Kellogg's Eggo Nutrigrain Waffle Recall due to Listeria

Hey ladies. Just wanted to share this!

About 10,000 cases of Kellogg Nutri-Grain whole wheat-flavored waffles have been pulled from shelves because they could contain Listeria monocytogenes, the company said on Monday.

The affected waffles come in a package of 10 and have an expiration date of Nov. 21 or Nov. 22, 2017.

soo... I have a question. If you toast your Eggo waffles and they come out steaming, doesn't that kill the listeria? The reason I'm asking is because that's one of the things I can actually eat on my GD diet. I haven't purchased them yet and am now hesitant to do so because of the recall, but I was under the impression if you heated a food to the "steaming" point it killed it off. I could be totally wrong though!

I would probably just check the expiration date and make sure the package you're buying isn't part of the recall. The supermarkets should have removed them from the shelves by now. I think you're right and if they are cooked to the point of steaming it should kill the listeria but I'm sure there is some variability in how hot microwaves get.

Yes, it's not the lunch meat it's the slicers that harbor bacteria, same for soft serve ice cream.

Right?! Our frozen organic veggies got recalled from Costco. Too bad we had eaten them all already.

So I follow this person on instagram because she does weight watchers like I do sometimes (I follow a lot of fitness accounts) and she posted yesterday that as soon as she heard they were recalling the Cookie Dough Blue Bell because of listeria she ran to buy all they had. Then she posted a picture with it and said "any comments about listeria will be deleted." And I'm just over here trying to figure out how to process this. I'm kind of incredulous and confused. I'm not exactly judging, more like I'm trying to decide if I tend to overreact with these recalls or if she is spectacularly under-reacting.

Seriously, in the past few years EVERYTHING BUT lunch meat and soft cheese has been recalled due to listeria. Someone needs to update the pregnancy food guidelines or whatever they're called.

@Austenista Considering the last Blue Bell listeria outbreak killed several people...I'd say she's seriously underreacting. It's one thing to not get overly freaked out about a recall, it's another to go out and specifically buy the food that's just been recalled for a known contamination issue. That's cray.
