Re: Fitness Check-In w/o 9/19
1. My "hopes" for this week are to continue training for my 10k. I'm supposed to be logging 19miles. ((I thew out my hip and have an appointment with a chiropractor today to get it aligned again, not sure if I'll need to rest some after the manipulation.)
2. Last week was mostly a wash. Had a great start with a 7mile run, and then hip happened so I've been resting, stretching, and pitying myself with too many treats.
3. Rant--anatomy scan in 9days!! So excited to find out the gender. Anyone else see a chiropractor or DO for manipulations during pregnancy?? I'm hoping it's a miracle worker and gets me back on my fit pregnancy journey!
4. GTKY: Least favorite type of exercise/fitness activity: Hmmm. I'd say sprints/speed training. I like long distance, I always hated training with teams, or try outs that involved long sprint sessions.
Im late to the game-but I'll try and participate in the plank challenge this week, if my hip gets fixed!
Morning ladies!! I am so sorry I wasn't around all weekend.. It was a crazy one.
1. Maybe a short run tomorrow morning?!?! and my fitness class on Thursday. My other goal is to track all my food (not necessarily watch the calories) in MFP. I just want to know my intake at this point.
2. Last week was great! Hit my steps per usual and did my first Oh Baby Fitness Class. I was approached by the instructor after class asking me if I was interested in becoming an instructor and leading the class I was attending. I was very very flattered and am considering it. I feel like the accountability (along with the fact that they would pay me) would be a strong reason to consider.
3. My bump has arrived!! Yay!! But I am now struggling with pants. I purchased some maternity yoga capri pants from Target (price tag $30) and I LOVE them the only issue is I want moar and but don't want to fork over another $30. Anyone have any tips on where I can find cheaper ones?
4. Lunges, squats, burpees!! ugh.... burpees!! all of the above with the exception of running.
@roq_holiday, @starfish113, @jlellis603, @MLrocha, @MrsP052909, and @foxrosy -- how is the 2 week challenge going? We should be on day 3 which is 20 second plank. In hindsight I should have suggested a wall sit, these planks are killing me and its only day 3! ha.

2. How did you do with last week's goals? No exercise other than walking the dogs (briefly b/c I kept finding it hard to breathe). Diet wasn't great because I had some things I wanted to eat before my eight week challenge started.
3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns? I woke up on Saturday with a charley horse in my calf and am still dealing with horrible muscle tightness there. DH massaged it, I've used the foam roller and stretched in every way I could think of... Still not much progress. Upping my water intake today to see if it helps.
4. GTKY: Least favorite type of exercise/fitness activity. Anything to do with running. DH and I trained and ran our first couple of 5k's together a few years back. Everyone said after the first year of running consistently, you just sort of learn to like it... Wrong! I gave it two+ years and still hated every single second.
Optional: Plank challenge discussion. Planks are hard. I didn't think that such a short time would be so challenging. I'm curious to see if I'll be able to make it to the 60 second mark. 15 seconds already seems intense.

2. I missed both spin classes, UGH! Work had me running late so I couldn't make it to the evening spin classes. Because of the missed spin, I wasn't able to do the pool either
I did make it to yoga 4x, I skipped the prenatel yoga class yesterday because I just can't dig it. Everyone in the class have never done yoga, ever, so most of the time I am stuck in the same position for a few minutes waiting for the instructor to go around and show each girl how to down dog. Not for me I thinks, and I know my annoyed energy isn't good for that class. Down dogging for five minutes just pisses me off LOL
3. I am in love with all my new maternity leggings I got in the mail last week!! I was really starting to feel pinched in forward folds with my normal leggings. @FishyMom if you're looking for pants under 30, try scoping out the maternity section of Ross, TJ Maxx or Marshalls! I snagged a few for 10 bucks. The ones I really loved with fun prints, I bought online from Old Navy ($20-$30) and Pink Blush ($39).
4. Oh boy, running has always been my least favorite, but I have done a half marathon and half ironman, so I must not hate it THAT much lol. I think my body hates it most of all, I just don't think I was built for it. From my races, I've gotten a labral tear in my hip and knee pain any time I start it back up. I generally only run for training purposes if I have a race coming up. Fun runs are not in my vocab. I don't get that "good feeling/runners high". Just angry most of the time LOL, focusing on the music until its over. I may be some kind of weird fitness masochist
Oh and yeah and anything jump-involved like burpees or jumping jacks or jump rope. I have huge boobs, even when I'm not pregnant, so its not fun for me and I have flashbacks of boys in high school staring at me lol.
Plank challenge is going great so far! I am trying to do them in the mirror to watch my hips to make sure they don't droop @FishyMom could you repost the image?

Goals for this week are to make it to the gym at least 5 times this week. I also need to up my water intake.
2. How did you do with last week's goals?
Last week I did not work out as much as I had hoped. My husband is out of town so that meant no before work gym time. I was relying on my parents to watch my kids, I did still make it 3 times so I feel pretty good about that.
3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns?
I also want to know where everyone is buying reasonably priced workout pants. This is my last baby so I can't justify spending a ton of money on something I'll only wear for a few more months.
4. GTKY: Least favorite type of exercise/fitness activity
I hate running. I have found that the elliptical is much easier on my knees.
Optional: Plank challenge discussion
I've been doing a bit of a modified version of the plank challenge that was posted last week. I started doing 15 seconds of the regular plank and also 15 second side planks. I repeat them 3-4x. After 2 days I started doing 20 seconds. It's rough!
2. I made it to spin class and did weights for thirty minutes prior. Feeling sore the next day was nice.
3. I would like to clean up my eating a bit. I've been really craving sweets this pregnancy.
4. GTKY: I have a love/hate relationship with exercising in general. I do it because it helps me keep my depression and anxiety in check. I also love feeling fit and having increased energy. It was a lot easier to do prior to having a kid. When I was going before getting pregnant, I would work all day, drive an hour in traffic to pick up my son. Head to the gym, get home around 8, make dinner, get son in bath and bed. My days were so long! I worry about how I can manage with two.
Optional: Plank challenge is going well!
Zumba 2-3x, Finish painting my kiddos' room
2. How did you do with last week's goals?
eh, okay. Eating is a problem.
3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns?
No new ones
4. GTKY: Least favorite type of exercise/fitness activity
Running/ Walking... Soooo BORING
Optional: Plank challenge discussion
Hmm. I will have to talk to my Zumba instructor about this. My SPD is baaaaad and I am trying desperately to stay active. I wonder how planking fits in with that.

So I work from home and figured out a way to get my butt off a chair with $10 worth of supplies haha! I'm excited to see my activity level go up, I went to the doctor today for my check up and and he says I really don't need to gain any more weight LOL. I was like I CrossFit bro, don't you know muscle weighs more? #doyouevenliftdoc

2. I met my exercise goal, but eating healthy is so hard while living in a hotel. I got some groceries I can make with the microwave to help do better this week.
3. Not today!
4. I hate ab work. I don't care if my abs are flat and it's so boring!
2. How did you do with last week's goals?
I did not get much done last week as I was sick and getting over being sick.
3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns?
I've been walking the past couple of days but towards the end my butt/back are so sore it's almost hard to continue on. I have 20 more weeks to figure out how to get some type of exercise in.
4. GTKY: Least favorite type of exercise/fitness activity
So many! Planks and push-ups are terrible though.
Optional: Plank challenge discussion

2. How did you do with last week's goals? Stayed on target.
3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns? I've been feeling random movement but am itching to feel more consistent ones.
4. GTKY: Least favorite type of exercise/fitness activity: BURPEES! I loathe them.
1. What are your goals this week?
Take my dog on a nice evening walk at least 3-4 times this week. Also work on cleaning out the room for the nursery
2. How did you do with last week's goals?
3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns?
How do you guys like prenatal yoga? Would it be something I could start now if I haven't done yoga for several months?
4.GTKY: Least favorite type of exercise/fitness activity
Any ab workouts or push-ups and burpees
I think you're totally golden on trying out prenatal yoga! It wasn't for me because I've been practicing for almost 4 years and it isn't advanced enough (I prefer the faster vinyasa or power classes), I really hope that didn't make me sound like an elitist douche!
Most prenatal classes are made for beginners or girls who haven't done yoga at all ever, and they are tailored to give you pregnancy alternatives so it's really a great option, and so good for you. I can't rave enough about yoga and how I think it has attributed to this pregnancy being pain and symptom free, but what do I know, it is more likely a mixture of luck and genetics. My mom said she had it real easy too, and she was as far from fit as can be when she was pregnant.
And yaaaay @JulesFo on spin and the heart rate monitor! I have a polar m400 I've been rocking for almost two years, and I feel so naked when I forget it. I've actually not worked out a few times when I've forgotten to wear my watch or monitor, what's the point if I can't track it? LOL
and like pp said-if you go to a class, they can modify anything you feel is too advanced (if needed) but prenatal practices are usually fine for beginners!
