Ticker Trouble

I still can not get a ticker to work! I go into the preferences and all that, copy and paste the URL into the image icon and it comes up as a picture that can't show, you know the little black box with an X? Its getting frustrating. Any tips or suggestions?  I am not very computer savvy but I just want a ticker like everyone else...
