Pregnant after IF

Dizziness or something kinda like it

Has anyone had severe dizziness?
I cant even say thats what it was but last night/early this morning I woke up after falling off the bed, and could not get back up.  I literally kept falling back down, my husband heard me crash into the floor and ran upstairs and found me on the floor, but I couldnt explain what was going on, i just kept telling him I fell, and that I couldnt get up..

Finally he picked me up and helped me back onto the bed, but it was a very weird experience, and then my stomach began to hurt a little.  We have an u/s scheduled for tomorrow thankfully so just hoping that everything is okay.

Ive had vertigo in the past, so im hoping it isnt coming back full force

Re: Dizziness or something kinda like it

  • @ADRIANAC1982 Yikes, that sounds scary! I've definitely had the minor stumbling vertigo that comes with pregnancy, but nothing that bad. I hope that's the last you have to deal with that and that everything is okay!

  • @AandDM2014 It was scary, I dont think I was hungry, one good thing about having my husband home is that he cooks daily. He is definitely making sure baby and I are well fed <3 I had been a sleep for a while I think so maybe that had something to do with it, it was just weird not to be able to move, and of course bc my stomach started to hurt that scared me a bit as well

  • Are you by any chance a back sleeper?
If your uterus is placed a certain way it may block some blood supplies and will give you sleepy legs and dizziness.
Maybe that had happened before falling out of bed?
Hope you feel better by now and that your stomach isn't hurting anymore.
There where you get your ultrasound, will they be able to answer questions? Maybe they can explain/check you out and give you tips to avoid this happening again.
Be careful and keep that DH close until you know more!

  • Hey ! I've had episodes of dizziness although I was prone to dizziness and episodes of vertigo before pregnant . If the problem persists you may look into seeing a chiropractor ? I've been seeing one since the beginning of my second tri and he has helped with a lot of issues - headaches , dizziness and other pregnancy aches and pains . Hope this was just a one time thing for you !

  • @ADRIANAC1982 a couple weeks back I suffered a severe dizziness spell. I got really hot and everything was blurry. It lasted for about 5 min. I talked to my midwife and she said it could be one of two things: preeclampsia, which was ruled out because my blood pressure was normal and it didn't happen again. The second is that the baby can press on a nerve that can make you dizzy and give you blurred vision. Similar to what happens if you lay flat on your back for a long time. It hasn't happened again so I'm guessing the baby was just pressing on a nerve.

I hope that it's the same with you and nothing serious. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow!
  • Any way to sleep is indeed ok.
Preferred is the left side. As that one gives best blood flow.
I'm a belly sleeper still and only now slightly move to my sides.
Back sleeping isn't a bad thing either, unless one experience dizziness, then it's best to either not sleep on your back or lift up torso with some pillows. (it really just depends on the shape and size and place of the uterus. I don't get dizzy, but my left leg will get numb when I lay down long on my back)
Anywho, let's hope it was a freakish one of, and you won't experience it again!

  • If you are on progesterone it will do that. I was getting minor dizzy spells and my RE told me that's what it was from. I had to switch from vaginal suppositories( because of UTIs) to oral and the dizziness got worse. It's only at night though. By morning I'm usually ok
