Shoe Suggestions for Fat Baby Feet?

Poor thing got her daddy's feet! (Except for hers are much cuter!) Lol :D As far as I can tell she still wears a size 3 or 4 in infants sizes but I can't find any that are wide enough for her. She's only had 1 pair of shoes that she could actually wear and those were dress sandals, size 1. And with it going to be getting cooler soon she has to get some that are closed toe. And plus she's trying to walk now too so I'm trying to find some that will help out with that also. Any advice is appreciated!!  :)

My daughter has these shoes and the fit her very well. The part with the little "shoe lace holes" are velcro so you can adjust the fit

  • My DD has "see Kai run" smaller shoes, they fit her chubby little feet and they're real leather so they're nice and flexible

My oldest has huge, wide feet, and we've found that sketchers run wider than most other tennis shoes.
  • We always had the best luck with stride rite
  • Stride Rite makes a wide. I just got a pair for little man on clearance. I'd take her and get her sized. Clarks also makes a wide.

  • I also suggest stride rite. We have several pairs (and target has a stride rite brand called "surprize" I believe, I got a pair on clearance and they seem to be made wider) and he does really well walking in them, too

  • @chelseajeanene How cute! We did try on a pair of black (boys) converse for her and they fit really good but were like $30 and it just seemed so ridiculous to pay so much for something that she'll grow out of in 2 months. But if it's what we have to do then thats what we'll do

Ahh, love seeing these little feet in shoes/trainers.

fat feet here too, and very wide.

We originally bought these....however, Jake's feet are to wide for them.

So, we've settled for these instead. Much, much better. He was quite hesitant to walk in them at first, now he stomps around, no problem. Found the Velcro fastenings much easier with wide feet, as you can open the trainer right up. Big feet! Jake's currently a 5x!
Good ankle support too, as their quite high at the back.

  • I'm a big fan of Robeez. Ruffed up leather sole so no slips for walkers, but the while shoe is super soft/bendy so they can still grip with their feet. They are great for LOs chubby little feet and super easy to walk in. Plus you can get some styles for under $20!
  • I highly recommend Stride Rite. They are a little pricey in my opinion ($40-$50 for baby shoes, ah!), but so worth it. We got DS sized and he came out to a 4 exactly so they recommended us buying a 4.5 for growing room. Also, they do sell wide shoes. The issue with my LO's feet wasn't fatness width wise, but fatness height wise. The woman at the store told us it's probably due to high arches. It made finding shoes anywhere else impossible. I was about ready to give up and just let him be barefoot for the time being when we walked past Stride Rite at the mall. We'll definitely be going back. Also their shoes are developed to go with baby's foot development and they have different stage shoes. Love it!!
  • My LO was gifted the brand Pediped brand. So cute, and stylish! I have tried converse brand and his foot just wouldn't go in them! LOL They are 40-50$ but so easy and supportive it's worth it! I'm about to order a new, bigger size. If you have a daughter, they have the best colors and styles.
  • I finally bought my first pair of Stride Rite wide shoes for LO a week ago and they are amazing.  We were given some hand-me-down Stride Rites but they aren't wide, so they dint fit well.

I had also seen somewhere that Payless had wide baby shoes as well.  Bought my daughter a pair of 4 wide Champion tennis shoes from there.  She seems to like them and, with a coupon I had, got them for $14!
  • I bought a pair of mocks. They expand at the sides as well making them ideal for wide feet. I was all about vans or converse and did some research and found you want something as close to bare feet as possible. Think soft and bendy soles. It's more about the muscles and ligaments still forming in their feet. I read a lot on it because I so desperately wanted to get a pair of pink chucks and was looking for anything to disprove that they're not good for their feet lol.
  • Agree with the stride rites. I was starting to feel like a bad mom because he didn't have any shoes that fit him. I finally broke down and bought 2 pair of wide stride rites on younkers website. 1 pair fits awesome and is very flexible and the other is too narrow and will be taking back. So you may need to try on a few. With coupon code online it ended up being $30 per pair.
  • DD just got her first pair of Stride Rites today. I actually was able to get them used for 10.00 and they look brand new. Technically, they're boys shoes, but girls shoes just don't seem to be made very well in comparison. Before this, she had a pair of Koala Kids soft sole shoes (also boys) that were velcro and opened up so it was easy to get them on her feet. I think she has high arches too. Either that or she likes to curl her toes under so she shoes won't go on.

I've heard the same thing about letting them be barefoot or having soft soles to develop their balance and foot/ankle strength too. As a dancer, I don't wear shoes in the house or yard that have support for this reason.
  • Another vote for Stride Rite's! Our LO has chunky feet too (and parents with wide feet), so he ended up in a 5.5 wide-width shoe. Love the shoes and selection - the soles are flexible enough to easily bend as they walk but not so flimsy there's no support, and the insides are memory foam for comfort. LO loves them and was so happy to be able to walk through the mall all by himself afterward now that he has shoes! (Of course, he refused to let us carry him and threw a fit if we tried, so it took a long time to get out the door at his pace! Lol.)
