How big is baby? A cherry

    Appointments this week? Nope

Symptoms? Had the worst nausea yesterday, finally threw up for the first time this pregnancy.

Rant/Rave/Questions? DS and I are going to the zoo today!

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about fall? Getting all cozy bundled up in layers sipping on a warm cup of coffee.

  • FFS, I've tried to edit that 3 times and it won't fix it. I'll try again later!
  • How far along are you?
    11 weeks
    How big is baby?
    Size of a lime
    Appointments this week?
Not this week - next one is on Monday (the 19th) for first trimester screening/NT ultrasound.
    Symptoms?
Nausea still in full force :( I have lost about 5 lbs so far just from not wanting to eat anything. My doctor isn't worried about it though - she said I am in "survival mode" for now until I get my appetite back, then I need to start eating more (and healthier - right now I am on a carb-only diet lol).
    Rant/Rave/Questions?
How do you all deal with waiting 4 weeks between appointments? I am constantly stressed out that something is wrong. I had a great ultrasound at 8 weeks, baby was measuring right on target with a strong heartbeat and all my bloodwork/hormone levels were perfect, which calmed me down for all of 2 days, then I was right back to stressing. I still have symptoms/feel pregnant but I am so nervous for my next appointment that I have been having nightmares about all the things that could go wrong/bad news they could give me. Doesn't help that I have anxiety disorder and went off my medicine while TTC after being on it for 10 years, so dealing with not being on the medicine and having all these new things to stress/panic over is challenging to say the least. DH tries to be supportive but he is a very laid-back positive person by nature so his advice of "just relax, everything is fine" is not super helpful lol.
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about fall?
Cooler weather, sweaters and boots, Halloween candy, pumpkin flavored everything (I know, such a cliche but I can't help myself :-D)

  • @kitkat8387, the wait between appointments is really hard but it gets better/easier as you get further along. Especially once you are able to feel baby kicking. I know baby kicks with DS provided a lot of reassurance for me during my pregnancy! I am 11 weeks on Friday and have my first appointment next week. Believe me, I know the wait is so hard!!! I can't wait to hear that heartbeat!
  • @STM2017 thank you for the advice! I really cannot wait until I am further along and have that physical reassurance. I will say, I feel way better now than I did before my first appointment at 8 weeks (I was a mess) so hopefully I continue that upward trajectory after each one!

How big is baby? Kidney bean

Appointments this week? Nope, but we finally hired a midwife!  We go in for the first time in 2 weeks

Symptoms? All day nausea.  I've had to stop teaching several times because I was positive I was going to hurl. Someone I've managed to gain weight still so I guess there's that.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I don't remember the 1st tri taking so long with DD....what's up with that? Also, I got out all my maternity clothes and was so bummed.  They aren't super cute.  I bought everything sued to save money and now, 4 years later, they seem so dull.  It's not the end of the world, but I'd really hope to avoid a giant mumu.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about fall? Hoodies and flip flops at the same time!  Biking weather. It's still 100 every day here though so we have some waiting to do.

@kitkat8387  do you have any one to see about your anxiety?  I ask because if you have anxiety you are much higher risk for PPA.  I suffered from that for a LONG time after my first and it's tough.  I'm just wondering if you might be able to get some help with some coping strategies now that you don't have the meds to help.  I bet if you call your ob office they could help refer you to someone! My favorite coping for anxiety is meditation and there are some great ones online for pregnancy! :)  Also, what do you think about a home doppler to check on baby for a bit every day?

  • How far along are you?
    9 weeks!

    How big is baby?
The size of a cherry :)

    Appointments this week?
None. I've been waiting two weeks for an ultrasound date. Our hospital uses snail mail for appointments, so I'm getting fairly impatient waiting for my dating ultrasound date lol

    Symptoms?
Nausea, constant hunger, food aversions, an amazingly overcompensating sense of smell, bleeding nose (got this in each pregnancy), braxton hicks (I know, wtf), sore boobs that really hurt when not in a bra, tired, tired, tired. Mood swings!

    Rant/Rave/Questions?
I can't believe how moody I am. I've been avoiding others as much as possible in between work and school. Rant at my breasts for being so sore. When I get up in the middle of the night to pee, the force of standing up hurts my relatively small breasts. I even let out a whimper :|

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about fall?
It's soups and stew season! Time for cheap food and cozy sweaters <3 Not looking forward to scraping the windows of my car in the morning, though. I know that's coming soon!

How big is baby? a lime?  I think.

Appointments this week? Next week I have the NT scan

Symptoms? My wet hair made me throw up in the shower.  That was a blast.  The round ligament pain is already getting old haha.

Rant/Rave/Questions?  I'm so over everyone by the time I get out of work.  I don't want to play with my kids, I don't want to talk to my husband, I just want to hide in the dark.  And burp/fart in peace.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about fall? Hoodies and apples.  And my birthday :)

  • @cafedisco thank you for asking and for your concern! I actually started seeing a therapist when I went off my SSRI earlier this year, which has helped a little bit, but definitely not the same as taking medication. I actually recently started trying guided meditation at the advice of my therapist, but I didn't realize there were specific ones for pregnancy! I will have to look into that. As for the doppler, I have been going back and forth on it as I am worried what will happen if I can't find the heartbeat (knowing myself, panic will set in after a few minutes and I know it takes some women a LONG time to find). I just now decided to bite the bullet and get one though and my plan is to try for the first time right after my next appointment which is in 5 days - this way, if I can't find it right away, I won't panic since I JUST saw it at the OB. If I can get it to work then it will truly be a godsend for my anxiety.

How big is baby? A Strawberry

Appointments this week? No, but I do next week.  The countdown to the next appointment is always exciting.

Symptoms? I've been good some days and then exhaustion hits me like a freight train. It's like it stores up and gets me all on one day.

Rant/Rave/Questions? @kitkat8387 waiting is so hard and my husband is the same way as yours so I agree that is not helpful! I did order a doppler last week cause I thought it would help ease my anxiety about if the baby is okay but I haven't had enough time to find a heartbeat, it takes forever and there are so many other noises. I haven't tried more than 20 minutes at a time since I've read on here that it gets easier the further you go so I was going to wait till this weekend to find a good chunk of time.  That could be an option for you too. =)

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about fall? I recently moved back to TN from NM and I love the smell of fall down here! There are so many colorful leaves and on a chilly morning, stepping outside and smelling fall is perfect.  Welcome back cozy fires, apple cider, long pajamas, and boots!
