I'm sitting here and noticing I'm having them tonight. I know they start earlier with each pregnancy and this is my third, but this seems soon. Anyone else?

Re: Braxton Hicks

  • I felt one at 14 weeks.
  • Loading the player...
  • Not me, but I had an employee who had them all the way through her second and third trimesters. Lying flat on her back and drinking tea helped her.

  • I was told they can be triggered by dehydration so put your feet up and have some water!

    I'm 16w with #3 but haven't felt any yet.
  • I was a lost told triggered my dehydration! Drink up mama! I'm on baby two at am 14 weeks, and haven't had any
  • I think they are usually later, but anytime in the second tri seems normal assuming they go away when you change position or get comfortable.

  • This is an add on question, but did anyone else feel like actual contractions felt nothing like Braxton Hicks? With BH my belly would get hard like a basketball but it didn't hurt me... Just felt odd. With the real contractions, I didn't even know that was happening at all. I just felt overall bad and it came in waves. What was your experience?
  • My contractions felt nothing like BH. Every always talked about how they feel like really really awful menstrual cramps or like a pushing down and around your belly...MY contractions felt like someone trying to pry my legs off by my hips like I was a lobster...that's the only way I could describe it like someone was trying to make me do a sideways split and my hips were about to break..not what I was expecting in the least lol I guess I'm prepared this time at least?
  • @MauiQuickie mine was all back labor.  I have no idea what a "normal" contractions feel like. I'm certainly hoping I get to find out with this baby!!

    Amen.
  • I hope no one thinks I posted that to scare anyone..I was just completely caught off guard and wished that I had some kind of warning that my personal experience w/ contractions might be completely different than anything I had ever heard before

@Gators&BoSox I found it helpful, not scary.  I would rather know before hand.  I've always heard the "really bad period cramps", but yours was much more descriptive lol

Me too. My contractions in active labor were just really effing intense back cramps that felt like my spine was snapping and made me vom and a burning tight sensation between.

  • Holy crap you poor ladies! I guess we can all agree that labor sucks.
  • It's really interesting to hear how different everyone experiences it.
