It seems like everyone is going to the doctor so early and is already having testing. I have an "OB intake appointment" with an RN at 8 weeks then 3 weeks later I finally see the midwife. I wish I could go in there right now and get some tests lol.
HCG levels have very little to do with the number of babies you're carrying as there is massive variability in what is considered "normal" for each week of pregnancy. The only way to know for sure if you're expecting one or two (or more) is through ultrasound. My levels weren't particularly high, but I am now almost 32 weeks pregnant with twin boys.

My first beta with twins was over 1000 (sig for exact #) your numbers are normal. Also if they (medical team?) think its twins I am surprised they wouldn't do an U/S. A twin pregnancy is a totally different ball game
@MrsFreeman2010 - I don't know that I would have the patience for that! 12 weeks is over a quarter of the pregnancy into it!
While the idea of going early might be a fun one, usually the women having early testing have had losses in the past, which makes being pregnant a stressful, anxiety-filled experience. If you never have to go in for early testing, count yourselves lucky. Waiting 3-4 extra weeks is a lot easier to take than having to go through the heartache of losing a pregnancy.
