Its called diastasis recti and its when your ab muscles separate. There are certain exercises you can do that can help it. If its a bad case, surgery is the only solution.
Mommy to twin girls, Ashlyn & Fiona, born at 34 weeks due to vasa previa.
You can tell if you have it by lying flat on your back - kind of do a crunch and feel around in the center of your ab muscles. There shouldn't be any space or separation. If you can fit some fingers in there, you have it.
I had it pretty bad - once I delivered when I would sit up (in crunch) - like getting out of bed - the abs would raise up like two aliens in my gut. ?There was a?noticeable?separation. ?I followed some program I found online and did careful exercises for 5 weeks and now - 8w pp - they are not too bad and I can do normal sit-ups without looking freakish. ?I go to the gym 4x a week and really don't look that bad (IMO) considering I just gave birth to twins!
