooo hard and some days it's totally OK to just shake your fists at the universe. I hope you're able to get some answers soon about your short LP, and that today is easier than yesterday!

Really hard to make myself do those things when all I can think about is having a baby, because I want the backup plan to be pointless. Pursuing a PhD when you're not really committed to the idea? GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done? I almost never paint my nails because it lasts all of 30seconds before it gets chipped. I do however paint my toenails. they were purple but yesterday I switched them to a champagne color. @adirat creepy internet hugs. It is so hard when your dream for the future doesn't pan out. I think we all daydream about the perfect time to get pregnant and have that little. I'll be cheering myself up today with some comfort food (linguine with clams) and football. At least it's a weekend for this to happen!
@zwink1 I'm sorry you also have to TTA next cycle. It's adding insult to injury! Sigh.
@BaileyM321 How time-sensitive is your PhD program entry? Can you wait it out while you consider and potentially do IUIs? (My husband is finishing his PhD and I plan to get mine after we have kids so I feel you hard.)
+1 to all of you complaining about the skinny jean trend! I have wide hips so skinny jeans make me look like a cartoon character, not to mention how uncomfortable they are. My only tip is to look for jeans at thrift stores -- I think I've bought all my jeans (and some of my work pants) at Goodwill since skinny jeans took over Kohl's. Take advantage of others following the trend! Saves $$$ too.
@BaileyM321, best of luck making your decision! When I went to get my masters, it was to get the right experience to apply for a PhD program. I graduated 5 years ago and just don't have it in me to pursue a PhD. My heart isn't in it right now. @adirat, loving your comfort food idea!! @wabash15, a million times YES for French toenails! It just looks like your toenails are way too long. Yuck!

R/R: temp was high enough to be around my normal cover line. I tend to raise up like a hill then have a sharp drop right before O. Not much else going on!
I'm at work. And it was ridiculously busy this morning. It calmed down, so knock on wood.
CS/Q: nope
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done?
Mine have a clear coat on right now. I actually have been getting them done professionally when I DO get them done. @GeorgiaWife6912 there's a new indestructible (it seems!) polish called dipping powder. It's fabulous, and is nicer to your nails than the gel. I had mine on for 4 weeks untouched before they grew out so much I had to have them removed. Removal is done by the salon though; I don't think there's a way to do it at home.
I normally get coral all the time during the warm months. Winter I go more red.

R/R: Ugh, all rants. We went away for the night for a wedding last night and when we got home, I realized that, in a moment of FULL IDIOCY, I'd left the groceries I bought the day before in the trunk for 24 hours, which meant the meats and cheeses were all, obviously, spoiled. Also, just having a hard TTC day - feeling just so bummed about the whole thing. Since my loss, it's been hard to stop thinking about how far along I "should" be and how I'm not even KU right now.
CS/Q: None today!
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done? Right now, my fingernails are natural and my toes are oxblood. I have AWFUL hand-eye coordination, so I always get them done, but I only have them painted about half the time.

CS/Q: Does anyone know if honey is good or bad for TTC? I tried googling this and couldn't really find anything either way

R/R: *Dear Diary Post Ahead*
I didn't post here on CD1 yesterday because yesterday was my hardest TTC day so far.

Right now they are bare, but I'm planning to do my own gel today so they are fresh for a work trip/3 days of meetings. Normal nail polish doesn't even last 24 hours on me. I just bought a new gel called "merlot magic." My toenails are navy.

I did tell her I didn't want to miss out on stuff about her pregnancy, I thought that engaging with me and my life was still a given. It's all about her (and her pregnancy) all the time and about 2 seconds for how I am. But only the easy happy stuff. If I get serious, she shuts it down. In some ways she's a good friend but in others, not so much. My other pregnant friend is a total 180. We talk about everything about her life, AND mine, including the heavy stuff.

@maebee87 Love the gif!
@CrystalPDX The earliest I've ovulated since tracking was CD 19. You can start temping at any point in your cycle. Start tomorrow and you may be able to catch a shift along with OPKs and CM.

Edited for typo
@lulu1180, I've never heard of honey making a difference either way. I haven't researched it though.

Thank you again!

@theweevee if you don't know much about your cycle I believe the recommendation is CD 10, but the package should include instructions based on cycle length if you are pretty regular.

Edit: forgot to add chart link
CD: 5
WAYDTGKU: pnvs, temping, rrl tea.
R/R: none today
CS/Q: Nope.
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done?
They're bare. I rarely paint them, and when I do I do them myself. The last time I had a professional do them was my wedding.
CD: 11
WAYDTGKU: I am going to try mucinex this month. I still getting over my cold, so I have to take it anyways.
R/R: Just finished two 14 hour work days.
CS/Q: None
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done?
Toes are purple.
Nothing on hands.
I paint them my self.
Month/Cycle: 13/12
CD: 2
WAYDTGKU: OPKs, and trying to make a decision about whether we're ready for Femara + IUI. I guess calling the RE on Monday to make an appointment to go talk, again.
Rant: I have a million things I need to be doing to get into a Ph.D. program, which is my 'if I can't have another baby' backup plan. Really hard to make myself do those things when all I can think about is having a baby, because I want the backup plan to be pointless. Pursuing a PhD when you're not really committed to the idea? WORST. IDEA. EVER.
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done? My nails are sad and bare, because I'm lazy. (And I work in the computer field so there's a low low bar for being traditionally feminine...)

WAYDTGKU: on to all things!
R/R: not much at the moment.
CS/Q: not yet
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done?
I almost never paint my nails because it lasts all of 30seconds before it gets chipped. I do however paint my toenails. they were purple but yesterday I switched them to a champagne color. I cant stand a french manicure on toes, i think it just looks like you need to cut your toenails , end rant
@adirat creepy internet hugs. It is so hard when your dream for the future doesn't pan out. I think we all daydream about the perfect time to get pregnant and have that little. If it doesn't happen it is heart breaking, all the more so when you know your going to have to take a break and put that dream off even longer. I am so sorry for CD1. Its great to hear that your doc is taking your concerns seriously and that you have a plan while your TTA. try to be good to yourself.
@glitterfish welcome and sorry for CD1
@maebee87 hoora@maebee87
@kiki75 i'm sorry you have one friend who cant step outside of herself to support you during this challenging time, but I'm glad you have another friend who is there for the good and bad.
@nytino24 that is an awkward situation with the crib. hopefully it will all work out in the wash
@bertiemeetsgertie I feel your pain trying to find work cloths. I need stuff that looks professional but that can stand up to wear&tear and dirt. Skinny styles just dont cut it. I hope you have better luck today.
@sirius37 hooray for impending O. That pub crawl sounds like fun

@kiki75, sorry for your loss! Hope brunch goes well, its not easy to spend a lot of time with "friends" who only want to hear the good stuff. I'm glad you have some who can handle the tough stuff too
@GeorgiaWife6912 I hope O comes soon!!
Month/Cycle: 3/4

WAYDTGKU: in general, the usual suspects. today, nothing
R/R:
CS/Q: I didn't bother setting my temp alarm last night because I drank and now I'm glad I didn't since it's CD 1. I prob won't start temping for a few days
GTKY: What color are your nails? Do you paint them yourself or get them professionally done? My nails are currently naked... I usually do my fingernails myself with the exception of special occasions (like my wedding) and I go through phases where I either do them weekly or not at all for a while. Previously I was using seche vite top coat but considering it has toluene, I'd like to try something else. Anyone have a good fast-drying top coat they wanna recommend?
Edited to fix some stuff

Thank you all so much. I'm overwhelmed with how supportive this community is. You are all wonderful. And I have also realized how lucky I am to have a doctor who takes me seriously! It's appalling that this would be uncommon.
@manillabar So sorry for CD1
@adirat, loving your comfort food idea!!
@wabash15, a million times YES for French toenails! It just looks like your toenails are way too long. Yuck!

WAYDTGKU: temping, opks, cm, extra methyl-folate

@Kiki75 Ugh, sorry to hear your friend is being so one-sided.
@BertieMeetsGertie Have you tried the curvy cut at Old Navy? I find the fit pretty solid.
@BaileyM321 Ooh, what are you applying for a PhD in?

WAYDTGKU: HIO at least EOD, ClearBlue Fertility Monitor, PNVs, off coffee, RRL tea when I remember

@BertieMeetsGertie Clams are also high in iron per ounce so they're a good period food. Yum.
