Just got back from my first appointment. The doctor is having me come back for an ultrasound in another week or two for my own sanity (PGAL) Otherwise I wouldn't get one until the anatomy scan, so I look forward to seeing the little babe!
I have an appointment tomorrow @ 8w1d! I'm excited but nervous! They're going to confirm a possible twin that they saw at 6w5d (it was another yolk sac, no baby though). I can't wait to see how things are progressing and to see our little bean and i'm sure we'll be able to hear the heartbeat!
What makes me nervous is that I passed a small blood clot last Tuesday. I've had no other bleeding since other than some brown spotting here and there that my dr wasn't concerned about, but it was nerve racking and I still have anxiety every time I go to the bathroom.
Midwife appointment on Thursday. No ultrasound, but hopefully we'll hear the heartbeat and my midwife might be able to guess at whether my placenta is anterior again (hopefully not). I feel your pain on the rescheduled appointment!
Appointment on Thursday morning. I feel like time is at a standstill! I will feel a world of relief when I see both hearts beating! I think we may even take DD with us so she can see it herself, she 3.5. Does anyone think this is a bad idea?
@mama5181 I debated taking DS to this next appt. He is 4, but I will only be 7w4d tmrw and had a previous MC at 6 weeks. So I decided against it. I would want to make sure that everything is ok and not expose him to any heartache. But, I am going to take him to my gender ultrasound.
I'm going to ease my way back to the board. I do find that I need to check myself sometimes, so I am going to limit my time on here. But, I am happy to come back and hear how all of you are doing.
I had my first appointment today. I decided to go with a group of midwives this time around. So, for the first appointment they have you meet with a nurse 1st, the same one I had talked with on the phone. And then you meet with a midwife. They don't automatically do a 1st trimester ultrasound, but the nurse asked over the phone last week if I felt like I really wanted one for some reason. I told her that after my early loss this summer it would ease a lot of anxiety for myself and my husband. She said that they almost always do an ultrasound if the mom really wants one. So, I ended up having my ultrasound right before my appointment, in the OB-GYN office next door. DH took off work for this first appointment just in case things weren't going well and I needed him there.
I was soooooooooo nervous as the ultrasound started. But as soon as she turned the machine on I saw the baby. I didn't see it moving or anything right away though. But, once she got it a little focused I saw the heart fluttering away and realized I had been so tense. Then baby's little feet started kicking around. He/she was kind of hugging their umbilical cord. It was cute. According to LMP I was 10w2d. But, according to my own charting I knew I was 9w3d. I measured perfectly at 9w3d. I cheered a little and the ultrasound tech that I was crazy.
So then I met with the nurse for about an hour and she told me they would leave my gestation at 10w2d. It didn't really bother me that much, I just didn't want it to mess up anything at the end. I didn't want to feel any pressure to induce a week before I should have been. So, I talked to the midwife about it. I guess after 9 weeks there need to be a 7 day difference to change dates. Mine was a 6 day difference. It used to be 5 days and they just changed it. I explained that I knew exactly when I ovulated and told her what my normal cycles are like and she agreed we should change it. She didn't seem to be a fan of the new rule. Other than that, everything went normally. I love how the midwife practice feels. It really fits my personality and how I feel about everything pregnancy and birth related. She did a pap since I was due for one next month anyway. She let me hold a mirror and showed me my cervix and then asked DH if he wanted to see as well. I was really surprised when he said he did actually want to see. So, she pointed things out to him as well. I thought that was kind of cool. And I was supposed to come in in 4 weeks. But, she said in 3 weeks they would start checking for the heartbeat and so she told me I could schedule my appointment for 3 weeks so that I could hear the heartbeat. She was just really cool.
Sorry for the novel, but I have been gone for a few weeks and apparently needed to get all that out.

@mrsstuessy So glad to see you back and that your appt went so well! I'm glad the midwife office really seems to work for you and that you got to have an ultrasound!
I had my first appointment today! Finally! It went well overall. The midwife couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler (not unusual at 10 weeks), so she did a quick ultrasound. Buuuuut, the settings on the machine were incorrect initially, so she thought I was 3 weeks behind, wanted to get me in for an official dating scan yada yada yada, and I'm all worried because I was tracking my cycle (temps, OPKs, the works) and know that I'm 10 weeks. Thankfully, she did then notice that the settings were off, we tried again, and baby measured correctly! Thank goodness.
@mrsstuessy So glad to see you back here! I understand your need to step away and hope you join us for as much as makes you happy. Also glad for the good appointment!

I was just able to schedule my first ultrasound for tomorrow afternoon. I am sure that time will move super slow until then. I am praying that there is a heartbeat and all looks good.
@Mama5181 I would love to bring my toddler once we see everything is ok! Good to see you back here, @mrsstuessy I have my NT scan on Friday. All was fine with my first pregnancy, but for some reason this time I'm really nervous. I think after seeing a few devastating nt scans on other boards. Fingers crossed.
Appointment tomorrow! Hoping to hear the heartbeat. Usually, my OB does an initial 8w appointment, followed by 12w. This time, I went in at 6w, so I will be just about 10w. I am not entirely sure if she'll try for the HB given that it's a little early...but I have my fingers crossed!
@ebloom3 good luck today! I heard DS's heartbeat on the doppler when I was between 10 and 11 weeks, but the doctor did warn me that she might not be able to find it. Fingers crossed for you!
Didn't check for a heartbeat today. She said because I'm not quite 10 weeks she prefers to wait until 12. I got back at 13w6d, so I know she'll do one then. I just hate waiting in suspense!
I was estimated to be 10 weeks but after today's ultrasound appointment turns out I'm more likely 8 weeks 3 days along. They got peeved that my bladder was basically empty after having followed the instructions. Turns out I'm probably horribly dehydrated and need to up my water game. I got to hear little darlings heart beat though so it went well.
Today was our first ultrasound and we saw our little peanut! Great heart beat and all looks good. I'll find out the sex next week with blood work for screen tests. So excited!
Went to my first midwife appointment today! Heard a nice strong heartbeat and chatted for a good hour. Took all my paperwork home to complete at my leisure and my homework is calling insurance to see what labs I can get them to cover. DS had a grand old time. He got to play with toys, feed koi, eat organic animal crackers, and he even got a balloon.
Had my 12 week ultrasound and NT scan today. Measuring about 2 inches. Everything looked good according to the tech and the doctor. The tech said she thinks it's a girl, but I got the Harmony test done today so I should know for sure in about a week.

Had my first appointment this week. We weren't really sure how far along I was since I was just estimating based off of LMP and my cycles have been super irregular since DS was born (I'm talking like, 18 days one cycle and 40 the next). I was using OPKs to test for ovulation but got a positive while DH was out of town, and we DTD 4 days before and 4 days after, so I figured we'd missed it, so I was REALLY confused about how far along I was. OB checked for the heartbeat with doppler but couldn't see it, so she sent me to get an US down. Saw the little bean wiggling around with a good HB, measuring right on track with the EDD from my LMP. So relieved to know when I should actually be due and that everything is looking good down there! I've had very few symptoms and this pregnancy has been completely different from my one with DS that it was making me paranoid.
Hurray, @catem07 and for the other happy appointments. NT scan looked good here as well. Very wriggly (perhaps slightly boyish looking?) little creature.
@catem07, just out of curiosity - could the tech actually see well enough to guess boy or girl? Or was that just their gut instinct? Our techs are usually pretty strict about not telling us anything. They send the results to the doctor and you have to wait until your next OB appointment to find out. So I'm just curious! It seems so early for them to be able to tell on an US.
She said she saw these two lines or something which indicate a girl, and she didn't see something sticking up. She did say that she wasn't sure though--and she knew I would find out for sure in a week. I only told DH about the guess, not anyone else (IRL). I was surprised that she offered a guess so early, and she did ask before sharing anything.
