I am new to the bump so I figured I would post and get some (hopefully) reassuring news! My wife and I want nothing more than to bring a baby into this world! I will carry and the testing started in December. A lot of labs, HSG, and ultrasounds later we were told I don't have anything wrong (YAY!). They found I was hypothyroid but since starting medication that is no longer an issue.
Anyways, we found a sperm bank..and then donor after many weeks of searching and narrowing it down. Bought three vials and shipped them to our fertility clinic. We have done two IUI's with my natural cycle and had no success.
It it is so frustrating because with each negative you do more research to try to determine why. I am a healthy 25 year old female--"in my prime" according to the docs, yet still not pregnant. They told us that IUI will usually work in three rounds with no fertility problems so with this IUI coming up in a few days--the pressure is ON!
After the second negative I asked about clomid or ANYTHING to increase our chances and the doc said not yet! Just had an ultrasound today and I have a maturing follicle and will do another US Sunday, if all looks okay will use ovidrel and inseminate Monday.
I am really hoping this one works because I am ALREADY emotionally exhausted, not to mention we will be out of sperm. I guess I am hoping to hear some positive things from the group: anyone have IUI success without clomid?! Perhaps on the third try?!
Best at wishes to all! I hope we all chat in the pregnancy boards soon!

That said, IUI can take a long time for some and next to none for others. I know some ladies here are also undergoing such procedures. DH and I have to use a donor as result of his condition, but even still we found out I have PCOS and struggled to ovulate. Even with meds IUI wasn't working for me, but others have had success from the extra monitoring and nominal intervention.
I recommend reading the newbie intro thread, infertility/testing thread and WTO thread. You'll get great input there.
FYI - reach out to your insurance about coverage for sperm vials. We were able to get a % back from our insurance, but it also depends on your state and plan.
and wish you the best of luck and hope this is your cycle.

Unfortunately, our insurance doesn't cover anything because we are same sex (unless we have 12 failed IUIs then they will help with in vitro).
I can't wait to dive into all of these boards! Everyone seems so friendly
I did 3 IUIs with Clomid and unfortunately none of them worked for me. I had really bad side effects with Clomid so I refused to take it again after the third time. many women do get pregnant from IUI or Clomid + IUI.
I just finished my fourth failed Letrozole and IUI cycle and will be moving onto injectables. The emotional toll is excruciating, and I'm sorry anyone has to go through it. This community is extremely supportive and I couldn't ask for better support and advice. I hope your stay here isn't long, but in the mean time join us!

LadyMillill--I am truly sorry that you suffered from side effects with no success! Hopefully there is something else that works for you
laurad75--Hopefully we can be success stories for each other!
mrsdaddario-- I feel that with each BFN the response is multiplied; my heart goes to all of those who experience it as well. Fingers crossed that injectables work for you.
welcome! I just had my first IUI last weekend. I was supposed to use letrozole (had 3 cycles with meds and times intercourse course prior) but a suspected cyst at my baseline ultrasound made the RE nearly cancel the who cycle. After talking with her we decided to continue on and if developed a mature follicle on my own and all my bloodwork came back with the numbers they wanted to see, we would proceed with the Trigger shot, IUI, and then progesterone. The stars aligned and we got there.
The bottom line is that the meds may always not gurantee you more follicles/ better odds. In my case I think it was the letrozole that started the cyst. If you don't need the follicle stimulating meds, might be best to avoid them.
Also worth noting, I have read somewhere that for women without any ovulation disorders, follicle stimulating meds don't do much to increase your chances. Take that with a grain of salt and do your own research of course because it's early in be morning and this is based purely on my memory lol. Each time I took letrozole, I still had only 1 follicle. And this past cycle, only one follicle. I am M curious as to nwhat the benefit is for me when I still ovulate on my own.
Best at of luck with everything! And you are welcome to stick around here! Several of us still participate in the daily WTO/TWW threads and are doing IUIs
**TW in siggy**
I just wanted to echo what @furbabymom2007 said about avoiding the follicle stimulating medications, if you can. It sounds like you don't need them. I had a Letrozole + IUI cycle in July, which **TW** worked and I got my BFP. **end TW**
However, I ended up in the hospital with a ruptured hemorrhagic cyst and had to undergo emergency surgery to remove the mass that was left over. It was the size of a tennis ball. Now, I needed those medications because I don't ovulate on my own as I was diagnosed with PCOS. If you've been labeled "healthy" by your doctor, with no underlying issues, I highly recommend avoiding the meds, if you can.
I wish you and your partner the very best. I would recommend connecting with the ladies on the IF board, simply because many of them can better answer your questions about IUIs and other options. But I also hope you decide to stay here. I made many amazing connections on this board and consider many of the ladies I connected with to be friends, not "internet strangers." And sometimes they were the only thing that kept me going.
Looks like I was asking about drugs because I had a feeling or something.
At my repeat US they found that follicles were not growing, drew labs..and that too showed nothing was happening. So they started me on clomid on CD 18--yikes. But I suppose chemically it's like CD 5 or something of that sort. No idea what to think now. Just hoping for good news on a Monday on yet another US. COME ON FOLLIES GROW!!
