Loosing insurance

I could be loosing my insurance at the end of the month. I think (but am not sure due to the size of the company) that I should be able to pay for COBRA to keep my plan, but this is gong to be a major financial hit for us paying that premium, which we would have to pay until the end of January and the baby is born. 
Plus with having a baby in January it gets really messy with deductibles and signing up for a new plan for next year with the market place, since I will no longer have employer healthcare.  Ugg. I know I was complaining about insurance last week, but this is just frustrating.  I am tempted to induce in late December, to avoid some of the headache, I'm due January 6th.  Although I really would not want to induce unless I have to for medical reasons or push this baby's birthday any closer to Christmas than it already is!

    So i'm not sure that a doctor would induce you for that kind of reason. 
    I know the insurance thing can be brutal, but it's just one of those things to suck it up and deal with. All of us have the january issue with the deductible, but it is what it is, and if you get organize now you won't be dealing with trying to get a new plan in place just as baby is due.

    Can you find an insurance broker to see if you could get a plan in place that would be cheaper than COBRA? When DD was born, it was actually cheaper for all three of us to be on separate plans than one plan together. It was kind of a pain, but it saved us about $200/month overall.

    Ugh we just went through this when my husband was layed off.  He's insurance runs July through June which was perfect with an Early January due date.  We just switched to my insurance and will probably not hit our 2016 deductible and need to start all over again in January with baby girls delivery.  I completely understand your frustrations but you need health insurance now more than ever.  I suggest calling and pricing everything.  If they have 2017 pricing available I would get that as well.  Take a few deep breathes, because dealing with insurance is enough to make anyone need a drink, than start to really compare pricing and coverage.  You should compare the coverage for your prenatal appointments and make sure your hospital is in network for all the plans you are looking into.  It might make more sense to start the new plan in January since the new baby and you will have lots of appointments that should be completely covered after delivery takes up your deductible.
