Re: PGAL weekly check in 9.12.16
4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise) My blood sugar numbers have been high in the morning when I wake up. All my other numbers are good. When I do some looking, it sounds like a lot of people that struggle with high fasting numbers are placed on insulin which I am trying really hard to avoid. It just sucks that the diet control is working with all my other numbers. The idea of insulin makes me very anxious.
5. When is your next appointment? 10/27 with OB
7. Anything else on your mind?
8. GTKY - what's the best gift anyone gave you? When my son was born, my husband got me a ring that matches the style of my wedding ring, only it was in my son's birthstone. The reason I love it is the story behind it. My son was due in December so my husband had gone to the jewelry store ahead of time, trying to pick something out and decided on that. He ordered it with the birthstone for December and had it all ready. Well, my son decided to be born in November (3 weeks early) and my husband managed to get everything fixed and get the stones replaced for the November birthstone. I knew nothing about what was going on and it was a Christmas present for me.
23w6d, Jan 4th, Pink pink pink!
Baby is using my bladder as a trampoline for SERIOUS. Like rolling over on it constantly, driving me crazy! Also, nesting urge is real, but I don't have any time to actually DO anything, and I'm also going crazy from that, too. And hormones, yeah. I'm just an all around crazy person.
4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Pretty good! Except the crazy!
5. When is your next appointment?
October 6! One hour glucose test, and OB check up.
I already had a MBF, but I will just say here: car trouble sucks, and never let me catch you painting antique furniture with latex paint.
7. Anything else on your mind?
I'm resubmitting a grant that was not accepted back in April in December, and I need to have a small but important portion of it done by Wednesday. I've got some animal training to do today, but I will get to work on it for real tomorrow. One of the reviewers really tore me a new one on the grant critiques (but the other two reviewers were extremely encouraging), so I'm just really wanting to do this right and better than last time.
8. GTKY - what's the best gift anyone gave you?
Going for practicality here. My mom gave me a KitchenAid Stand Mixer for Christmas 3 years ago, and it is by far the best thing in my kitchen. And I bet it will last forever.
4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise) pretty effing anxious about baby's sporadic movement. I asked the midwife who told me she isn't viable yet anyway. Cool. Thanks.
5. When is your next appointment? 10/5 for glucose test. Ugh.
8. GTKY - what's the best gift anyone gave you? Like @cjs260, my kitchenaid in imperial grey. I got it for my college graduation. I use it all of the time.
20+3, Late Jan (might get c-section date this week), Blue!
Good! I'm still all kinds of Hobbit-hungry, as in my second breakfast is about 1.5 hours after my first and my after dinner dinner snack is about an hour after dinner. No shame. #FrodoForLife
And feeling movement makes me happy.
4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Pretty good--then I start thinking about my A/S tomorrow and get a little nervous--still thinking that shoe will drop...
5. When is your next appointment?
A/S tomorrow with Doc
A) my mom has finally accepting I'm having a boy and is talking about making his bedding.
7. Anything else on your mind?
Started cleaning out the old nursery, getting it ready for paint and stuff...I would like to get that done by October.
8. GTKY - what's the best gift anyone gave you?
A car, in college my dad pulled off the ultimate "new car for Xmas" present and it was great! That and the necklace with my first DS's birthstone my husband got me for my first Mother's Day.

2. how far along are you? EDD? Team green pink or blue?
23 weeks- 1/8 - Pink
Simultaneously full and starving. I feel like I could eat for days but when I finish a meal I feel so uncomfortably full that I can't function. I know I should be eating 6 smaller meals though out the day but it's hard enough to get away from my desk for lunch... forget snacking a few times.
4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Okay. Friday morning I had a mild anxiety attack- I thought my stomach looked flatter and was sure that something was wrong. By Friday night I was back to normal.
5. When is your next appointment?
September 19th
We finally picked out a crib! I am so indecisive (I'm the worst at restaurants) so it took a long time- but we finally ordered it. Now we just need to steam clean the carpet before it's delivered- and buy the rest of the furniture.
7. Anything else on your mind?
The upper right quad of my mouth has been hurting since yesterday or Saturday (I can't remember anything really). It feels swollen- almost like I have something stuck in my gums. I know your gums can swell when you are pregnant so I'm hoping that it goes away on it's own over the next few days as I really don't want to go to the dentist.
8. GTKY - what's the best gift anyone gave you?
I'm going to go in the opposite direction of all of the kitchenaid mixers. When we first started dating my husband was driving us somewhere and I noticed a button on the dashboard of his car. He told me to push it and a small glove compartment opened. I told him that he should have had something more fun like little green army men in the small space rather than his mail. The next time we went out he surprised me by filling it will all kinds of toys from the dollar store. Little green army men, air planes, dinosaurs and even a wind up hoping bunny. The toys made me laugh ever time I opened the box- and the looks on our friends faces when we would show them was priceless as well.

I'm not sure how to answer this. I thought I had pregnancy rhinitis because I've had over production of mucus this entire pregnancy, and typically have drainage problems even when not pregnant. However, yesterday, my throat really started to hurt and I felt like I took a turn for the worse. I had mentioned my post nasal drip at my last appointment, and the doctor said even if it is viral, there's not much to take besides some OTC meds sparingly if I want. The only thing the doc is really concerned about is high fever or something that develops into pneumonia. I feel irrationally upset about this cold (or whatever it is). Doc said it doesn't hurt baby, and I think I believe that, but I'm still upset. Any thoughts?
Besides all that, I'm pretty status quo. Still have my awesomely huge appetite lol
4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Anxious that my illness is hurting baby. I just feel awful mentally about this.
5. When is your next appointment?
Oct 12
I think I hit it all above!
7. Anything else on your mind?
@cjs260 good luck w the car. We just had a car issue and luckily it turned out to be inexpensive and a pretty quick fix. Stressful though! @thepax89 what a not helpful statement from the midwife. We're all acutely aware of the viability milestones, thank you very much!! @alabamaredhead good luck w the A/S! @carly79 let us know what the nutritionist and doc say. You are doing great; I know it's hard to not feel frustrated when you're doing everything you can and still not happy with the results : /
8. GTKY - what's the best gift anyone gave you?
I'll follow suit on practicality and say the Roomba is pretty great and a lifesaver with all the dog hair. I love that thing.
Edited for typos
4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise) Ok-ish. Mostly ok. But at times I still freak out.
5. When is your next appointment? Today with the midwife.
7. Anything else on your mind? Nah.
8. GTKY - what's the best gift anyone gave you? Hmm... for some reason this is a hard one for me. My dad was great at gifts - he gave me my first checking account with $200 in it from our dog. He gave me jewelry in a huge box within another box, within another box and so on - I couldn't tell you what the jewelry was... He took me through this whole ordeal trying to find a car for my 15th birthday (Mississippi driving license age was 15 back then) and the dealership would only show me stick-shifts and I couldn't drive one yet. He surprised me with his Cherokee and had installed a CD player and a cell phone (it was attached and I had an antenna on the outside of the jeep, hilarious!) I know these seem like big gifts but it was just in the way he gave gifts. I think that I have had high expectations since then and I am usually disappointed when it comes to gifts. I don't think that it is an ungrateful feeling just a general sad feeling because I lost my day when I was a senior in high school.

@susykat77 I love how your dad gave gifts, I'm sorry you lost him so young. What a wonderful memory you have of him though, he sounds like someone that truly enjoyed the act of giving.
@LoneStar21416 That worry is understandable. One thing I've learned this time around is that normal varies so much that often times we have to take cues from our doctors. And if you really aren't feeling great about what your doctor is telling you or it's not helping, seek a second opinion if that's an option. Just to see what someone else says. Other than terrible allergies I've managed to not catch a cold this time around but instead are suffering through allergies because I just don't want to take anything and risk something happening.
@ThePax89 What a terrible thing for the midwife to say, I'm sorry you had to hear that. Not sure it will help at all but until this week I was having pretty sporadic movement feels, maybe once a day if that. I told my doctor at my A/S that I was expecting to find that I had an anterior placenta and was surprised I didn't. She said what I was feeling was perfectly normal at that point in the pregnancy.
He is just like his brother...very low, very wiggly and not cooperative for a face shot! But just like his brother, the first thing he proudly showed was his weiner. Lol
Finally got a profile picture of him sucking his thumb! Awwww! DS was so excited, for like 5 minutes then ready to go. If they are anything alike, I'll have the best cardio in the world!

2. how far along are you? EDD? Team green pink or blue?
23 weeks/January 10/Team pink
Good - starving all the time right now. As soon as I finish eating I just want more food.
4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Good.
5. When is your next appointment?
Wednesday 9/21 with new midwife practice. Here's to hoping I like them
Ugh everyone in my office just wants to complain about everything this week. Even things that have an obvious EASY solution (ie. we were out of a certain test form that we have to order from a publisher. Solution: make copies of the last form to hold us over until the shipment arrives rather than bitch that it wasn't ordered fast enough because no one wrote down that we were running low and inventory is only done once per month). Just find a solution that works for today and move on people!!!
@ThePax89 What a horrible thing for the midwife to say. I think my anxiety would be through the roof if someone told me that! I'm still feeling pretty sporadic movement too but I was told its pretty normal for this point.
@AlabamaRedhead congratulations on the great AS!!! Such a good feeling to walk away with
I feel like my stomach is starting to get in the way of things. Bending or sitting and typing for awhile are getting uncomfortable. I have a long way to go to feel that way already!
4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Pretty good. Reassuring kicks help.
5. When is your next appointment?
Sept. 29th
Had a great babymoon in NH & ME. It's so beautiful up there! @BriannaE129129, thanks for the rec. on Agave - the nachos were the best I've ever had!
7. Anything else on your mind?
I'm super excited for fall, but a bit anxious because I haven't done anything to get the nursery ready yet. I want to get it done early so I have enough time to enjoy and get Christmas together.
8. GTKY - what's the best gift anyone gave you?
After DD was born, my DH gave me a photo book he had created that documented the whole pregnancy. It was so sweet of him to think of that. Once the baby is born, it's easy to forget that the mom just went on this amazing journey too.
