Wishing everyone short, healthy, and happy births!!
Well I guess I have the first announcement to make although I'm not a frequent poster but am a lurker to the October '16 Moms and was due in October '16. However, I was diagnosed with Mono Mono twins (same amniotic sac, same placenta, the rarest type of twins) at 9 weeks so I knew I was never going to make it to October. I spent 6.5 weeks in the hospital, admitted at 24 weeks for continuous monitoring, so doctors could see if there was any cord entanglement or the babies were in any distress at all. Mono mono twins are only given a 50% chance of survival with close monitoring due to the risk of cord entaglement( imagine throwing two shoe laces in the dryer and trying to not have them come out tangled, that's what we were dealing with). On Monday8/8 we had what was to be my final growth scan,@2:15 which the sonographer told the babies both looked great for 30 weeks 3 days and one was even estimated to weigh over 4 pounds, it looked like the girls would definitely make it to our scheduled c-section at 32 weeks. We were elated. We get back to my room at 3 and I remember saying to my husband wow it's 3 we need to eat. So we sit down to lunch and the nurses come in to put me back on the monitors and at first I was going to say can we hold off because the girls had been doing so well but I didn't. The nurses left the room and not even 5 minutes later came back in because baby A's heart rate was going from 200's to 70's and back up which she had never done before. The doctor was called and I rushed to labor and birth where we were told I was going right to OR after a quick ultrasound baby A's HR was still over 200. The doctor quickly asked for my consent to have a c-section whichbibof course gave. My husband was taken away to gown up. Once in the OR I heard the team of doctors debate what anesthesia was going to be used and I heard the words I didn't want to hear, general anesthesia. Before I knew what was happening every person was starting to prep every inch of my body, I was started on oxygen which was switched to anesthesia as soon as I heard, "ok we are just about ready to cut". That was the last thing I remember until I woke up in a severe amount of pain with no idea of what had just happened in the recovery room. Both girls were born at 3:44pm. Baby A-Elise weighed 3pounds 14 ounces and Baby B-Adelaide weighed 3pounds 8 ounces. Both are doing well! One's still on a ventilator and one is on cpap. I am slowly recovering from my emergency c-section and living in a whirlwind of emotions. It was probably the most overwhelming and scariest thing I've ever gone through but seeing my beautiful girls make it all worth it. Sorry if the story is a little hard to follow it all happened so fast it's hard for me to explain and remember everything that happened. I wish all the other October '16 moms the best of luck in the rest of their pregnancies and hope for a safe delivery of all the babies.
This has been a difficult pregnancy, to say the least. I was pregnant with boy/girl di/di twins and at week 29 we lost our daughter. At my twice weekly ultrasound on Thursday, at 33 weeks exactly, we found our son had ogliohydraminos or low fluid, as well as elevated dopplers. Rather than risk keeping him in, we headed upstairs to L&D and did a 24 hr round of rescue steriods and delivered via c-section 24 hours later.
Our son is in NICU for the time being, weighing in at 3lbs13oz and measuring 16.4 inches. He's a little guy but doing really well regulating his temp and maintaining his sugars. He has a steady heartbeat and has been breathing room air since delivery, assisted with a canula. Our hospital gave us a beautiful, amazing memory box for our daughter that didn't make it with her little footprints and a hand crocheted mini blanket. We also got photos of her hands and feet, but until we're ready to look at them they're in a sealed envelope. But baby boy should be off of oxygen tomorrow and we're going to try nipple feeding tomorrow. It's been a difficult road to this point but all things considered we are supremely blessed.
Lurking from F17. I'm so terribly sorry you lost your daughter. I'm praying for her and for your son to become healthy very soon so you can take him home. You are a strong woman. Please take care of yourself.
Edit: Ooh crap sorry! Totally forgot this is the announcements thread! So sorry won't do it again! I was just so caught up in PP's loss and difficulty.
A week ago on the 26th I went to the hospital because I wasn't feeling as much fetal movement as normal. The baby looked fine but my blood pressure was elevated so they admitted me for observation. Sunday morning I was begging to go home since my baby shower was that day. They said no, they didn't feel comfortable, so I Skyped to see my shower and sent my husband in my place. Halfway through the shower my blood pressure went up to 180/120s. They put me on a magnesium drip and informed me I would be having a csection in a couple hours. I called my husband to come back to the hospital (I barely squeaked out a sentence but he understood) and tried to mentally prepare myself for what was happening. Emilia Maura was born Sunday 8/28 at 6:51pm. The sound of her crying after they delivered her was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. She was intubated for one night due to her getting tired after delivery (thank God they had given me steroids when they admitted me on Friday) and the next morning she was on cpap for a few hours and has been on room air ever since. She is growing a little everyday and just amazes me with how strong she is. She was 3lbs 2.5oz at birth (32weeks 5days).
All I can say ladies is listen to your bodies and what you are feeling. I felt silly going to the hospital, but had I not trusted my instincts, with my bp being so high, she woukdnt have gradually lost blood flow and I could have had a stroke. We know more about ourselves than we give ourselves credit for.
This last trimester has definitely been challenging. My little man tried to make his arrival at 31 weeks and after receiving steroids to help his lungs and stopping labor I was able to keep him cooking for for 3 more weeks! On Friday the 2nd, at 34 +4 weeks, in the morning I started leaking amniotic fluid and after a quick confirmation from my Dr. I was transferred to labor and delivery. After around 26 hours of labor and 90 minutes of pushing Hunter Lee Greenhalgh was finally here September 3 at 1:30pm!
After a a quick visit with me he was taken directly to the NICU. At 6lbs 9oz he is a pretty good size, but has to stay in the NICU on a cpap machine. My little man is such a fighter and he seems to be doing well! He is the best thing in the world!
Felicity joy came a few weeks early on 9/2/2016. It started about a week before then. I went to my MFM appointment and was told my amniotic fluid was a little low. 7.? Abd to increase my fluid intake to 8 bottles of water per day. Went to my next ob appointment (last Tuesday), cervix was 0 and nothing really to report. I asked my ob what is the latest he'd let my ptegnancy go before inducing, due to my GD . He said 39 weeks if or sooner because of the low fluid. I was thinking 38-39 weeks. On Thursday I went to my last MFM appointment. My fluid was lower, 6.3. He told me that he wanted to measure my fluid again the next day at the hospital. I asked what could cause low fluid and was told dehydration or problems with the plecenta. He said if my fluid was lower he would deliver. When I went in on Friday, 9/2 my fluid was 3.6. I was then admitted.
After being admitted I was told my c section was scheduled for 3pm. Then it was moved up and pushed back again. I was finally rolled into the or at 4pm. She was born at 4:40 pm and when my ob pulled her out he said she really didn't have any fluid.
She he was born perfectly healthy at 5lb 13oz and 19.5 inches long. She didn't have to spend any time in the nicu and was able to breathe without any assistance and no lights.
Note to first time moms and first time c section moms: it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I felt better the day after my c section than I did on any given day during my pregnancy. The pain was completely manageable. The first night home was wonderful. It wasn't bad to get up to feed her during the night. Also breastfeeding hadn't been as painful as I thought it would be. I put on lanolin after every feeding though.
Our sweet, little bundles are here! Beckham Silas arrived at 1:09 p.m., weighing 5 lbs 11 oz, and is 19 inches long and Jack Michael arrived at 1:21 p.m., weighing 5 lbs 10 oz and is 19 inches long. They are absolutely perfect, the delivery could not have gone better, and we are so in love!
I had my last OB appointment on Thursday and was at a 3 and 80% effaced. Later that evening I started timing my contractions because they were a bit more painful that normal. I woke up Friday morning and by 9 am they were 2 minutes apart. We decided to go in and get checked out. We arrived at L&D around one and we were triaged. I was at a 4 at that point and contracting regularly so my OB decided to admit me. Started Pitocin and nothing. They kept bumping my dosage up to no avail. By 7 am on Friday I was done. Absolutely exhausted. My epidural had been placed a couple hours before and only worked on the left side. My OB decided to break my water at 9 am and shit got real. I stayed at a 6 for forever and then went to a 10 within an hour. Most excruciating pain ever. I went so fast that my epidural couldn't help the pain. I was quickly wheeled to the OR to deliver. I pushed once and A (Beckham) was out. B (Jack) was a bit harder and came out about 15 minutes later. They had to use the vacuum. I'm exhausted, but so blessed. Jack is the NICU because he's having some breathing issues, but Beckham is perfectly healthy.
Well, my little girl came early due to the complications of preeclampsia. Kaylee entered this world at 11:49 this morning. She's 6 weeks 5 days early and only weighs 2lbs 15oz. That being said, she's has been breathing just fine on her own and the NICU doc says for one so small, she is very impressive. I'm elated that she is doing so well, however I'm still a little sad. Since she was delivered by c-section, I didn't really get to see her right after they got her out, and because I'm still on Magnesium sulfate I have to stay abed and I can't go to the NICU to see her and I want to so badly!
Elliott John and Ethan Louis born 9/13 at 4:28 and 4:29pm, at 37weeks! Elliott is 6lb8oz and Ethan is 5lb12oz, both 18.5inches. C-section was scary during the preparation time, but went so quickly. Both boys are currently having their breathing monitored in NICU, but look great. They are completely adorable, and we're in love all over again!
Realized I had posted in the labor thread I think but didn't follow up. Friday I was unexpectedly admitted for pre-e and attempted induction ended in emergency c section Sunday night. We are both still recovering but as of last night are together and doing good! After a lot of incredible pain and a few scary moments, I'm just so happy and so excited for the rest of you to get to have your babies on the outside when it's time! And, congrats & good luck to all the other early mamas!
Hazel Mae entered the world at 5:33pm on 9.16.16. She weighed 5 lbs 13 oz and was 18.5 in long.
I went in for my weekly midwife appointment on Tuesday and she sent me right to the hospital for elevated blood pressure. The officially diagnosed me with severe preeclampsia. They started me on magnesium and gave me misoproxin to try and ripen my cervix. It wasn't dialated or effaced at all when I arrived. I slightly started to freak out because I told them I was supposed to have an October baby, but they quickly informed me that would not be happening. They continued to monitor my blood pressure and urine output since they had placed a catheter. I ended up not bring able to continue with the midwives due to the pre-e, but the physician was still shooting for a vaginal birth. They gave me more misoproxin and tried pitocin over the next 48 hours, in the end I only dialated to 4cm and was barely effaced. They gave me the option of continuing to see if I wanted to deliver vaginally or go for the c-section. At that point I was mentally and physically exhausted (I hadn't eaten since Wednesday at noon), so I went for the c-section. Then the whirlwind stated, within 20 minutes I was in the OR and almost ready to go. Hazel came out screaming and ready to go! I'm still pretty out of it because they just stopped the magnesium, but I'm looking forward to more baby cuddles and attempting to breastfeed.
I'll reread and edit this later after the drugs all wear off, but it's the abbreviated version of our birth story.
Jacob was our Team Green turned BOY yesterday, the 17th!! 5lbs and 15ounces, 19in long. He was almost 4 weeks early, but completely healthy! Delivery was much better than I imagined and I am very grateful.
Parker James arrived 9/18 at 2:53pm! He was 6lbs and 14oz and 20inches long! Around 2:30am, I felt a pop and realized my water broke! From start to finish, labor was 12 hours with 1.5hrs of pushing. He came out with the cord wrapped around his neck twice but luckily he was ok!
He's was in the NICU because of my having gestational diabetes and his sugars were low! I finally got him in the room and able to breastfeed for the first time around 4am!
Nicholas Wayne arrived on 9/13 at 36 weeks 5 days weighing 7lbs 15 oz. After my fourth trip to the restroom and lying back down, I felt a trickle which I attributed to my position. Well the trickle kept coming and 13 hours later, we had a baby!! He received phototherapy for high levels of bilirubin, but we were able to go home together after 2.5 days.
Benjamin Arrived on 9/18 at 36 weeks +2. We were very shocked, and did not have our hospital bag packed. The delivery went well, and we have a healthy baby boy. I'm so in love and can't wait for him to meet his brother.
Team green turned team pink, Amelia is here! She decided to come two weeks early on September 17 at 10:49 pm. She is 7lbs 7oz.
I started having some contractions on Friday night but they never became consistent and by midnight they were gone. I just thought it was false labor. Saturday around 5am they came back. We planned a med free home birth so I knew as long as baby was moving I could relax and let my body do what it needed to. The labor was not that bad until transition when I was ready to push but my body was not ready for baby to come. I had an amazing med free home birth with two midwives. Amelia is perfect and her two older sisters just want to love up on her all day.
I dont post much but. Miss Lanise was born 9/21/16 via c-section litte over 4 weeks early after my water just decided to break. She is 7lbs 4oz. She is doing well but in the nicu for observation because of my giestional diabetes and anti k.
Francis Peter decided to come early on Tuesday, September 13 at 36 weeks 6days. I got up that morning went to the bathroom and as I was getting up felt a pop. my water broke as I was washing my hands. It was pretty similar to what you see on tv. My water broke at 715 and Frankie was here by 2:49 pm. I pushed for 49 minutes and thanks to needing my epidural adjusted twice I didn't feel a thing! He was 8lbs 6oz and 22 inches long. We had an ultra sound the Friday before and they estimated he was only 6.5 lbs, so just a little off : )
Baby Anna made her debuet on Thursday morning at 5:10am. She only weighed 5lbs 13 oz and 17 in long. I was 38 wks 3 days. We are so in love. Big brother loves his little sister. She loves to eat and has taken to breastfeeding like a champ. Labor came very quick for us and I actually did it med free due to her coming so very fast. The Dr on Call totally missed my delivery and the nurse staff actually caught her as she literally shot out as soon as my water broke in the hospital.
Y'all! I went in for my regular OB appointment on Thursday, 9/22, and ended up being sent to L&D. Apparently my fluid was low and they couldn't detect much movement from Baby on ultrasound. I was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced.
Down in L&D they ran pitocin but Baby was not happy with that. After a few hours of his heartbeat dropping during each contraction, they cut off the pit and decided to set me up for a c-section around 8:30 Friday morning with me being 35wks+5days along.
Scariest time of my life, but I made it! When they pulled him out he had a perfect little knot tied up in the middle of his umbilical cord! But he was pink (not yellow like we all feared) and was crying like crazy, so his lungs were working good! He weighed 4lbs 5oz and was 16.5in long. Since he was premature and so small he is currently in the NICU.
I haven't gotten to visit him yet (it's Friday night) because my blood pressure went sky high and is having trouble coming down and staying put, so I'm stuck in bed with a 24hr magnesium drip. I will be able to go visit after the drip hopefully, Saturday afternoon.
It's been an emotional two days, but Baby Bamacoop was totally worth it!
Kadence Marianne joined the world at 9:55 am on September 25th at 19 1/2 inches and 7 lbs 3 oz.
We were at our nieces birthday party Saturday night around 8 pm when I felt some intense cramping. I didn't say anything to FI because honestly I felt like I just had to poop. So we get in the car to leave around 9 and just for grins decided to track the contractions. They were consistently 7 min apart. Around 9:45, I tell FI that I had been feeling contractions and that I wanted to take a bath and drink some water to try and stop them. (At this point I thought it was me being on my feet all day, had a baby shower then a first birthday and was literally running around all day.) Well the bath and the water didn't help so I asked him to start tracking. The intensity was getting worse where I couldn't talk and they got down to 5 min apart and around 30-45 secs each time. He called the doctor and she told us to come in. We almost didn't pack our bags because we figured we would be sent home. Get to the hospital around 12:30 and go to triage. Hook me up and check me. Her next words were "well, you're 7 cm dilated...congrats you're having a baby today!" All of a sudden it chooses that time to check my blood pressure which shot up to 168/70. Talk about freak out mode!
Apparently I did a lot of my hard labor at home. Everybody was surprised I was at a 7 and not in more pain than I was. I was in a lot of pain but kept saying my pain was moderate because I figured it would be a lot worse. She asked if I wanted an epidural, because if so they needed to order it immediately. There was about to be a C-Section done so if I didn't get it then, I would be waiting two hours and with how fast I was progressing, they didn't know if I had that time. I said yes, they rushed me to my room and had me hooked up to IVs and I was signing paper work and getting my epidural put in within 10 min. Epidurals are awesome y'all! I stayed at about a 9 for like 5 hours when my water finally broke at 7am after a dose of Pitocin. At 9 am I had the pooping sensation when they had me start pushing. I pushed for almost an hour when Kadence arrived at 9:55am.
Rowyn Michelle joined the world on 9/25/16 at 5:02 pm 1 week and 5 days early. My water broke at 3:40am and off to the hospital we went. She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and was 19 inches long. She is doing fantastic and is nice and healthy. I love her so much allready!
(Same post as FB - I'll post more pictures when i am able to take them)
Hi Ladies - meet Jace. He was born this morning at 10:46am via an emergency c-section. He is weighing in at 5lbs 2oz.
After 13 hours of pitocin, I was only 6-7cm and he wasn't dropping, but his heart rate was declining after the contractions - so decision was made and into the OR I went. The c-section was actually great, I was so frozen I couldn't even feel pressure. So now it's time for Jace to come out and of course he take a big breath before clearing air space and he had pooped in the uterus. They said it looks like he pooped awhile ago because he was stained with it. Now they rushed him over with 7 nurses to try to get the meca out. That was the scariest moment of my life!
He's in the NICU but breathing on his own, X-rays show strong lungs but a small tear (probably from them rushing to get tubes in), sugars and blood levels are good and he's just getting all that extra mucus out. Looks like I might have to go home without him, but my fingers are cross that he is a trooper and I can bring him home when I leave.
I know people talk about never knowing love like this, but when he was being worked on, holy hell did I get it!!
After going in for an NST/BPP and cervical check, I started bleeding - a lot, thanks Doc.
We got to the hospital at about 10:30 and started antibiotics because we didn't have results from the GBS yet. Then came Pitocin. I wasn't moving from a 5, so I got my epidural and then broke baby A's water. After that, I progressed like crazy. We did practice pushes in the labor room until I had Carlisle at a +3 station and then wheeled to the OR. It took about an hour total I'd say if pushing her out. The epidural didn't work so it took a lot of endurance and screaming "i can't do this!" She was born at 2:25am and weighed 6lb 4oz. She had a ton of fluid in her lungs so she couldn't cry really. Then came baby B (Cora). They made sure she was still head down, helped guide her into position, broke her water and had me labor her down into the same station. Once we got there, it only took a few sets of pushing and she came out at 2:43am crying! They both needed NICU time for breathing help. Carlisle has a tube in and something inserted into her umbilical cord - haven't gotten all the details yet. Cora has a CPAP and an IV for fluids. They are stabilized and hopefully soon I can go see them.
All in all, this was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I think I'm still processing it and I can't wait to go see them for the first time and hold or touch them. I can't believe I'm a mom to 2 sassy things! I will post better pictures when I can get them. I know they have tons of hair but haven't witnessed it. This is what SO got while we were in the OR.
Archer Wyatt made his entrance into the world on 9/29/2016 at 2:49am. My labor journey began after being sent to the hospital straight from an NST test. I had issues with elevated BP and I had protein in my urine so I was sent to the hospital to be monitored longer. We got to the hospital at 11:00am Monday morning, and after being monitored for quite some time the MD decided that induction would be the safest option for me due to PreEclampsia symptoms (high BP & Protein in my urine). My induction process started at 6:00pm Monday night. I was given 6 doses of Cytotec, then I had a cervical balloon placed to help me dilate because the Cytotec only dilated me to 1.5cm. Once the cervical balloon fell out I was checked again and had progressed to 4cm. Once I reached 4cm it was time to start the Pitocin. I was on the Pitocin for 12 hours without and dilation progress (I stayed at 4cm). The MD then decided to break my water to jump start the process. My water broke at around 5:00pm and Archer was born at 2:49am the next morning. After my water broke and I got the epidural things sped up very quickly. After being in the hospital for just about 72 hours, I started pushing and then 2 hours later my precious little one entered this world. I am so in love. ❤️
Hadley Savannah and Quinlan Richard were born on 9/22 (37 weeks 1 day) at 8:03am and 8:04am via c-section. Hadley weighed in at 5 lbs 8oz and Quinlan 5lbs 15oz. Both babies are doing awesome and thankfully did not need any time in the NICU. I have major anxiety and the c/s was one of the scariest experiences I have ever been through, but I am proud of myself for making it through without passing out or losing consciousness And now that I have been through it and see what its about, if it happened again, I don't think I would be as scared. We spent 3 days in the hospital and are all now home and trying to settle into a routine.
Babies were born 6 days ahead of their scheduled c/s due to early preeclampsia that was detected on Monday at my routine NST appointment. We are so in love with these two!
Zoey May was born September 29th via RCS at 39w2d. We are already so in love! She likes to sleep all day and stay up all night. BF is going well and hopefully we'll be able to go home on Sunday. Congrats to all the other mamas!
Charlie John Martin was born this morning via repeat csection. He is 8 lbs, 6 oz and 20" long. He came out crying a loud, healthy cry! He's also nursing like a champ. We are so in love with him!
Clayton Matthew arrived at 2:38 p.m. October 1st. Checked in to labor and delivery around 11 a.m. with contractions 4 to 5 minutes apart. They monitored baby and contractions for a half hour then let us walk a half hour, this made contractions every 1.5 minutes, then back to back within a few contractions. Doctor decided to break my water and baby moved from the -1 to +3 station immediately, they quickly prepped the room and we had a baby.
I started having contractions Friday during the day and though "man, these are annoyong". Then Friday night in decided to a tart timing them and they were about every 7 minutes. Took a hot shower and laid down with a bunch of water and they didn't dissipate much. My husband was at a hockey game with our sons and got home around 1 am.. at 3 am I told him I thought I was in labor and around 6 I texted my mom to come over so we could come be checked. When we got here I was 4cm and 95% effaced, which was a change from 1cm at the office on monday, so I was admitted! Got to my labor room around 745-8 and was told by my nurse she'd check me again around 830. Then the doc said, no, he'd come check me and break my water. When he checked I was about 5cm and he broke my water and ordered my epidural. I got my epidUral around 930 and I was 7.5 at that time. Claire wasn't engaging very well and took a while to get a last lip of cervix out of the way around 2:00. They cut my epidural in half and I started feeling pressure and pushy. So, I started pushing a little after 2. The doctor joked that I would blow her right now because she was number four. Well, little miss was posterior, so it took about ten minutes instead of the five he expected

Delivery was much better than I imagined and I am very grateful.
He's was in the NICU because of my having gestational diabetes and his sugars were low! I finally got him in the room and able to breastfeed for the first time around 4am!

After being on bedrest since week 23 with a breech baby, MFM made the decision to schedule a c section due to possibility of cord prolapse.
All is well with baby and I. I'll add a picture later after I recover from the drugs.

Beta #2: 74
After my fourth trip to the restroom and lying back down, I felt a trickle which I attributed to my position. Well the trickle kept coming and 13 hours later, we had a baby!! He received phototherapy for high levels of bilirubin, but we were able to go home together after 2.5 days.
SO IN LOVE WITH HIM!!

Bump pals, say hello to Lewis!
Hi Ladies - meet Jace. He was born this morning at 10:46am via an emergency c-section. He is weighing in at 5lbs 2oz.
Babies were born 6 days ahead of their scheduled c/s due to early preeclampsia that was detected on Monday at my routine NST appointment. We are so in love with these two!
