Until we start to have a few takers on this I'm not going to bother with questions. Just want a place for people who are newly diagnosed to come to right away to bounce ideas off each other. Hoping I remain the only one in this group and this discussion never takes off but I know people are going to start having some GTT soon.
Re: GD Check In 9/19
ETA so pissed because I'm still dealing with morning sickness. Sorry but I've tried a lot, oatmeal or bagels in the morning are the only things that'll keep me from throwing up. I already eat pretty clean, only whole grains etc, I freaking dare them to dictate what I can eat when I'm just trying to stop throwing up....
@TinaBelcher I'm so sorry to hear that. I know you were dreading the test. I can't imagine trying to deal with this while still suffering from morning sickness. Does your doctor refer you to someone else for monitoring and a nutritionist? I now get to see an internist to monitor my numbers and diet because she will be the one to determine if medication is needed. I have my second nutritionist class tomorrow.
I am fortunate because everyone I've had to talk to about this (nutritionist and internist) has been so willing to work with any needs I have and been pretty supportive of managing it with nutrition and not going on meds.
Friday I was really pissed about everything to do with counting carbs and checking blood sugars but I have my "why me" moment and got back at it.
Is GD more common with multiples?
I have a 3 hour class at the hospital next week, then I meet with my OB a week after that. I'm not sure yet what the monitoring and mentoring will entail but I'm willing to just go on Metformin ASAP and get that over with! My RE puts all of his patients on it as a precaution in case of undiagnosed (or difficult to diagnose) PCOS so I've BTDT, I'd much rather pop a metformin at night and stick to my morning bagel than barf up eggs every morning ::temper tantrum::
