  • 1:How far along are you!?  18wks

2: How was your last week?
terrible!! I didn't work out at all because of my back pain, and instead had a week long pity party filled with carbs and sweets.  I have a chiropractor appointment today with a guy who specializes in prenatal manipulation--prayers and fingers crossed it takes away the pain!

3: What are your goals for the week ahead?  Lord willing this appointment helps: I'll be back to running to train for my 10k.

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little!  And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
I feel like I've gotten enough indulgence in the past week... so I'm gonna ifnore this question this week.

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? as you can probably tell-I'm just really frustrated with my situation. I've been doing such a great job so far and I don't want to stop yet! I know one week of rest isn't a big deal, I want to move on and get better instead of having to stop working out all pregnancy if this pain sticks around.

6: GTKY: what's your favorite season? And why?
summer!! ((But not this summer-pregnancy and heat don't go well)) I love the hot weather, laying out in the sun, ice coffees, beach days, shorts, sun glasses, warm summer nights, campfires, and longer days!

  • Oh no @kjd291 I'm so sorry to hear your back is still giving you so much trouble! I hope your appointment brings you some relief! Keep us posted! I feel for you lady -- when I was down and out with the m/s it was so frustrating not being able to get out and do what I wanted. It quite simply sucks when your body limits you. But you've been doing the right thing resting to not make it worse. Really hoping you can do your 10K and get back out there very soon!
  • 1:How far along are you!?
    12w6d

2: How was your last week?
Better than most have been! I'm having to have way more good days than sick days and the m/s seems to be moving out for good (knock on wood!) I worked out 2x at the gym at work, and did one crossfit workout at home. I've had a lot more energy and basically feel like myself again. So relieved.

3: What are your goals for the week ahead?
Since I'm feeling better I'd like to increase my workouts to 4 days - especially because working out at lunch is so convenient now. Here's my tentative plan:
Monday: working at home today so I'll go to crossfit
    Tuesday: rest
    Wednesday: cardio and strength (squats)
Thursday: cardio and strength (arms), maybe some core work with med ball
Friday: crossfit or rest (depending on the WOD)
Saturday: crossfit or rest (depending on the WOD)
    Sunday rest

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little!  And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
Not sure yet but I'm sure I will think of something!

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms?
I just have to say again how glad I am to feel better. The morning sickness was so rough for me and it was very frustrating not being able to workout for so long.

6: GTKY: what's your favorite season? And why?
Summer! We can walk to our beach and although I love this summer community in all seasons (especially when the tourists are gone!) summer is my favorite. I love eating on the deck, sitting with friends at the beach, swimming, boating, and looking forward to this little bean learning to love the ocean and the water as much as we do.
  • 1. How far along are you? 14W2D

    2. How was your last week? It was mostly good. Had a visitor in town, and while I only got in 3 of my hopeful 4 workouts, I was able to hit at least 10k steps a day if not more. So I was definitely still moving every day.

    3. What are your goals for the week ahead? I'm going to be light on myself this week since I'm travelling on Wednesday to go home. it'll likely be...
Monday - 10k steps through walking around for work/random stuff
    Tuesday - the same
Wednesday - Hope to get 10k steps from walking around three airports, ha ha
    Thursday - Relax
Friday - Get a walk in with my mom
Saturday - Get a walk in with my mom
Sunday - try to visit my mom's gym

    4. How are you going to treat yourself this week?
I'm going to go shopping for maternity clothes while I'm home visiting, then my mom and I are getting pedis :)

5: GTKY Fav season: Definitely late spring, the weather is nice, there's no bugs yet, it's cheap to travel, and when you do travel, there's not many other tourists around

2: How was your last week? The best I've had so far! I was able to finally get 3 CF workouts in and also a bike ride.

3: What are your goals for the week ahead?  3 CrossFit workouts and a walk or bike ride with hubby hopefully.

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little!  And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
Going to try to schedule a massage that I've been wanting for a while now!

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Just happy to be feeling somewhat normal again and able to do more activities. I still get tired out but no where near that awfulness of the early weeks.

6: GTKY: what's your favorite season? And why?
Summer but not this year because of the heat wave that seemed to hit as soon as I found out that I was pregnant. At least it was a good excuse to hibernate!

  • I am so determined to be a part of this weekly check-in! It is killing me to be this lazy. While I didn't have a productive last week I will hold myself accountable with this group this week!

    1. 14 weeks 3 days
    2. Took the dog for a few short walks. Energy just plummeted again over the weekend.
    3. 3 home workouts - including resistance bands, bodyweight exercises and longer walks!
    4. Invest in some maternity clothing I hope!
    5. Wish my knee would cooperate (old injury). I just want to be able to squat and climb stairs normally!!
    6. Fall!! Perfect temperatures, cozy clothing and my birthday :)
  • @jenny0228  thanks :* it's so nice to have other moms to vent to that understand the frustration of not being able to work out!  Hope this week energy stays around for you!

my appointment went well, no miracle pop and go--still sore, but the doc was hopeful that I'll be able to run without pain soon since I came to him sooner than later for help. He knew right away what was wrong from looking at me: My hip joint is inflamed, which is stiffening up my entire back, so he's doing some things to help relieve it.  Going back Wednesday and Friday for more hands on work.  My goal now is to attempt a run Thursday night after one more time visiting him.  Fingers crossed!
  • So happy to be able to join you!   Very jealous that you are still doing CF @sarahbobby & @jenny0228  I have been told not CF for me by DH and the OB :(  I miss it so much!  We bought a Peloton spin bike for home so I have that to use.

1:How far along are you!?  12+6!  Bring on second tri

2: How was your last week?
I was just cleared to resume exercise after docs being super cautious with me because of my history.

3: What are your goals for the week ahead?  Eat more frequent small meals.  More salads :)
Monday: 20 minute spin - Completed
Tuesday:  20 minute spin + 15 minutes of some basic body weight strength training
    Wednesday:  Rest
Thursday:  30 Minute spin (i'm trying to ease back in to workouts :))
Friday: 30 minute spin + 15 minutes of strength
    Saturday: 30 minute spin
Sunday:  Walk or rest depending on weather

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little!  And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
I will likely eat an ice cream sandwich or two & get a sandwich with chips when I am in the office for lunch.

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms?   I just need to pace myself after not being able to workout for so long.  I was watching my HR like a hawk during my ride today to see how I would respond.  It was pretty high but I only felt slightly winded at one point and dialed back.

6: GTKY: what's your favorite season? And why?
I love the fall.  I can't wait for the crisp air, changing leaves, hoodies, Halloween, Thanksgiving and cozying up by the fire.

  • Checking in... Just finished my first workout in 10 days! (HIIT) Holy crap I feel like I've lost so much in my time off. But feeling great now. I'm so determined to keep up with this through week 40!
  • Hi my Fit Momma Friends! It's so good to *see* you all! Here's to a new week!!

    1:How far along are you!?  15w + 4 d

2: How was your last week? Miserable!
I'm with @kjd291 !! Also suffering from really bad lower back pain (today makes 13 days, but who's counting!) I emailed my OB/GYN on Friday to get her OK to see a chiropractor, but haven't received a response yet. I'm feeling a little better today, I think it's because I had the weekend off from work so wasn't sitting at a desk. I only worked out 1 day last week, and it was a very lame workout. Food was not too bad, but overall, I was down on myself for not being able to go to the gym :(

3: What are your goals for the week ahead?  I've decided to go back to the gym this week, despite the back pain still hanging around. Even if it's for some light weights, walking, stretching, ANYTHING! I was planning on going back today, however I had an emergency with my bulldog and had to take her to the Vets unexpectedly where I was all morning (and was 20min late to work). She was lame in her front paw and I found a huge lump under her paw bed. The Vet was originally concerned, he wanted to send cells to the lab for further testing (I think he's being extra cautious because my last bulldog died from a fast moving cancer), but when he pulled the cells the lump started to bleed and pus and the swelling went way down. She's now walking around and putting weight on her paw again. THANK GOD! So we think it was just an abscess. Anyhow, back to my plans for this week, honestly, just getting my foot in the gym door at least 4x this week, that's my goal!

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little!  And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
Well, last week I got a mani/pedi and my eyebrows threaded, and this week I get my eyelash extensions filled ;)

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? None at the moment. Just really looking forward to my parents moving to CA in November!!!!!!

6: GTKY: what's your favorite season? And why?
Now that I live in SoCal.... "seasons? what are those??" LOL... back East I used to say that Spring was my favorite because the weather was warming up, all the beautiful flowers were springing up, and it was my birthday (May baby here!), but truth be told, I love SUMMER!!! I love spending hours and hours at the beach reading and working on my tan. That's the truth.

@MrsBinPA you have the same EDD as @jenny0228 and me!!  :)
@kjd291 so glad your appt went well & things sound hopeful! hope your next appts go well too!
@jenny0228 so glad you're feeling better!

1:How far along are you!?  12w6d

2: How was your last week?
started out eh, but got progressively better...the last couple days I've felt like my energy has returned so I'm grateful for that! I got 4 workouts in, which I didn't think I'd be able to do at first.

3: What are your goals for the week ahead?  work out 4x, eat better/cut back on the sugary foods

4: How are you going to treat yo self this week? Indulge a little!  And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
ok so I cleaned my house today for the first time in too long and walking in the door tonight after getting home from class felt like I was treating myself - I LOVE having a clean home! I haven't had the energy or the time the last couple weeks between work & school to get things tidied up nicely, but I'm so glad I finally was able to do it - hopefully it can stay this way for at least a week haha

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I'm still waiting to hear back from my doctor about my NIPT results....should be any day now - I'm not as nervous as I was after my last appt. when they told me there could be something wrong but I'm getting more impatient & just hope they call soon...

6: GTKY: what's your favorite season? And why?
FALL! no contest here, although I love parts of each season and feel blessed to live in an area where we get to experience all of them (although truthfully I could do without winter). I love the leaves, wearing boots & fall clothes, the weather, honeycrisp apples, carving pumpkins...Fall is just awesome.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Hey there my CrossFit Mommas!!
Have you heard of the website WoD at Home? They have a pregnancy section with WoDs for every day of the pregnancy. It's subscription based. $17.95 every 3 months. I signed up for it. This is my workout for tomorrow....
  • @triwellnessgirl thanks for the tip!! That looks awesome! What are you crossfit ladies doing for burpees and sit ups these days? I have been doing sort of a burpee where I just get down into a plank then hop my feet in, then stand up. For sit-ups they are getting uncomfortable and I feel like I'm squishing little bean, so I have been hanging from the pull-up bar and raising my knees to my chest.

How is everyone doing so far this week? I did my Monday crossfit workout, just took it slow and loved it!

Today I plan some cardio at the gym at work, yesterday I rested. I had a rather disappointing dr appt yesterday - I have been waiting for the results of my Harmony test and they are a week late and still not in! I just want to know!! I had NT scan though and everything looked OK to the ultrasound tech.
  • Hey @jenny0228 !! I do my burpees as you described and today substituted sit-ups with MedBall Slams! Also, sorry to hear you haven't gotten those results yet. I'm sure that's really nerve wracking. Hope they come in soon!!! And great job with your workouts this week!!!

I had a great workout this morning that included a nice warmup followed by Push Press sets, 5-5-5-3-1, kept it real light at a 70lb max... Back gets aggravated when I clean the bar and then when I place it back down. I then did the WoD I posted last night, followed by a 2mi run. Felt good!!

Here's my recap pic that I shared with my friends who are following my journey on social media!
  • @mrsbinpa I'm sorry that you aren't allowed to CF. If it makes you feel any better my movements have been super modified and my weights are really light. My coach know about my loss history and being high risk so he is really cautious. Which I really appreciate but it's so much less than I am use to doing.

@triwellnessgirl that's awesome! Thank you for the info!

@jenny0228 I gave up on my crunches a while ago but I mostly do plank rocks when we will anything with ab mat situps. I hope you get your results soon!

    How's everyone's Thursday?

2 chiropractor appts & a week of rest : I'm feeling better but still not great. Trying a light short jog tonight to see how my hip fares during and after - hoping it doesn't make it worse. Another appointment in the AM and if it's feeling worse: I'll ask if there is anything else I can do to just get me through next weekends race.

ETA: Its not looking good. I think I just need to accept that I won't be running my race. now my prayer is that I won't be discouraged from this fit pregnancy journey now that I can't do my usual high impact high intensity exercises.
  • Sorry to hear this @kjd291. There's still time for your issue to get sorted especially since you're getting treatment. It's super frustrating though! But you're motivated, so I'm sure you'll find other ways to stay fit! Sorry about your race- but there will be others!!! If you can train for a 10k pregnant- you will ace one after baby!

Running has been really uncomfortable for me still- I can do short slow jogs as part of CF workouts but I tried doing a treadmill run this week and didn't even make 1 mile! Its disappointing but I just get my cardio other ways. Nothing beats a nice long sweaty run though- I can't wait to get back to it!

This week for me has been ok so far- had a weird night of puking yesterday but I am hoping that is the FINAL relapse! Planning an at home CF session today for my third workout of the week, and some sort of cardio for tomorrow.

  • Oh man, @kjd291 , I'm sorry to hear that! I have a feeling, though, you'll still find activities to keep yourself fit through this pregnancy. You're a fighter! You got this! And we're here to support you and cheer you on!

How is everyone's weekend looking? I work both today and tomorrow so I don't anticipate getting a workout in. I went yesterday and got my 3rd workout in for the week. I did a CrossFit class, followed by 16min of HIITs on the treadmill. Felt pretty good, although my back bothers me still when I clean the bar, and then drop the weight. The WoD had 45 Thrusters; I kept the weight at 55lbs. Shocking how heavy 55lbs felt to me, though!

Also, last night I had a terrible dream that I started bleeding :( That's how my past 2 miscarriages have started so it totally freaked me out. I was so relieved when I woke up and ran to the bathroom and discovered it really was just a bad dream. I then pulled out our fetal doppler and had a little bit of trouble at first getting the baby's heartbeat, but then heard it VERY LOUD AND STRONG. It was pulsing through the speaker!! LOL. What a relief!!!!!
