Re: Sunday Ticker Change 9/11

  • 24 weeks! Baby is the size of a cantaloupe (so big!) and in the last day or so H has finally felt a few kicks from the outside, so clearly LO is getting much bigger. I could see that it brought tears to his eyes... Cutest thing ever.

Started moving guest room furniture out of what will be the baby's room so I can prime/paint next week. We'll be out of our house for about 3 weeks soon due to home renovations (so excited!!) so I won't start setting up anything in the baby's room until late October/our house is no longer a construction zone. Either way, it will be ready to go once the house reno is complete!

At 24 weeks I finally have a baby bump! It's starting to round out and not just look like a beer belly. Still haven't bought any maternity clothes (don't get me wrong--my clothes are barely fitting), but I can't wait to wear stuff and rock the bump.

    Late Sept.

Pretty boring over here, but bringing in either our favorite Thai or Indian food and getting a movie on iTunes. I usually fall asleep on the couch. It's pretty romantic :)

  • 24 weeks and also got a cantaloupe that loves cuddling next to my bladder. DH finally felt a small bump the other night and I cried. He was pretty happy to finally feel something.

DH keeps cleaning bits and bobs out of the second bedroom on his days off (it's been storage since we got married), but the first weekend of October, we're both off and that's going to be when we really get down to business. Then we can actually plan the nursery.

Bought 4 new bras last week since mine have been getting tight. Now, they're all way too small so I only have 4 to wear. Same with underwear. Thought I'd be able to wear my underwear a bit longer. Guess I need another under garments shop.

Next appointment is in two weeks and just a check up. No big stuff.

For date nights, we usually go to the movies, but we've seen all the good stuff, so there's we're wanting to see. Which led us to Netflixing a conspiracies TV show last night and, oh man, I thought we'd get a good laugh, but now I'm just a tad on the paranoid side.

    23 Weeks!

Have you done anything this week to prepare for your baby's arrival?
We bought a crib... starting to feel a bit more real... need to get the rest of the nursery furniture still, and I want to have the carpets in the nursery steam cleaned before the crib arrives.

    Rants / Raves / Concerns / Questions:
Over the weekend my cousins, husband and I were involved in a Mets/Phillies trash talking thread on facebook.  My entire family is from the Philadelphia suburbs and DH is a huge Mets fan.  We have a long history of shit talking on each other, but I am not a big sports fan (and watching baseball on TV is like watching paint dry).  Before we got pregnant we agreed that the kids would be Mets/Jets/Rangers fans- so that he could have that bonding experience with his kids.  We mentioned in the thread that the baby would be a Mets fan and my mother told me that she would still be buying Phillies gear for the baby.  I've been telling my DH for over a year that my parents would still buy Phillies stuff and take any/all kids to games, but having her tell us that she doesn't care what we say she's going to do what she wants makes we wonder how much involvement we will be letting her have with the baby.  We were thinking of asking her to nanny for us (she hates her job and we would pay), but I'm very hesitant given her general attitude.

    When's your next appointment?
    Sept. 19th

GTKY: What do you and your SO like to do on date night?
We typically went out to eat followed by drinks.  We have been staying in alot more since we moved out of the city a year and a half ago though.  Being about to walk and/or take public transit everywhere is greatly missed now that we are in the 'burbs.

  • 24 weeks! I have TWO freaking CANTALOUPES in me right now (also lol I just bought so much cantaloupe Saturday, I'd been craving it hard) I'm sooooo happy to have reached viability!!

I painted their closet and sorted through the hand me down clothes, this week I'll install the closet system, then we just need to get the outlets replaced and we're good to assemble the cribs and get to decorating!

Many hips and lower back feel like the bones don't fit together right anymore, it's so weird. Things keep popping and snapping when I walk and it hurts! I'm limping around looking pretty foolish  :s

Next appointment is a fluid check at the buttcrack of dawn on Wedbesday, yuck

We usually do date days because we don't drink so typical "adult" atmospheres are boring to us. We go to the museum a lot, also the big market in Detroit and all of the art fairs, lots of movies. Evenings we usually cook or order in and watch movies- we LOVE movies! (We bonded over horror way back when)

  • @PMForbie what show did you Netflix? Love a good conspiracy theory!
  • @newyearsbaby5 what renos are you doing? I want a new kitchen so badly!! (But we spent most of our reno money on IVF, blah.)  :| Someday!

@tinabelcher It's called Conspiracy lol and it's British! Which makes every thing sound so much more truthful and not crazy! There's two seasons and we only saw the first few, so there's plenty more conspiracy to drive me nuts

  • @TinaBelcher we are completely redoing our kitchen and bathroom! Our house is tiny (well, not super tiny, but 1200 sq feet) so smaller spaces = a little more affordable (for example, we can do Carrara marble throughout our entire bathroom because it's only 60 square feet--ha). We bought our cute 1920s bungalow 5 years ago in a rapidly changing neighborhood, so with improving home values it makes sense to fix everything up for resale, but we actually want to enjoy it, of course. I doubt we'll stay here longer than 3-4 more years (re: only 2 bed/1 bath, doesn't sound scary to me until our LO will be post potty training stages), but I can't imagine renovating with a baby in the house, so it's now or never. I'll make sure to share pictures once it's complete... but right now the mess is panic attack worthy.
  • @TinaBelcher also... two cantaloupes. I can't even. Moms carrying twins (or more) should get some sort of award from the President or something equally fitting. I can't imagine feeling double everything (not just the symptoms, but double the stress and worry, too!).
  • Ahhh @newyearsbaby5 your renos sound awesome!! We have a small tiled area in the foyer and I'm definitely thinking it needs to be marble someday soon...  :D

Re: 2 of everything, I don't know the difference between a singleton and twin pregnancy so it just is what it is for me, but dang do they feel heavy already  :o these next few months should be interesting!

LOL yes! That accent (like a proper London type accent) is like hearing the commandments spoken  :D (not quite the same in Cockney lololol)
  • @TinaBelcher, complete agreement with the proper London type accent LOL. My family comes from the NE of England, and you need a translator sometimes, the accent is so thick! My mom still has hers after being here for so long (I lost mine really quick since I was in 2nd grade when we moved here. Wish I still had it)

  • @newyearsbaby5 your renos sound awesome! I love doing kitchen and bath renos--they make such a difference (especially with resale value)! I hope it all goes well.

@TinaBelcher I'm going to second -- I can't imagine the changes and prep for twins. And yes, moms of multiples should absolutely get an award.
  • 24 weeks here, too! I can definitely tell that baby is getting bigger.

Not much prep right now. I'm out of state for work for almost 3 weeks -- 10 days to go!! I really want to start working on the nursery. Friends of ours just asked if they can come visit in the middle of November. I'd love that, but we are converting the guest room into the nursery, so now I feel like I have to wait until after their visit. Which seems a bit late!

Rave: I had a total win at work last weekend. Feeling pretty pumped. Rant: I'm very ready to go back to my friendly mountain town and work in my garden with my husband and my cat. I've been gone a lot this summer and am tired of traveling so much for work. I got to see my husband this weekend though (for a wedding); that helped a LOT.

    Next appt: Sept 22

Date night: we will usually go out to dinner. Maybe add a show of some sort. Before pregnancy, we'd usually end with a fancy cocktail and dessert.
  • I've been technically a Sunday person for many, many weeks according to GA dating at multiple ultrasounds but finally making the switch over to Sunday so, late taking part this week :)

How far along are you? What's new with your little babe? 24 weeks, viability! Baby's the size of a cantaloupe but that sounds... wrong... especially since The Bump website says that's the size at 30 weeks too... so... um... yeah. I dunno. I guess cantaloupes do come in different sizes, so I guess this is a small cantaloupe.

Have you done anything this week to prepare for your baby's arrival? I was doing too much so I took a break and let OH and his dad work on our new house for a while. They painted most of the nursery last weekend and got some of the flooring in our new house down :)

Rants / Raves / Concerns / Questions: Has anyone whose LO(s) have developed an in-utero kicking schedule had that schedule just suddenly change on them? He was doing a very consistent 11AM, 1PM, 5PM, 8PM, 11PM schedule for a while... and then the past 3 nights, he's instead been up all. freaking. night. kicking. And now I'm wondering if this is going to be his sleep schedule when he arrives.

When's your next appointment? GDD 1-hour test on the 30th.

GTKY: What do you and your SO like to do on date night? This is reminding me that we have not had a date night in forever. We used to go out, have dinner, see a play or the symphony or something like that, have drinks at a cocktail place about half a block from where we live... I feel like we haven't been on a real date since pregnancy happened though :)
  • Hi @canavara! These babies have no kick schedule- one of them moves alllllll day and the other is super random, but they both kick me all night! When I inevitably get up to pee it's party time once I lay back down.
  • Gosh I am behind!!!

24 weeks on Sunday! Baby girl is moving like crazy and kicking me lots!! DH felt her for the first time on Sunday.

No prep this week.  Currently on hold waiting for the carpet in her room to be installed so we can get back to work.

No rants or raves this week.. just moving along counting down the weeks.  We had an appt this past Thursday and everything was perfect. In fact I had lost 2 pounds, so makes my weight gain 12.  I am celebrating!! They did give me the dreaded yummy glucose drink to have before my next appt.  Yum! lol!

    Next appt is Oct 7th

Date night? We like to go to dinner and then maybe go for ice cream or something simple like that.  We also love going to movies.
