2+ mamas Brag about your kids here

Today I was on a mission to find a dress for my cousins wedding this weekend that hides my ridiculous bloated pregnant belly. My boys spent THREE hours at the mall with me looking for a dress and shoes and even hung in there when the dress broke while I was trying it with a different bra and had to go back to the store for an exchange. They were amazing. And my almost 4 year old son kept giving me his opinion and it was the sweetest thing ever.
Considering yesterday was a terrible day and neither one was listening at all, this was a great reminder of how awesome my boys are.
Brag away mamas. Or vent if you want!

  • @mamatowildones Off topic, but did you find a dress? I was in the same boat shopping last weekend for a dress  for a wedding this weekend.  I finally found a dress in the maternity section of Macy's.  It's maternity but doesn't look like it at all.  It fits well over my bloat and perpetually 10-weeks-pregnant looking belly.  I'm pretty excited about it.

  • My sweet girls were so excited to watch the "petty sky"! Their excitement to see a beautiful sunset made me tear up!

I did! Macy's dress section. A nice flowy dress that hides it as best I can.

  • My gosh I'd brag on my big three all day if I could haha! I am completely smitten with them...otherwise they would have been sold a long time ago (jk btw haha!).
Squishy is becoming such a little lady. It's so nice to see her independence blossom. We told her and DS about the baby a few days ago and since then she has been so incredibly helpful, more than normal, and is so openly excited about the baby that it's made me even more excited.
Fishy had picture day at school today and he wore a bow tie. He has now told me that he wants to wear a bow tie every day and wants to be a ventriloquist dummy for halloween so he can wear a bow tie haha! He also straightened it and said thank you every time someone told him how handsome he looked today.
Bean has been sick, we're all passing colds around, so she has been extra moody haha but this morning she played so nicely with a friend so I had a few minutes to breathe and chat with my friend :)

  • I love this thread, haha!

I'm proud of my kids because they are SO close with each other. I'm especially proud of DS over this because usually the younger one is excited about his/her older sibling, but the older one is less interested in the younger one. He is completely over the moon about his little sister, so it works out great. Of course they fight, but it's always little stuff and they make up quickly. They spend so much time hugging each other. We just started them sharing a room (we were going to do this anyway, not just for the new baby--in fact we made the change when I thought I was losing the baby) and the kids both LOVE being together. I hope their relationship never changes! They are so tight I can't imagine them taking in a sibling, otoh I think it just goes to show they have so much love to give they will treat #3 this way, too.

As for each one of them, the other night I was solo parenting and DS decided to go into babysitter/helper mode with his sister. It was completely adorable and sweet. She was a challenge that night so it was a huge help that he stepped up, especially because the stressful event that set off my weekend from hell was something having to do with DS (he has emotion regulation and impulse control problems and it bore out in a bad way with a neighborhood kid.) He was very proud of being a helper, which also made me happy for him.

As for DD, she is loving her new preschool and clearly killing it. She is so excited to go every day and drop-off is a breeze. She also got sad when she found out that she'd have a break from school over the weekend. From all of the photos they put on the class website she looks very happy, mature, making friends, doing stuff, etc. From having a special needs kid as #1 it is really different to have this kind of "student" (just preschool) for #2.

I love all of this, but especially Fishy. Reminds me of when my son went through a bowtie phase at age 4. I'm wondering if we could get him back into that. It was so adorable!

  • DD just turned 2. DH had always been concerned about her speech development. She has always been ahead on motor skill and I think she was more focused on that before speaking. Last night I took out a 100 words picture book and started asking her what is what, knowing she would try to say the word of the item. The pride on DH's face was so sweet to see. She knew the words all along, it was just a matter of time.
