Ok i just went for my 22 week appointment. I weighed 236 at the beginning of my pregnancy. I know overweight to begin with. I got told by OB today that I need to watch my weight gain. I weigh 248 today. Is that bad? I thought I was supposed to gain weight. This is first pregnancy.
Re: Weight gain
That being said, everybody is different. Our experiences with weight gain really can't determine if yours is concerning or not. I'd call your doctor and ask for more information if you're confused about what they said, you might even get a nutritionist referral or extra help out of it.
i lost 25 pounds by the 2nd trimester this baby, I had one lady Doctor (mine didn't have an opening) not want to even talk about it because she said it's healthy that I'm losing weight, didn't want to test me for anything, patted me on the head to my malnutrition concerns; she also kept asking if I was able to give birth naturally last time around and was dwelling way too much on if I had any health problems with my last baby and how she would monitor me closely for potentially weight related issues down the line. My regular doctor gave me extra tests, blood and urine, (I was dehydrated, malnourished and having associated low pressure and heart palpitations, ended up in the ER because my blood pressure readings at home were in the 80s). He monitored me very closely from the beginning (before any ER visit because of my past Hyperemesis history) and when I started gaining weight, he told me it was a good thing and said nothing more about it.
all that to say, don't completely dismiss doctors concerns but know what one doctor says may be complete opposite of what another doctor says.
