  • @jenny0228 Holy Cow! That's an early morning and quite the commute! I don't blame you for doing gym near work at lunch instead of evening cross fit! Saturday's sound like they'd work better.  Fingers crossed for the ms to go away completely soon!!
  • 1:How far along are you!?  13w 3days

2: How was your last week?
I got two workouts in last week at the gym before I had my scare and ended up in the ER. My doctor has restricted me from any workouts until my next appointment. Not used to not doing anything. Its making me feel sluggish and more tired than usual. Just glad the bleeding and cramping has stopped and baby is doing great.

3: What are your goals for the week ahead? To get out for a light walk everyday since that's all my OB will allow me to do for now.

4: Do you have any long term fit pregnancy goals you'd like to share? I would like to stay under a 30 lb. weight gain this pregnancy and try to maintain my muscle throughout this pregnancy.

5: (If at all yet) How are you modifying your fitness for your pregnant body? Not lifting anything over 10 lbs per my doctor's orders and no more intense cardio or lifting.

6: How are you going to treat yo self this week? And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
I might treat myself to a new eyeshadow pallete or lipgloss. I am a makeup junkie.

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I had my NT scan this morning and baby was waving at us. So happy that my baby is doing well.

8: GTKY:  What are your biggest pet peeves?
People who post nothing but junk all day on social media or "diary" like entries as their status updates.
  • @loveyoga7 I'm so glad you got to check in today and baby is doing well!  I can only imagine how hard it is to stop working out hard suddenly when it's what you're used to!  When is your next appt?? Fingers crossed you'll be able to bump activity up a little bit after that, but some nice long walks are definitely a good alternative!

Thank you @kjd291, my next appointment is this Friday. Fingers crossed that my doctor clears me to exercise again.
  • 1:How far along are you!?  12+1

2: How was your last week? Sooo much better than the week before!  MS finally disappeared so I've been trying to make up for lost time and all the comfort food I ate while I felt like death. Plus this baby makes me feel antsy so I find myself taking long walks just to calm down.  Thank goodness for working from home!

3: What are your goals for the week ahead? Walk every day (I've got a 3 mile loop through a park close to my house that I love) and do my 21DFX 3 days this week

4: Do you have any long term fit pregnancy goals you'd like to share? I want to keep the weight gain between 25-30 lbs and tone up physically.  I'm going to do my best to have a medication free labor and I feel like the better physical shape I'm in the more prepared I'll be for it.  Such a looooong way to go!  lol

5: (If at all yet) How are you modifying your fitness for your pregnant body? I've been doing very little core work.  I know it's silly and not even true but working abs makes me nervous.  I'm also avoiding workouts that involve being on one foot because my balance is off.

6: How are you going to treat yo self this week? And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
My morning outside walks feel like such a gift to myself right now!  I listen to podcasts that make me happy first thing in the morning and really start myself off on the right foot.

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I'm not really a veggie eater and have had the hardest time getting everything I'm supposed to eat in a day down!  Anybody else failing the good food choices test?

8: GTKY:  What are your biggest pet peeves?
People that don't say what they mean!  Saying "oh wow, wonder how xyz...?" when what you means is "this bothers me, why did this happen" drives me bonkers.  Just say what you mean!

  • 1:How far along are you!?  13 weeks 3 days

2: How was your last week? Not too bad. I hit the gym 4 times... But during the week I got hit hard by tiredness. Still went to the gym one of those days, but just did a light weights session instead of full weights and cardio. Didn't hit 10k steps everyday, but hit it 5 of the days. Also, I ate veggies in every lunch and dinner

3: What are your goals for the week ahead? I would like to do 4 days in the gym again this week, because next week I'm flying home and I know with jet lag I'm likely not going to get any workouts in.

4: Do you have any long term fit pregnancy goals you'd like to share?really, I'd like to stay in the 25-30lb weight range overall and lose as little muscle as possible. Although, I'm a bit worried about that now that I'm eating carbs more again.

5: (If at all yet) How are you modifying your fitness for your pregnant body? Weights have been decreased, and I'm no longer doing any exercises that require lying on my back or stomach. Going to try to put my weights back up a bit though now that my energy is returning.

6: How are you going to treat yo self this week? And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
Going to  brunch with my girlfriends on Saturday and we're going to get our nails done too

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I have been reallt struggling with not eating (what I think) is too many carbs. I previously ate a fairly paleo diet, and it suited me well. However, I feel like since getting pregnant, ALL I want are carbs. I'm still eating loads of veggies, and picking healthier carb options, but I'm struggling with whether or not to just give in and try to keep balance, or try to go back to how I was eating before.

8: GTKY:  What are your biggest pet peeves?
My biggest pet peeve right now (totally pregnancy related) is being asked "how are you feeling today?" I know that it's coming from a good place, and I feel like I'm almost being prompted to say something negative, so I've been trying to make it point to only respond with positive answers.

  • 1:How far along are you!? Tomorrow will be 12 weeks

2: How was your last week?
Definitely not my best - worked out 4 times and ate more unhealthy things than I should have...

3: What are your goals for the week ahead? Eat better by cutting back on the junk food, drink more water, work out 4x, and try not to stress over my upcoming NIPT results.

4: Do you have any long term fit pregnancy goals you'd like to share? At the beginning I hoped I'd be one of those fit pregnant moms who gained just the minimum amount of weight all in the belly. I feel like I'm already falling short of my expectations and feel like I've gained more than I should have by this point. I'd still like to stay as active as possible for as long as I can, but I'm not as concerned with the amount of weight I put on now and would be ok if I end up gaining 40+ lb vs the 25 I initially had in mind. (well honestly I wouldn't be 100% ok with it, but I won't beat myself up over it if I do)

5: (If at all yet) How are you modifying your fitness for your pregnant body? Cut back on the running, both frequency and distance - I don't go more than 5k now even though I know it's perfectly ok to go longer I just don't want to push myself too much anymore.

6: How are you going to treat yo self this week? And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
So we still have 2/3 of our little anniversary cake left and I know I just said I'd eat better this week, buttttttttt.....it's delicious. So I may or may not have much luck in sticking to that goal.

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I need more hours in my days.

8: GTKY:  What are your biggest pet peeves?
Traffic. Dealing with mean/angry customers. Technology that doesn't work when it should. When things that should be recycled aren't.

  • @serenity13 the weight expectations are so hard!! It's100% true that every body is very different and sometimes it doesn't even matter what you do-your body will gain what it needs to for your baby.  I gained 40lbs with my DD even though i ate obnoxiously healthy and worked out like a crazy lady every stinkin day.  Its the same with the wanting to only gain belly desire---no matter what you do your body can choose to retain water or far and get bigger in places you don't want it to.  My NOSE almost doubled in width last time around ::tears:: anyway---just trying to say you're doing a good job!! Don't get discouraged! "Fit pregnancy" isn't about the weight gain or any kind of measurable results - it's about trying to maintain some activity to be a healthier happier you for baby, to have a better birth, and to bounce back faster postpartum!

Andddd, anniversary cake sounds delish. No question: id eat it ;)
  • @npaulie try not to have too much carb fear!! I'm sure it just seems like a lot to you since you weren't eating much at all before this! Especially now that you're in the second tri--your body needs the extra calories!  I'd personally say keep enjoying the balance-sounds like you already eat really healthy and are choosing good carb options anyway! ((That's my two cents ;) ))
  • you ladies are all doing great!!

@serenity13 I feel you, I was sitting in a meeting yesterday and one of the women presenting looked about 6 months pregnant. She was one of those people who is so tiny, you can't even tell from behind that she is pregnant. That's what I pictured myself looking like, but I'm so bloated all around my hips and everything right now - I don't quite have the svelte side profile I had pre-pregnancy. I was looking at her and just thinking - my body is just TOTALLY different than that. I won't look like that. I don't want to gain too much weight but I won't be too hard on myself if you can tell that I'm pregnant when looking at my behind. ;)

I managed to get a lunch workout in yesterday and it was GREAT! It broke up the day and I had energy! I feel so much more positive now about my new workout schedule!

Hi Fit Momma Friends! Sorry I've been a little quiet. We just got back from our trip yesterday. It was AWESOME, except that I had excruciating lower back pain for the last day and a half while I was there. No bueno!!

    1:How far along are you!?  14w + 5 d

2: How was your last week?
It was good. I got 3 workouts in, which included 3 CrossFit workouts, but had planned 4 total, oh well. Three is better that none ;) I was doing fine food wise, but then I splurged on cheesecake while at my mother's, and some other things ;) And then yesterday craved burger & fries for lunch and chinese for dinner, oh well!

3: What are your goals for the week ahead? Here are my goals!
    MON: REST
TUES: Cardio + Upper Body Lifting (DONE!)
WED: CrossFit + LiveFit Strength Training
THURS: Cardio + LiveFit Strength Training
FRI: CrossFit + LiveFit Strength Training
SAT: Cardio + LiveFit Strength Traning
    SUN: REST

4: Do you have any long term fit pregnancy goals you'd like to share?
I really want to keep working out a minimum of 4 x week for the duration of my pregnancy, which includes Crossfit and 5k Runs for as long as possible!
I'd like to stick with the 25-30lb weight gain, but we'll see how that goes!

5: (If at all yet) How are you modifying your fitness for your pregnant body?
Going lighter on my weights, taking more rest breaks during my workouts, and running slower miles!

6: How are you going to treat yo self this week? And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
What a great question! Hmmmm.... gotta think about this since (admittedly) I regularly treat myself!

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms?
Any thoughts on how to deal with lower back pain!! Tomorrow makes a week that that I've been dealing with this (only a day and a half of really bad pain though). My Mom rubbed bengay, and as well as Apple Cider Vinegar, which seemed to help a little bit. Is this a pregnancy symptom???
Also, for STM who went back to work full time & breastfed, could you share a little on how you managed that? I'm starting to think about how that work. I only live 3 miles from work, and my parents will be moving in for a while to help with the baby, so I'm thinking I would go home to breastfed, and/or they would drive the baby to me at work but I don't know where I would nurse at work? Something to ask my HR department I guess!
Lastly, who has / will be creating birthing plans? Did you / will you have a doula?

8: GTKY:  What are your biggest pet peeves?
SLUPRING FOOD / DRINKS!!! IT DRIVES ME BONKERS!!
  • @triwellnessgirl welcome back! ... now I want cheesecake!
It can definitely be a pregnancy symptom! Very very common one the farther along. Extra weight & growing bump adding strain, center of balance and posture thrown off, then uterus and baby also start to push on nerves! So fun right? Hahah

I have had this issue this week too! It's gotten pretty bad today. Actually had to skip my run tonight because of it. :( heat bag usually helps me the most. Hoping it'll clear up soon, or I may have to cave and go see a chiropractor for a re-alignment

Yay for fitness. I'll join in.

1:How far along are you!? 12w4d

2: How was your last week? Compared to pre-pregnancy, sad! Only 2 workouts to speak of and a good deal of walking. But much better than weeks 7-10 where I basically atrophied while feeling like I might die.

3: What are your goals for the week ahead? Work out 3x with my trainer, walk the dog the other days.

4: Do you have any long term fit pregnancy goals you'd like to share? I have no idea what to expect, so it's hard to set goals. My only goal is to keep being kind to myself.

5: (If at all yet) How are you modifying your fitness for your pregnant body? More body weight exercises and TRX than heavy lifting these days. I'm still using weights but have gone down a bit. Not doing full sit ups, lower ab work or anything where I might lose balance. I'm short waisted, so already have a small bump which is throwing me off... It was hitting the treadmill bar yesterday!

6: How are you going to treat yo self this week? And celebrate your body and its accomplishments? Thinking of scheduling a first prenatal massage for next weekend at 14w.

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Rave: that we are all still working out! Seriously, I've seen pregnant women at the gym but never realized just what a monumental effort it is.

8: GTKY: What are your biggest pet peeves? People who are habitually late. Not just once or twice, but the type of people you have to lie to about the time of an event to manipulate them into showing up early... And it still doesnt work! Yeah. That.
  • How's everyone's week going so far?

Im down and out for the count. :( My back has only gotten worse. Don't think I'll be working out for the rest of the week.  Just praying some rest will heal it so I can still run this 10k cuz I've been training for 4mo now!
  • aw I'm so sorry @kjd291 I hope your back feels better soon! You're right, rest is probably the best thing right now!
My week isn't so great so far...my energy level has plummeted more than ever and I barely made it through my 2nd workout of the week this morning. I'm getting out of breath so easily too lately - it's embarrassing at work when I'm talking with a customer for a few minutes and then I have to pause and catch my breath & apologize...
Since I'm working all weekend too I don't think my initial goal of 4 workouts this week will happen unless I get some extra energy somehow.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • oh no @kjd291! i'm sorry to hear that! i hope you can still do your race, you were working so hard! good idea to rest though - hopefully that's the magic cure! sending healing vibes~~~~~ !

i am doing ok so far this week - its a busy week at work though so i've only worked out at lunch so far on monday. but today and tomorrow i plan to hit the gym to do some cardio and some weights. and i signed up for crossfit on saturday so i'll get one CF workout in! i seem to have good energy until i get home from work. then i just want to eat, sit around and read for a while, and go to bed. last night i went to bed at 7:30!!!!!

@serenity13 i am super out of breath, too! especially when i talk a lot. it keeps taking me by surprise. i also usually take the stairs from the parking garage to my office, its 7 flights. before i could walk up no problem and hardly be out of breath at the top - now i have to stop at each floor! only a few days till you and i are in our 2nd trimester so hopefully this glorious return of energy awaits us both! :)

Ugh @kjd291 you and I are pregnancy twins, it seems ;)
I too have not been able to do any of my planned workouts this week (except for my lame attempt on Tuesday!) due to my backpain. It's now going on 9 days. It seems to be getting better, but it still really bothers me and I'm concerned to aggravate it further with exercise. I hope we both get some healing and relief very, very soon!!!!!
  • Thanks for the healing vibes! @serenity13 @jenny0228  @tri wellness :) today has been the best day in 5days-i can put weight on my leg without pain-so there's progress.  The issue is forcing myself to continue to rest instead of pushing it as soon as it feels half good. 16days till my race.....but I'm not counting or anything ;)

@triwellnessgirl I'm so sorry we're twinning the back pain!! How is yours doing today?
  • @jenny0228 @serenity13 I'm glad I'm not the only one severely out of breath! On Saturday I walked up 3 flights of stairs in the parking garage after my haircut and was so out of breath! I was out of breath the whole way walking from the stairs to the other side of the garage to my car. It caught me off guard. The same thing happened when I went for a bike ride on Sunday and was going uphill.

I finally reached my goal of 3 CF workouts during the week! This has been my goal for a while but I haven't been able to accomplish it since finding out that I was . I don't feel an energy surge like some people say but I am starting to feel more life myself again.

@babyisthenewblack I laughed at your comment. I've been telling me husband for weeks that "I feel like I'm dying". Finally I don't feel that way anymore!

  • 1:How far along are you!?  16weeks

2: How was your last week?
Decent - but forget about this week!  We'll call it a "recovery week."

5: (If at all yet) How are you modifying your fitness for your pregnant body? Sadly have to cut out anything plank-related including push ups.  My ab wall is not holding up at all and starting to split.

6: How are you going to treat yo self this week? And celebrate your body and its accomplishments?
We have had so many unexpected events happen at home and at work my entire schedule got screwed up so I'm just giving myself a pass.  But this is the first week I've had off since finding out I was pregnant so not too bad.

7: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? This is kind of nerdy, but I've tracked my weight daily through each of my pregnancies, and I am on track to be the exact same weight at 40 weeks as I was the other two times!  And I've never counted calories or anything.  It's crazy how your body just knows what it needs.

8: GTKY:  What are your biggest pet peeves?
MISOPHONIA!!!!!!!!!!! @kjd291 I HAVE IT SO BAD!  No one understands either.  I am always told to "tune things out" as if that were an option.  Sniffling is probably the worst noise in the universe.
  • Hi ladies!  I plan to join you next week!  I've been on rest as a precaution for first tri but the exercise ban hammer has been lifted.  The OB and DH are insistent I not go back to CrossFit so we ordered a Peloton spin bike which gets delivered today!  I'm so excited.  I plan to do that & do some light lifting & body weight exercises.  We have a crossfit set up in our basement.   I will just do
some easy squats, step ups and stuff to keep my muscles engaged.

  • YAY! Welcome @MrsBinPA! Those Peleton bikes are awesome, I know someone who has one and loves it! That's great that you have a crossfit set up in your basement - I also don't plan to go back to my full time crossfit routine but I've been making up workouts I can do at home, I have a bar, plates and a squat rack. Today I did some rounds of running, overhead squats and some lunges with the bar as well as some strict presses and it was great! I just keep all the weights really light or even just use the empty bar sometimes. Exciting that your exercise ban is lifted! Bring on on the sweat!
  • Hi ladies, I am going to come and post here more often. My daughter and I have been doing prenatal yoga a couple of days a week. I walked today for two miles with my sister and even though my back hurts I really am going to try this a few days a week. I need to get back in the pool and start swimming and hopefully once this first tri fatigue wears off I can get up and do it.

  • @MrsBinPA yay for no more exercise ban!! And so exciting about the new bike!! Can't wait to hear how you like it :)
  • Welcome @hisqueen78 & @MrsBinPA it sounds like you both have great fitness plans, that's awesome! :)
I set my alarm 45 min earlier this morning so I was able to get a workout in before work today, yay! Feeling pretty good & haven't been as tired lately so I'm hoping my energy continues to increase!
    How's everyone else's weekend going?

  • @serenity13 nice work!!

im going to be calling chiropractors tomorrow morning as soon as they open to see if anyone can get me in. My back pain has turned into hip and pelvic pain, I really think something's out of alignment instead of a muscle issue.  FX I can get in-and that will solve the problem.
