Re: ***2nd Trimester Check-in, Week of September 19th***

  • Good morning beautiful ladies! No appointments for another 2 weeks here. I'm feeling more movement now, which makes is easier to last between the u/s and check-ups.

QOTW - my favorite vacation spot has been Italy, for many reasons. It was my first European vacation with my husband. I loved the food, the architecture, the sights, everything! I still dream of fresh italian pasta, their delicious gelato and getting lost in the little streets of Venice.

  • Happy Monday! Already shared this on the random board, but I had a little scare this weekend, fell down my friends stairs and my OB recommended I go to the ER. Spent 6 hours there but baby boy is great! No appointments until next week when we have the anatomy scan. We already know he is a boy, but it will be great to "see" him :). I felt my first kicks this week too, I think it was movement at least. Feels like butterfly flutters.

QOTW: @tulips29 I love Italy! Studied abroad there for a month and it was amazing. I definitely want to go back with my hubs this time! I'd say my favorite vacation Hawaii... so beautiful and I love anywhere with water/beach. I have been to Maui, Oahu and Kauai and we are going back to Kauai for our babymoon next month- can't wait!

Me: 28, DH: 30 Married July 2014  DX: Severe MFI- 3 failed IUI's, IVF #1 Egg retrieval June 4th 2016, 5 day transfer- BFP Baby Boy! EDD 2/25/2017. Our sweet miracle Carter Bennett arrived 2/12/2017 6 lbs, 2 oz 19 inches. <3 Surprise BFP!!! Baby Girl due 10/1/2018.

  • @chicandbubbly glad you and the baby are doing ok after that scare. 6 hours in the ER is not a fun way to spend your weekend, but at least your got reassurance that your baby wasn't hurt. Yay for the anatomy scan and the first kicks! Hawaii was at the top of my list too, probably super close right behind Italy. We went there on our honeymoon and I'd love to be back. So jealous of your babymoon there! I wish it wasn't such a long trip from NY for us.

  • @chicandbubbly - so glad you and baby are ok. We live on the 2nd floor and every time I walk down the stairs I worry about falling!

I have my regular check up today. I don't think it will be too eventful since we aren't set for another ultrasound for several weeks. I can feel baby moving around a ton today. I can actually see my belly move when he kicks which is pretty cool and weird at the same time.

QOTW: I just love to travel... Some of my favorites have been Ireland (I could totally live there), Austria and I got married in Hawaii so it definitely holds a special place for me.

  • Have a regular check up this Friday. Sent out my baby shower invitations this weekend so getting excited to see things bought off my registry. Lol. We also booked my work trip/baby moon. Going to Nashville and Austin in November. We haven't even started the nursery yet and still need to finish my kitchen so not much time for planning or anything else.
Favorite vacations?? I don't know. There are a few: Istanbul, Ukraine, Argentina too many favorites haha
  • @Drove2u I was born in Ukraine, how cool that you have it on your list of favorite vacation spots!
I also thought of you this weekend as I was finishing up my registry how you said you have 190 or so items on it. I got to 120 but still feel like I'm missing something. I'm also getting feedback from 2 friends and getting some conflicting answers on what I need and what items are useless. My head is spinning lol...

  • @chicabubbly I added must haves plus some wants. Lol. Just be sure to periodically check your baby registry because a lot of things I found are discontinued or out of stock or not available online.
  • @chicandbubbly I had to work under pressure as my baby shower invites need to go out soon, but it definitely took a while. I still go back and forth on a few things. Man, babies need a lot of stuff!

  • Hi ladies.
I don't think I updated yet this week. Everything is going well, the blood has slowed down even further. I'm hopeful it will stop altogether, and soon.

It seems like a few people had check ups this week, if you've been already, how did it go?

You guys are making me feel so behind w/ the registering. So long as everything goes well at our u/s on Monday we will start registering. Thus far I only know the crib and stroller we would like, we have a lot of work ahead of us.

qotw: favorite vacation spot to date is Dubrovnik, Crotia, it is beautiful - the beaches! - and so welcoming. I love Rome, Italy too tho, and most of Switzerland... But I guess, Northern Michigan in the autumn is my place.

  • Good morning all!
I'm finally feeling back to normal after my short depressive spell and so I feel like I can focus again.
No appointments this week, but so excited: last night Wee Boy got the hiccups! I was laying on my side talking to my mom with my hand on my stomach and I felt him "poke" me a couple of times and it was actually moving my hand. So I had my mom touch my belly and it was really rhythmic pokes for about a minute that she got to feel too. It was SOOO cool.
I am way behind on my registry. Basically I have a couple onesies, and a ton of books. Next week DH and I will go to Buy Buy Baby to actually get going.

@chicandbubbly sorry to hear about your scare! Hope the rest of this week is smooth sailing

QOTW: Basically anywhere in Great Britain, as long as it's summer. My sister and brother in law lived in Wales for 10 years, so I got to go out there a few times. It's so beautiful and I love visiting castles. DH and I also like to go up to Grand Lake and Estes for short trips.

  • chicandbubbly - the first glucose test is typically just a 1 hour. I didn't even have to fast for it. She just said don't eat a really sugary breakfast and then you can't eat/drink for the hour after you drink the drink. Plus I've heard the 1hr gives a lot of false positives which is why so many people have to repeat with the 3 hour. I think if you just try to be really good the day or so before you go in, you'll be fine

  • @dragonfaerie I love this recipe, https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2015/10/16/whole-wheat-mini-pumpkin-muffins/

but today I made this (healthy, but still tastes pretty yummy!) Full recipe here: https://www.makingthymeforhealth.com/healthy-flourless-pumpkin-muffins/

    Recipe:

    1 cup pumpkin puree

    1/2 cup pure maple syrup

    2 eggs

    1 tablespoon vanilla extract

    4 tablespoons almond butter*

1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

2 and 1/4 cup rolled oats

    1 teaspoon baking powder

    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon cinnamon

    1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

    Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F and then grease or line a muffin tin for 12 muffins. Starting with the wet ingredients first (pumpkin, maple syrup, eggs, etc.) layer everything except the chocolate chips into a blender or a food processor and blend for about 30 seconds, or until smooth. Using a spoon, gently stir the chocolate chips into the batter. Pour the batter into the muffin tin, filling each about 3/4th of the way full. Bake in the oven for 22 minutes, until light golden brown. Allow to to cool for at least 10-15 minutes before stuffing in your face.

  • @chicandbubbly the doctors have no clue what caused it. I suppose there are probably theories, but none were shared with me. I am so trying your recipe, it sounds amazing!!

24 weeeeeks today!! I don't think I will be able to relax until this baby is in my arms, but it feels good knowing that if anything else happens we are considered "viable" at this point!
