Weight gain with twins

So I know I probably sound pretty stupid but I have gained 8 pounds in almost 20 weeks of this pregnancy so far I'm 19 weeks and 5 days. I don't know how much amniotic fluid and blood volume more you carry with multiples so I'm confused on how that works. I know every pregnancy is different but with my last pregnancy my Singleton they did not gain this much that fast. So if anybody can recommend me a site to multiple weight gain breakdown that would be great. I know it's so dumb that I'm worried about this I mean I still eat as much as I do anyways it just gets a little depressing. But I am extremely thankful that I'm being blessed with two babies

  • Our MoMs thread would be a great place for this, it seems to get a lot of traffic and it's full of our other January twin moms. Otherwise, I'd suggest asking your doctor for an outline of twin weight gain. 8 pounds at 20 weeks with twins doesn't seem high at all considering most singleton moms have gained at least about that much by half way too.
  • I was just feeling pretty awesome about only gaining 10 lbs at 20 weeks with a single baby in there!
I think 8 lbs with twins seems low, but I know absolutely nothing about it.
  • Twin mom here.  If your doctor isn't concerned I wouldn't be either.  If anything, I would say that 8lbs is low, unless you lost a lot from MS and only recently started gaining.  My OB told me that average gain for twins for a "normal" starting BMI is 40-50 pounds.  I'd encourage you to post in the MoMs thread for twin questions/comments/concerns. Everyone is really helpful with twin stuff!
