Re: August/September IVF/FET

  • I've been thinking about you @Colleen0516 and can't wait to hear about how your appointment goes tomorrow.

@Jsmorrissey yes, my clinic offers a shared risk program. You pay 14k and try as many times as the number of embryos that you have. If you are unsuccessful, you get $11,500 back. Meds are separate and you don't recoup any of that cost. It really put my mind at ease knowing we'd have money coming back to us. IF is definitely very taboo yet effects so many people!

  • @Colleen0516 I have been coming back to the thread primarily to check in on you. You are incredibly strong. Sending back the creepy Internet hugs your way. Rooting for us both in the next round.

Also, good luck to anyone else in the tww and congrats to all those with beautiful betas and u/s.

Afm- I had my first appointment with my new RE and holy moly was this an eye opening experience. This place is incredibly thorough and having me run a million crazy tests that I never even heard of! Before this appointment, we were told by my last RE that my husbands morphology is the main reason we're having trouble conceiving. Now, this doc is having me question whether I contribute to the problem. Im 27 years old but apparently my egg quality can suffer from things like gluten (what? No pasta?!) and dairy (what?! No ice cream?!)

if it's gonna help, or if there's a remote chance it can help, I am absolutely eliminating these things from my diet and will get all these tests done. He also said my AMH was low for my age and that only recovering 10 eggs from my last attempt is incredibly low. My AMH is 1.86 but I was always told by my last RE that my levels were quite nice and that 10 is an awesome number of follicles. Apparently, I should be closer to 20 eggs for my age. Any feedback guys?

Even now that he's having me question my contribution to our infertility, I'm loving this place so much more than my last clinic. A new RE with a new, fancy schmancy state of the art lab may be just what I need. At least I hope.

Now excuse me while I go clean out my pantry and fridge of all things delicious.

  • @mous this actually makes me feel very hopeful!! I've got an appt with a new doc in a few weeks. (I wish it was sooner!) but at least I feel like it's a step in the right direction!  And about the gluten effecting the eggs, this is great news!! (In a weird sorta way!!) y egg quality is horrible and I did the Whole30 for the entire month of August. I lost 13lbs and it's no grains, dairy, sugar, legumes or alcohol. Very tough but it's amazing how great I feel!!  I was so upset about my embryos dying that I totally crashed hard off the wagon. But after 3 weeks out of town and with my mom in town I'm going to start it up again for 2 months, or more. I'm hoping that's what my body needs!!  Look into it for yourself as well! Good luck!!

@mous I find that interesting that the Dr. Said that 10 is low for your amh. Mine any is 8.5 and I only needed up with 7 mature eggs out of 40 follies and I'm 25 and they haven't found anything wrong with me. Our problem has mainly been my husbands morphology. I am curious to see of the changes you make will make a difference.

  • @mous- glad to hear you have found a new RE that you are happy with! I am in a somewhat similar situation as you. My AMH is 1.55 and I am 28. Both REs I have had said my AMH is borderline low for my age. After doing a lap surgery, it looks like I only have 1 fully developed ovary and they believe this is the cause of my lower AMH. I started IVF in August but it was cancelled after 2 lead follies took off. Based on my antral follicle count, they were hoping I could get 10-12 follies so now we are starting a new protocol in oct that is for Low responders. If anything, I would request to not be on BC before your cycle bc I really think it suppressed me too much and caused my cancellation. I would also read the book It Starts with the Egg if you want to learn about improving egg quality. My RE has now recommends COQ10 and DHEA to help optimize my quality and quantity. Hope this next cycle is your one that works and happy to share more info if it would help! I know how potentially having lower reserve and quality can be devastating but it doesn't mean there is no hope!

  • @Mous Your new clinic sounds pretty similar to mine.  Mine only does 5 day transfers as well and pushes for everyone to do FETs, to give your body a rest in between, do PGS testing, etc.  But they are pretty confident in their ability to get everyone a decent amount of frosties.  I hope your new clinic delivers for you!!

    2nd cycle on Letrozole 7.5 mg CD 3-11 + TI = BFN
3rd cycle on Letrozole but did our 2nd IUI on 07/01/16. 10 mg CD 3-11 + Ovidrel = BFN
Onto IVF! Started Lupron on 09/24. Added Gonal F and hcg injections 09/26...... Trigger 10/07. EggRetrieval 10/09. Starting PIO, Estrace, and Medrol 10/10/16. Transferred 2 "strong/beautiful" embryos 10/14/16. Beta 10/28/16 = 998 mIU/mL = BFP with one baby, but miscarried at 9w5d.
D&C on 12/06/17 and started taking BCPs 01/10/17 for the next IVF Cycle, which officially began stims on 02/18/17.
Fast Forward: we got 4 fertilized embryos from that cycle. Transferred one fresh, but it did not stick, so we have 3 frozen embryos currently. Went in to the fertility clinic in July to talk about a FET of one of those three frozen embryos, but a new fibroid was discovered, and I was not cleared to do the transfer until I had fibroid removal surgery.
08/11/17 had a mini-laparotomy / myomectomy to remove 6 fibroids, largest sized were the size of golf-balls! Once we were cleared to go about our normal lives (sex!) I got pregnant NATURALLY but it was a chemical pregnancy. The very next month we had another BFP and here we are now with a baby on the way! A TOTAL AND COMPLETE MIRACLE!

  • I had my lining check today and I'm at 8.7.  The nurse also called and said my estrogen is good (482) and progesterone is low.  She said everything is perfect and I've been given the go ahead to start PIO tomorrow, along with medrol and low dose aspirin.

Is 8.7 good for lining?  Google seems to want to freak me out, as I keep finding studies that recommend you be over 9 for an FET.  The nurse assured me that women get pregnant with a lining of 5, but that doesn't mean my chances are high.  I know I need to chill, but I've been having an anxious/hopeless day

  • @wifeinraleigh28 I think 8.7 is still a great lining! I was listening to a podcast episode in the series "Beta Infertility" and they were actually speaking on this subject. I would check it out! The episode is called "How to Improve the likelihood of Implantation". I think you will find it to be a great series, also I think a few of the other episodes you would like as well.
