Re: September IUI

  • @BecauseLove I'm sorry girl! That really sucks. :( Hopefully the clomid does it the next round! I've been doing injectables since the beginning and they've been working well.

@fivetimesnoluck Yay!! Fingers crossed and sending you lots and lots of baby dust.

mrsdrwombat I never had the chills after mine. Hopefully that's a good sign though! Fingers crossed! When is your Beta date?

As for me, I had my baseline this morning. I'm guessing they'll start me on Clomid tonight for 5 days and then a few days of injectables before a follie check. But I'll know for sure when the nurse calls later.

  • @BecauseLove I'm so sorry that happened :( Fx next cycle works our much better!

@fivetimesnoluck Sounds like everything worked great this cycle!! Fx your IUI is smooth sailing on Friday!

@Isthisthereallife Fx you can start tonight! I'll be (non-creepily) watching how your cycle progresses. Our next step is injectables if this cycle doesn't work, and I'm really nervous about it. They ordered Gonal F and Menopur for me, and I've always thought it was one or the other!

  • @BecauseLove I'm so sorry!  I'm hoping that you can figure this out soon.  Best of luck.

@fivetimesnoluck  woot!  So glad to hear and I hope everything goes well for you.

@Isthisthereallife  I wonder if it is the hormones I'm taking that caused the chills?  I've read you can get hot flashes, so maybe I just react strange.  My POAS is a week from Thursday.  They said I can come in and do a blood test, but they wanted me to just start with a pee test.

@BecauseLove I'm sorry you have to start over again, that is very frustrating.

@Katkirch I don't know the answer to your question, but I have my FX for you that your scan this week has (just a few) healthy follicles!

My soreness is almost completely gone, thanks for sharing all your experiences. This is the LONGEST TWW ever...

I am sorry for the back and forth, @Katkirch - it's not the same of course, but I sat out last cycle due to a cyst from the previous month's stims. We were told it would be fine to try on our own, but Doc didn't want us to have additional stimulants until the cyst subsided. I'll be interested to see what your U/S this week reveals.... seems like they would want the follies to have been "re-set" before stimulating again, but what do I know?!

  • @BecauseLove I'm so sorry for the cancelled cycle.

@ReesaAnne16 I'm glad the tenderness from the trigger is getting better!  I had slight tenderness the day of my trigger, but nothing after.  I did read online that having tenderness is not uncommon.

GTKY: where did you and SO meet?   I work with my now MIL.  She found out that I lived one street over from where my husband was living at the time, and encouraged us to meet.  My husband ended up sending me a text and we met at a Kentucky Derby party!

GTKY: Do you have a favorite childhood movie you still love to watch as an adult?  I watched Aliens way too young (I blame my brothers) and it is my go-to movie when I am feeling down.  Ellen Ripley kicks so much butt!  Growing up with three older brothers most of my movie favs are scifi and/or action flicks.  I also watch Die Hard a lot.  :-p
  • @beary67 my husband loves that movie (admittedly, I've still never seen it, I guess I should!)

GTKY: Do you have a favorite childhood movie you still love to watch as an adult?  I still love the old disney 101 dalmatians; I think it's the british voices and humor that went over my head as a child that I love now.

  • @mrsdrwombat Maybe that's it! I got crazy hot flashes on clomid. My DH really loved me those days. lol

Nurse called and sure enough, Clomid for 5 days, overlapping Gonal-F on Saturday and Sunday. In for a follie check on Monday. If things go the way they have the last few months, I'm guessing I'll need 2 additional days of injectables and probably trigger next Wed for Friday IUI.

Pro's & Con's to going through this for another round: Pro - I basically know what to expect and have a pretty good idea of what my body is going to do. Unless it does something different and then who knows. Con - Going through this again and not KU yet.

GTKY: where did you and SO meet?  We met at a wedding. He was the best man and my moms long time manfriend was the father of the bride. We had met in passing before but never really paid any attention to one another. After that day, we were pretty much inseparable and got married exactly 365 days later.

GTKY: Do you have a favorite childhood movie you still love to watch as an adult?  Hook! As soon as I was old enough to understand it became one of my favorites!

  • Alright checking in.....I've made it 1 week with out testing at home, still have a week to go. I've kept very busy and havent thought much about it so I've not been a nut case like last round. So excited to take a trip in 11 days, so trying to stay focused on that. I feel completely normal this time, last round I was really uncomfortable and severe cramps. So weird to me.
  • I'm FINALLY doing my first IUI this month.  AF is scheduled to start in 5 days (so that means anywhere from 5 to 10 days).  I'll have to go for my baseline uterus ultrasound on day 2, then it's business time!  I want a baby so FREAKING BAD!

GTKY: DH and I met back in Tampa, Red Bull had the Fluug Tagg event and our friends each had teams competing.  There was an after party at one of the restaurants and well.... the rest is history!
  • Ok -- after an office visit with my RE this morning I am officially heading toward September IUI.  I'll have my cycling visit Monday morning, start clomid Monday and possibly adding Gonal-F next week.  Here we go again!

GTKY: DH and I met doing a volunteer work teaching deaf people about The Bible in ASL.  We clicked instantly... and here we are!

I think I only love Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory more and more as I get older (the Gene Wilder version, of course!).  My DH and I both love it and we watch relatively often!

I hope everyone is doing well -- surviving TWWs, loving growing follicles, or waiting as patiently as possible for AF to arrive!

  • I'll jump in. We are doing our first IUI this month. I just finished up day 3-9 of femara. I go in tomorrow for my ultrasound. My trigger shot got delivered today. Very nervous. We are working with very low sperm count. Around 2.1 million. Which is amazing considering we were at under 10 4 months ago. My husband has been taking femara for the last 4 months with amazing results. So we are very nervous. If this doesn't work we will move to IVF. It's hard since we are paying out of pocket.

Popping over to September now that I had my baseline this morning and everything is good to go for IUI #2! My RE is bumping me up to 100mg of Clomid and I'm a bit nervous for the side effects, although I didn't have much at all with 50mg. He warned me "I hardly see anyone take 100mg without the hot flashes and night sweats...go to bed early because you will likely be up during the night."  I guess I will wait and see...first dose tonight!

@LoweeeK  Sorry to hear about the potential side effects.  I wonder why some REs go up so high on the Clomid and don't try the letrazole....  Admittedly I'm not a doctor but it seems like the letrazole has much fewer side effects even at high doses.

My ultrasound showed around 50 possible follicles. Only had 2 that were above 10. My lining was low at 4. But really I'm a late ovulation as a normal for me. So I'm not surprised. Going back for another ultrasound on Tuesday. So stressful! so excited to have others in the same boat!

  • Good luck today, @lady_grey! Those are great follies and I'm so glad your DH could make the trip home by car so you could get in some BD. We had 1 million more swimmers than last time, for 7 million total yesterday. I'm alright with that!

Will you you wait for beta or test at home? What day do you plan to test? I'm scheduled for a beta on 9/21 but will test at home so that DH and I know together before work.

  • @fivetimesnoluck thanks so much!  It was my most painful one, not sure why, but I'm glad it's over!!  How are you going to keep busy for this TWW?  The 7 million sounds awesome!!  I usually test at home 2 weeks from the IUI if my period hasn't come, so it looks like that will be 9/24.  I try really hard to wait the full 2 weeks but sometimes I get impatient and test on 12 or 13 days past IUI.  We'll see how it goes.
  • Morning all. I'm out for September. I neglected to update while I went through my first cycle of possibly doing IUI. I got AF very unexpectedly while I was away on vacation. I called the RE's office and they made me jump through some VERY unnecessary hoops (insurance crap) until my actual RE emailed me to come in last Monday for sono and bloodwork. Unfortunately, after all of that, I was deferred due to a cyst on my left ovary. I was really disappointed, had a very weepy Labor Day. I just feel like I keep getting postponed...But I'm feeling more positive this week and will just wait for AF to show up again.

I had an ultrasound this morning. Showed a follie on the right at 12 and another on the left at 13. I'm *hoping* that by Wednesday they've both grown up and we can trigger for an IUI on Friday. If the IUI falls on the weekend, we'd have to go downtown for the procedure. Fingers crossed! I'm so excited for #2!

  • @Katkirch Good luck today!

@lady_grey My cycles are only about 26 days, so my RE has me test after a 12-day wait instead of the full TWW. I typically refrain from testing any earlier as I would still question a negative that early. We are in the middle of a kitchen renovation that was caused by a leaky dishwasher, so (fortunately?) I have plenty to keep me distracted. Yesterday we finished priming and then painted the kitchen and tonight we will be installing cabinets!

So sorry for all the waiting, @soontobeshrader - I know it sucks. I hope next month everything falls into place for you!

  • Hi all! I accidentally bailed on the August IUI board, but going to try to be more active over here. I'm currently on CD10, hoping to do IUI #2 Friday or Saturday. I just wrapped up 5 days of 2.5mg letrozole, and my monitoring u/s is tomorrow. FX I've got some good follie growth; I did too well on Clomid last cycle. DH has low motility and we were really discouraged by his motile count (is that the right phrase?) at the last IUI, but RE encouraged us to keep doing IUI for at least four rounds. NYS has an IF insurance mandate for up to and including IUI, so I'm cool with that--and I could kiss an Assemblyperson.

After our BFN fro round 1, DH and I were both in a really sad place emotionally. Need to convince him to try this MFI support group I found.

    Anyway, good luck to all!!

GTKY: DH and I met on match.com. I may have set up my profile to respond (but no lies) to his. I am not ashamed.

GTKY #2: NEWSIES! I have an obsession to the point that DH's proposal was Newsies themed.

  • @Katkirch Glad it went well! 10 Million is great! fingers crossed and sending lots of baby dust.

Btw...princess bride is my all time favorite family! I quote it daily and my DH indulges me but I know he's rolling his eyes! Miracle Max is THE BEST!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  I felt like I was getting a yeast infection, but then it seems to have gone away.   Just three more days and I get to test!
  • Good morning! Quick question about Clomid side effects - has anyone noticed changes to their skin after taking it? It could be entirely unrelated, but my face has dried up like crazy and I have so many very rough, scaly patches, especially around my eyes that I've noticed over the past month or so. I've been blessed to never have many skin issues so I am a little caught off guard. Nothing I can't deal with, just more curiosity!

  • @LoweeeK my acne freaks out when I've taken either clomid or fermara. It's horrible.

Had my ultrasound done today. Horrible news. I have around 7 follicles that are all sitting around 10-11 mm. No not really any movement. The nurse stated she will contact the MD, we may continue another 7 days of fermara or we will scratch this month. I'm hopeful to continue another 7 days of fermara personally.

    fingers crossed!

  • I am sorry you didn't get better news today, @ashcip. Hopefully those follies will respond to another week of stims.

@LoweeeK I haven't experienced the same dry skin, but like PP, I have had some obnoxious acne that I definitely attribute to the mix of hormones I have been pumping in each month. I took Letrozole for the first time this month after a few cycles with Clomid and both (combined with other factors, I'm sure) have caused more blemishes than I typically experience.

@mrsdrwombat I have fingers and toes crossed for you! Will you POAS or go in for a beta? Good luck!
