April 2017 Moms

Nicknames?

Does anyone have a nickname they're calling their little embryo right now?

We started getting dark tests and high BBT almost right away (12-14 dpo) and H referred to this one as "The Mighty Thor"... fast forward to two weeks of insanely strong thunderstorms and we're taking it as a sign.  It cracks us up to read "The Mighty Thor is developing his primitive heart tube" on the Ovia app!

So, what names are you ladies using? Any stories on how they came to be?

Re: Nicknames?

  • My mom and I are calling it Baby G because the girl and boy names I like best start with a G. DH is on board with the girl's name, but I'm still trying to bring him around on the boy name. Ovia just says Baby Lastname for now.

  • I'm calling it pumpkin, because I'm oh so creative.

  • Winston. Or Wynstyn. Because my younger cousin just got a kitten and thought it was a boy. Initial vet visit said girl so she changed the spelling to add the y's. Then another vet visit reconfirmed boy. Poor kitty has had more gender bouncing in 6 months than most. Cue jokes. Lots of them. My mom and I had an entire 10 hour car trip after our visit and my bfp to joke about poor Winston. Or Wynstyn.

  • DS was "Baby H", so this one is "Baby H 2.0", which looks like Baby H20...water baby? Who knows. We don't share our names before baby is born so we'll have to settle into a nickname for sure.
  • No names yet but might go with Poppyseed because I'm 4 weeks and according to the Bump Calendar that's the size. Though when it gets to sweet pea or peach I might go with that. Baby S for our last name? I don't know. Hubby was talking to baby last night...adorable
  • For my last pregnancy, it changed as the week changed, so week 4 it was the poppy seed, week 11 (or whatever) it was the lime, week 17 it was the onion and so on and so forth. Generally, this time it's Baby Lastname 2.0 (what up, @lovelongdog06   ;))

Ps. Little Beast Videos crack us up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u3x5FqHHc8  The ovia app asks for a nickname and it has been awesome to read all the data...and have the world little beast added into it. HAHA!

  • No permanent nicknames yet. I've calling it "the clump of cells" once I got my BFP (that won't last), and I've got the app folder with TB and FF labeled "The Nugget" on my phone. I do like to nickname things and people though, so I'm sure I'll eventually come up with something better!

Our last baby was poppy baby. When we lost that one I got a tattoo of a poppy flower on my belly. Just finished healing actually. So, this one will need something else. DD was Baby Girl from 21 weeks on, when we knew she was a girl. We also keep names secret until after baby is born. So, we will need something.

Same here, not telling name to anyone because I feel people are so critical and I don't want any comments. AND honestly, we might change our minds. We have 1 idea for boy name (as of 3 months of dating) but not certain now. I'm super indecisive and this is big decision! I'd hate to choose a name and MIL/IL family get things with baby's name on it....because she would and then we change our mind.
  • We are calling it "Pat" right now after an SNL skit.  We have names picked out (have for a year now) but we won't share until the baby is born.

  • We called DS Tripod, because when we had out first US at 8 weeks, the umbilical cord was between his gummy bear legs and it looked like he had three legs (we obviously didn't know that he was a boy at the time). I've taken to calling this one Tripod 2.0, but I actually haven't told a single person yet, so it's all in my head! (My bloods should come back today and if those look good I'll tell DH tonight.)

  • We named it seekoeitjie (baby hippo) because when I was pregnant with DD towards the end I felt like a hippo. Figured Id have the same feeling this time... and I love hippos.
  • With DS, we called him 'Ewok' since DH and I are both pretty nerdy (and I didn't want my MIL calling it "lovebug" which is what she called her other two grandsons - yuck).  With this baby, we are continuing our nerdiness and calling this baby "Firefly" after one of our favorite (and too-soon cancelled) tv shows.
  • DD1 was Peanut because she literally looked like a little peanut on her first ultrasound. We still call her that :) DD2 was Two and we didn't share her name until birth, so our families even called her that! This one is "Minnie" so far.  We don't know the sex but the only reason I suspected I was KU was because DD1 randomly kissed my belly one day and said "Minnie!!"
  • After our first ultrasound we called the baby Billy Blob Thornton and Ricky Blobby because that's all it really looked like! Now we call it the baby...no cute nicknames yet!

  • I'm calling this little one gummy bear and "our Georgia peach" because we conceived in a beach house on Tybee island, GA. :) gummy bear comes from the fact that he or she looked like one at our last ultrasound. Haha.
  • With our first he was blueberry because that's how big he was at our first us. This one is surprise nugget because, well it was a huge surprise.  Lol!
  • We call this little one gibbler. Not sure how the name came about... Maybe from futurama?

Mermans will soon be cool!  They are re-making the movie Splash and Channing Tat"yum" will be the merman!   I can't wait!!! <3
